The BMC joke is also interesting as they all misunderstand it. The joke doesn’t center around the idea that it’s true, but statue queen is such a racist and is so I to oral that she gets the answer just from those questions. They were still right that it was inappropriate

@@jimbojones8208 there was a time when it sounded racist to say 'a black man', so people said 'a coloured man' and since then it's basically flipped back. So in a weird way, Gareth was kinda right there, at least if this was filmed maybe 10 years earlier lol. My nan's generation say coloured because they were taught that was the most PC way.

It's still considered totally fine and PC to call a black person black. POC and BIPOC, like BAME in the UK, is an attempt to basically say 'people whose background isn't White British and/or Irish'.

The cringe level and awkward situations are priceless in this season. David Brent tries his best to be a likeable boss who is everyones friend and falls flat every time. The interactions between the staff members is fun and Tim and Dawn's parts go together really well to make a cracking series. Josh, also the watch back ability of this show is there as it is subtly layered. You literally pick up stuff you may have missed by rewatching,

The last episode with Dawn: I thought it was clear she was disappointed in Tim not following his goals and starting to turn in David with his phrases like “vis-a-vis” and “pie”. If you watch the way Tim talks in that moment, everything he says sounds like David Brent is saying it. That’s what Dawn doesn’t like. She can see him becoming the next David in that moment. And that’s what flows into this episode.

Season 2 has a different feel to season 1. Brent is still incompetent, obsessed with being “popular” (as opposed to Michael Scott who was more interested in having people like him), insensitive and with ridiculous double standards, but here we see him totally spiral out of control and be unable to deal with his new situation

I’m a new subscriber and loving these reactions, I love that you really seem to enjoy yourself 😄 (I binge watched a load of your League of Gentlemen vids first) The people in the office not laughing at Brent’s joke is a bit of an exaggeration and a bit unfair on Brent. I mean, they weren’t hilarious jokes but neither are Neil’s, I guess it’s all about the delivery and how likeable the person is who’s telling it. It’s just done like that to further illustrate Brent’s awkwardness vs Neil’s cool demeanour. The Harry Enfield “Only me!” was very well known here in the 90s/00s, they’re just being quite harsh in not politely laughing at his terrible impression 😅
