The Notorious B.I.G. is widely recognized as one of the world’s most influential rappers and has sold more than 17 million albums in the U.S. alone. Before his murder in 1997, Christopher Wallace recorded two classic albums as The Notorious B.I.G. His debut Ready to Die arrived in 1994 and helped revitalize the East Coast rap scene with massive hits like “Big Poppa” and “Juicy.” Life After Death was released in March 1997 just weeks after he was shot and killed in Los Angeles. The record topped the U.S. album charts and featured the hits “Hypnotize” and “Mo Money Mo Problems.” It remains one of the few hip-hop albums to ever achieve Diamond certification from the RIAA.

@@neverhungryagain2187 Man, you skipped over the whole Golden Age... The Whodini style rappers was the late '70s to early '80s.. By the mid to late '80s, you had the Golden Age cats like LL, Rakim, KRS, Kane, G Rap, Slick Rick, etc, who took lyricism and the artform to new levels with sampling and conversational flows. Then in the early '90s, you had the gangsta rappers, pro-black rappers, and the high octane gruff voiced rappers like Onyx, Das Efx, Busta Rhymes, Native Tongues, etc. Biggie came out of that era. Then by the mid '90s, hip hop changed again with lyricism being stepped up even more and the underground emerging as a viable force.

The best Flow in all humanity!!!
According to Vibe, this is the only song Big actually sat down and wrote pen and paper. It’s sad dude couldn’t even reap the rewards of his efforts. You could tell this was a special track to him. Greatest to ever do it and sadly nobody has come close. Still waiting for the messiah of rap to surpass. Kids today don’t understand. We WANT y’all to step up!

@@johnspinelli8835 shit is wack. I wanna hear about his music and the genius behind it. How he felt about certain tracks. Dig into how the flow came about. Best thing was probably that doc on Netflix

Soon as that 3rd verse comes on and the beat gets more cinematic i get chills
This song is one of the reasons I laugh when people try to say Pac was a better rapper than Biggie 😂😂😂😂😂

Pac nice but he wasn’t even close. Respect to both. Nobody could rap like Big.
Top story teller....killed "I gotta story to tell" as well
I’m 53 years old. Stopped listening to hip hop decades ago. Can listen to Biggie over and over
