At 10:48 that's an old asphalt plant, that particular style looks like a continuous mix plant, aka drum plant, it has two storage silos for holding freshly mixed asphalt until it's loaded on a dump truck and is used to pave a road it also has a newer style baghouse (filtration system) looks like it was a nice setup in its day

That plant is a Hot Mix Asphalt plant more normally called in the road construction industry as a Hot Plant it blends aggregate and Asphalt oil together and is heated to 300 degrees

Enjoyed the video. Melanie was about right on how long the festival has been going on. It actually started in 1989 and went for years. The latest article I quickly found was advertising the festival in 2011. I remember it stopped (not sure when) but it must have been restarted and maybe by a different group of folks and that is why it is now only in its 4th year.

It’s good to see y’all! I haven’t gotten any notifications in an age. Be safe on those roads.

Trade has some great antique stores. I have a little collection of quite a few local paintings purchased in Johnson County. They're a bit mediocre, not exactly artistic masterpieces, and who knows who made them, but that's part of the charm of them.

As many times as I have been to Boone, NC, I have not visited the Trade Festival. I always thought it would be neat to purchase an old frame, one room schoolhouse and renovate it to live in. Thank you for some great memories of driving up and down Rt. 421.
