Thanks, it was interesting to see the old photos. I was taken to the cinema occasionally in the 1950s and early 1960s and then used the pool more or less regularly. Before that the choices were the Danson Park lido (when it was open) and Eltham Baths, a bus or bike ride away. I moved away from Sidcup in 1996 and have noticed quite a few changes on my occasional visits since.

I do remember cinema in Sidcup high street when my friends went to see ' Dracula has risen from his grave' early 70s..great seats

I remember it well. I used to take my sons swimming there in the late 1990s when we lived in Sidcup.

I remember swimming in the pool as a kid. I always thought the building was massive. Hope they make good use of the site

My sister and I and our friends went every Saturday morning for years in 50s, saw Roy Rodgers and horse (can't remember it's name) maybe Trigger 😂

I work on the swimming pool for a year for Rush and Tompkins. how sad to see it now, what waste, I remember beautiful diving board, it was made with white Portland stone and cement, the mixer was in the car park, I mixed the concrete, whilst others barrowed the concrete, it was done in two pours, what work of art, as was the tiling, just like Dason Park swimming pool, buried in the ground. thanks any way,

What a great piece, living in Portsmouth we had a large number of cinemas and most were deco palaces that were purpose built, none of them are cinemas, lots have been repurposed, Bingo halls and Mosques mostly and still have their splendor remaining, my favorite was the Odeon in North End ( Sainsbury's now). I was there once a week without fail, I saw anything that was on and on most of the Wednesdays that I went was an old boy sat in the row in front of me and he would bring a snack for the cat smuggled inside his overcoat, the interior still exists but no longer safe. I associate so many personal milestones with film and now more than ever as our freedom of movement to attend the cinema, theater, gigs or record hops has been taken away from us the feeling we can live that life again is paramount. Was this the cinema you attended as a kid?

No, I live local to this today, my two cinemas were the Odeon in Penge and the ABC at Beckenham. Thanks for the story mate...

@@cadetmouse no problem, as my wife will say "there's always a story" Did your ABC get taken over by the Cannon group? If it did you would seen lots of trashy movies by this company, I can recommend a documentary " Electric Boogaloo - The wild untold story of Cannon film" , check out the trailer it's bonkers, and the film had me grinning from ear to ear...
