The One and Only Ivan | Official Trailer | Disney+
Фильм және анимация
An adaptation of the award-winning book about one very special gorilla, Disney’s “The One and Only Ivan” is an unforgettable tale about the beauty of friendship, the power of visualization and the significance of the place one calls home. Ivan is a 400-pound silverback gorilla who shares a communal habitat in a suburban shopping mall with Stella the elephant, Bob the dog, and various other animals. He has few memories of the jungle where he was captured, but when a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, it touches something deep within him. Ruby is recently separated from her family in the wild, which causes him to question his life, where he comes from and where he ultimately wants to be. The heartwarming adventure, which comes to the screen in an impressive hybrid of live-action and CGI, is based on Katherine Applegate’s bestselling book, which won numerous awards upon its publication in 2013, including the Newbery Medal.
The film stars: Sam Rockwell as the voice of Ivan; Angelina Jolie as the voice of Stella; Danny DeVito as the voice of Bob the dog; Helen Mirren as the voice of Snickers the poodle; Brooklynn Prince as the voice of Ruby; Ramon Rodriquez as the mall employee George; Ariana Greenblatt as George’s daughter Julia; Chaka Khan as the voice of Henrietta the chicken; Mike White as the voice of Frankie the seal; Ron Funches as the voice of Murphy the rabbit; Phillipa Soo as the voice of Thelma the parrot; and Bryan Cranston as Mack, the mall’s owner. “The One and Only Ivan” is directed by Thea Sharrock from a screenplay by Mike White based on Applegate’s book and is produced by the late Allison Shearmur, Angelina Jolie and Brigham Taylor. Sue Baden-Powell and Thea Sharrock serve as executive producers.

It was indeed inspired by a true story about a gorilla named Ivan who was captured from the wild as a baby and brought to live with humans. For the first few years of his life he lived with his owners, but he soon grew too big for a human house and they moved him to a 40' x 40' concrete enclosure on display to the public at the B&I shopping center in Tacoma, Washington, where he spent the next 27 years of his life.

"Inspired by an incredible TRUE STORY"? The only thing true about this was that there was a gorilla raised by humans. The real story was that he was raised by humans, got too big, basically sold to a shopping mall and put on display for 20+ years, and was then transferred to a zoo because people realized that the shopping mall was no place for a silverback gorilla. He does not paint freedom, does not get free, and is not part of a freaking circus. @@Vall_Ey Actually, a remake of Robin Hood was announced a long time ago. It will be released on Disney+, and will be entereily CGI, but obviously more like The Adventures of Tintin than The Lion King.
i’ve read this book each year from fifth grade to eighth and remember the excitement i felt from seeing they’re might be a movie to the movie comes out next year
I remember reading the book and I bet in the movie Ruby the elephant would be so cute!
Bryan: I am the one who trains.
This looks cute. The special effects look nice and the cast looks promising.
Amazing CG and voice acting sounds really nice! Added to my watchlist
Just watched and it had so much meaning and it was one of the best things ever. It really brought it to life . I read the story when I was little and knew about it . But I guess I forgot this amazing story.
This movie is coming earlier than Disney+ announced and on it's original theatrical release. How exciting. Having read the book, I am excited to see this movie and to see the differences it takes from the book.

You’d love the story of the real Ivan. Zoo Atlanta has a couple videos about him. You can see him smile.

There's definitely going to be distances. It feels like the book was more detail accurate, but we'll see how this goes.
Gorilla : can i go home now ? Bryan : You're done when i say you're done.
I just saw the movie..and actually liked it a lot. With live action remakes flooding everywhere..this is a breath of fresh air.
Watching the trailer is already making me teary. The book was sooooo impactful. Can't wait for the movie.

love everything about this :))))
0:28 He looks a lot like Robin Williams.
The strip mall Ivan was on display at for years was the 🐝 & 👁 (2 letters) in Tacoma Wa. I used to go and see him often when I was a little girl. As I child I didnt understand how cruel and inhumane his reality was just how magical it was to see such a magnificent creature. They are memories I'll treasure forever though looking back its bittersweet. I hope Disney doesn't commit their classic crime of retelling the dark secrets of history into a fun, family friendly, feel good fairytale (Pocahontas anyone?)

Yeah, I used to go see Ivan too. He was really something to see but he sure didn't belong in a cheesy discount store in Tacoma.
The real gorilla was imprisoned in a strip mall for +20 years.

I am so pissed off. Ivan was discarded and stuck in a tiny enclosure in a rundown store in methland washington. Neglected. Depressed. Alone. I now hate Disney as much as I ever hated anything. THIS IS NOT A FEEL GOOD STORY.

@@siddarth3955 yup after 20 years being in that place, people protested for ivan to be in better conditions or be free. Cause ivan was older getting old the best choice was for ivan to go to a really big zoo with other gorillas with lots of space and nature, and ivan died in peace in 2012.
The mall at the end was filmed in my hometown Lakeland Florida!! Same as Edward scissorhands
