Chorus:
Lord, I'm so tired
And I know you're tired too
Look over the horizon, see the sun
Shining down on you...
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy, yeah
Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy! Ship Ahoy!
Ship Ahoy. uh-huh

my soul cries.. im so thankful my ancestors made it for me. im so thankful they fought for me. ty ty tyty
My brother and me bought the album , had to keep records like this under our bed . Daddy was in Eddy Arnold and etc ... Nothing wrong , Music is Universal as we know . One record player with a nickel on top of the needle . 45's 78"s and LP's . B&w Tv 3 channels . Priceless.
Probably the darkest Soul song of all time.

TRUE SONGS TO FIT THE NATURE OF MEN
This song should make our younger generations see how much our ancestors went through to get them where they are at today. Thank you O'Jays for this beautiful song.

And still there is racism and hate in the USA,and almost everywhere. Kids grow up breathing this hateful wrong air even in Mom‘s belly. Look what happend to all that hope Nelson Mandela brought to S-Africa, nothing left. Sorry, but I lost hope for all mankind.
I never knew back then that this actually told the story of the Middle Passage and Slavery. It is so expressive.
Amen my brother 🙏this song is part of our heritage
This has to be one of the most significant songs of our times. Given today's hateful and shameful racial climate of injustice and intolerance, 'Ship Ahoy' stands a reminder that 'The more things change, the more they stay the same.'

I dedicate this song to my dad, Samuel Edward Holmes Sr. He was laid to rest one year ago today. He was a great man with great honor and integrity. One of his many passions in life was music. As a young boy, he introduced me to many groups and artists such as the OJays. I am so grateful for the time we shared and the memories we made that will live within me forever. This is for you, Pop. Rest peacefully, my dear father. Until me meet again. Family forever!

I was looking for the Cimarons's Ship Ahoy and found this one. Great
I first knew this song by Boney M's version. As the lyrics of a pop group are not supoosed to be taken seriously, I didn't pay them attention. One day I did and I said... What...??? Who wrote this strong thing? So I arrived here
“Time for me to act like a psychopathic lunatic”

In 1973 l,a black young man in the 101st airborne division heard this song and being from south Central- Watts Ca did not understand why my fellow white paratroopers did not understand the veracity of the lyrics. sadly 48 years later I can't understand why 40 year old white parents don't understand the generational effects this has had not only to those black people in the ghetto and slums, but also to the so- called successful black people held in high esteem
I heart this song My first year at Cass Tech i had just came from the ROTC Ball a very good memory it did something to my SOUL it still does AMEN
I can play the O'Jays all night long
Let us continue to listen to music that gives us a message...
