The OA Tutorial: Updated! Learn The 5 Movements (Perfected, Most Accurate)

Ойын-сауық

Join the NYC flashmob on 8/26: bit.ly/savetheOAflashmob
This updated tutorial was created in honor of the #SaveTheOA campaign. The corrections to the movements were made possible by Wes Veldink, associate choreographer of the 5 movements, who worked with Ryan Heffington, the original choreographer. Thank you, Wes!
If you are unable to make it to NYC for the flashmob in front of the Netflix offices and in Times Square, there are plenty of organizers who are creating virtual video compilations that you can participate in. Our sign up form has a place where you can indicate interest in this too: bit.ly/savetheOAflashmob
.............
Time stamps, thanks to @FabioReggio

Second Movement: from 4:43 to 5:28

The OA was created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij.
The Five Movements were created by Choreographer Ryan Heffington and Associate Choreographer Wes Veldink to translate "an ancient cosmic language" through movement and breath. Thanks to Wes, we were able to perfect the movements and share them in this powerful way.
We’re going to learn and continue to use this gestural language as a way to unite people, reclaim our freedom, and heal our world.

@@VOIDSTRANGER2099 I talk about that a lot, i don’t know what or why it was cancelled but i know it was probably because there was so much truth to the story. Britt didn’t break the 4th wall for no reason. And maybe someone didn’t like that. I just know that this show isn’t just a story because it holds so much power and so much truth, that there has to be more to it as a whole.

i'm SO grateful for these tutorials - thank you!!! i was in a depressive state the other night, grappling with how chronic illness has made it feel hard to love my body, and i had the impulse to dance which felt inaccessible. then i remembered the OA and these movements. i found your tutorials and the gorgeous flash mob you did in NYC. i spent all week learning the movements and reconnecting to my body. truly, thank you.

Jess, this is amazing. As a Tai Chi coach, I’ve seen this as a type of QiGong. The only way I’m able to express myself is via movement. I can’t dance but boy can I Tai Chi lol. Thanks for this tutorial. It means so much to me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love The OA and I was looking for a new way to excercise from a healing spinal injury. My physiotherapy routine was getting a bit boring. This is much different, and engaging, I just have to do it a bit slower lol. Thank you for the lesson!

Thank you!! I'm disabled but my doctors told me to move more, so I remembered the 5 movements from the OA and found you doing these tutorials! I have to use my backbrace and leg brace and have my rollater beside me and do the movements slower than usual. So I'm hoping these will help me to move around more. Hopefully, I don't injure myself in the process. lol

okay, every time I do the movements I'm getting dizzy and a bit „disoriented“ in my stomach... Maybe because of the head moves and the inhale and exhale, but maybe also because that's part of traveling through dimensions :D

Maybe Amazon, or some Cable Channel can pick it up, so just in case someone does decide to continue OA, here is an idea. Why not explore a working class OA? Just imagine OA working the drive thru window at a Taco Bell, while Hap is her manager, I could imagine OA saying "I would rather be blind, underground, and tortured than work here!" Hap, as usual, would still be interested in near death studies, in his off time of course.Hap would get drunk and start stumbling all over the place, NOW THAT would be GOOD! Maybe OA has a drug habit or something. How about OA working doing beds and cleaning up motel rooms after customers leave, while Hap is the hotel manager and BBA does the books, try to make that exciting!!
