The off-grid Community in Paraguay you never heard of - a great Plan B in Latin America

🇵🇾 Contact the community to get more information: thewanderinginvestor.com/off-...
I spent a few days in a particularly interesting off-grid community in Paraguay that also has all the comforts of modern life. I met the founder and his wife and they took me around the facilities and amenities. For now about 250 settlers have moved there, mostly from Europe, and the community is growing fast. It has a school, organic food, fiber-optic internet, an industrial 3D printer, alternative health practitioners, etc. It really is a truly unique project. In this video we discuss all of this in detail and also look at the community from a real estate investment point of view.
00:00 Introduction
02:30 Why was this community created?
06:40 Visiting the organic cattle farm
10:25 Access to horses and horse riding
12:06 Visiting the organic vegetable and fruit farm
15:00 Off-grid, natural water source
17:35 A massive industrial 3D printer in the middle of Paraguay
21:20 How remote is this resilient community?
24:30 Viewing a nice family house in the community along with ROI, capitalization rate and rental yield numbers
29:15 Who lives in this off-grid community in Paraguay?
33:25 Fiber optic internet in the community
31:15 Resilience through local income
39:15 Affordable housing
41:35 Core values of the community
46:30 Visiting a budget house
51:00 Rental returns in the community in Paraguay
1:02:30 Gun-range fun

A place for rich people to live simpler. I see no apartment buildings for more efficient use of land and resources for example, only oversized expensive mansions. It is not expensive - but wonderful! Of course, the construction costs also include the costs for the entire infrastructure. This includes electricity, internet, water, communal areas, swimming lakes, dams, over 100 km of roads, café, library, kitchen, bakery, security guards (A must in Paraguay) and much more. You can't compare this to any settlement project in the world or even in South America. When you include everything, it becomes clear that it is not expensive. The jungle and the inexhaustible nature is wonderful! But the best thing is the heart-connected community. ❤

In 1893, a few hundred Australian people migrated to Paraguay, in the hope of establishing a utopian socialist community. Many more followed, and called themselves The New Australia movement. It seems that people have always wanted to leave the Western world, and obviously still do. Just to let you know, the New Australia Movement didn’t work out too well. Lots of infighting, and financial issues, and it all eventually disbanded. Some of the descendants of these early migrants are still there, and have an Australian accent (well, from 1893)

Looks amazing! I would might consider doing something like this but I would want to own the land myself. Also it's hot and muggy 6 months of the year in almost all Paraguay which I can't deal with. But I'm very happy for those that are able to live there and enjoy the climate and very clean environment.

Hello, I just found you today. Thank you, for asking all the right questions, I wanted to ask, as a prospective investor and owner. I like how open and honest and down to earth the owners of his community are. I really enjoy the fact that is kind of off grid, and they grow a lot of the produce and meats. I love the community store and the Amazing hard and courteous working staff. It seems like a very relaxed community, I can't wait to write to the owners. I absolutely love the church. Is it original to the town.

Only themselves..for this reason we are staying in USA…..even though I speak fluent German and have worked and lived in 9 countries….my feeling is find a strategic relocation in your own country if possible..

The Mennonites were invited by the government of Paraguay to see if they could successfully farm tracts of land that nobody else could cultivate. Needless to say, they succeeded. It's funny to see blond-haired blue-eyed children coming into town who are German speakers. There's an old National Geographic magazine that covers this story with great photos.

I was in Durango Mexico in 1986 and there was a Mennonite community there. The men spoke Russian and spanish and the women Russian only. The area was very desert-like until we arrived at the land they had leased and it was lush and green. Their milk cows were huge and very well cared for. They made cheese and sold it to the outsiders. It's one of my best memories
