Dr. A. N. Yellappa Reddy is a renowned environmentalist known for his extensive work in conserving natural forests, protection of endangered animals and plants of Western Ghats. During his tenure as a Secretary, Government of Karnataka's Forest, Ecology and Environment Department, he worked extensively for restoration, protection of lakes and rivers of the state. He also initiated an action plan for preventing pollution of lakes and riverine eco-systems.
