This video looks at the misconceptions about the 9 worlds of Yggdrasil in the Norse myths. The nine worlds were not planets but dimensions that are all around us. Modern science and string theory has discovered this and it seems that primitive pagan humans had some knowledge of this.

I have an Lakota uncle who was drunk (yep drunk) and he was telling me stories that a woman spirit visited him beside his bed and told him lots of information. He said there's a realm in our universe called, the pleiades aka the 7 sisters, or alfheim which he says is all the same realm but different names. they live in the 5th dimension(plane of existence) and above where everything has a spiritual body like spirits. They are very bright or have a very bright aura about them. Said that normal ppl cannot see them cuz their hearts are closed and our eyes cannot detect them because they resonate on a different frequency or something My uncle is native american he's very big on the spiritual stuff but sometimes I think he just makes up stuff.

What do you think of this: We're four dimensional beings and that the fourth dimension is actually time. We can observe it, say with a sun dial, we just can't manipulate it yet because of the amount of energy needed. If space and time are turning out to be one in the same, something can't take up any space without also existing over some amount of time, or vice versa, can't occupy any amount of time without taking up at lest an X, a Y, and a Z. I heard more than once that if one were to take two clocks set to the same time with a high degree of precision, one could be brought up to the highest altitudes and back ( say with a weather/research balloon), only to reveal their times would be off. Idk...lol, Bob Lazar fan here, :P

I like the idea of dimensions. I have been trying recently to find explanation for the realms within our own perceived reality, such as Venus could be Muspelheim, Pluto could be Niflheim and so on. Within religion that is a bit farfetched so I like your dimension idea. It makes more sense. Also, you describe elves and trolls as spirits. Do you mean they are apparitions/ghosts instead of physical beings like us? Thank you for the video. It was very interesting.

Wild speculation: considering a good chunk of the light and sound spectrums are imperceptible to us, the things we call "apparitions" and "ghosts" might not be as immaterial as we think, just outside our ability to perceive. Kind of how some animals can't perceive certain colors. Speaking of animals, have you ever had your pets stare weirdly at something that isn't there?

@@audhumbla6927 Well, elves are the spirits of our ancestors. So I suppose they are ghosts of the dead. Quite different than land spirits. However I think we ought to be cautious in assigning modern ideas to what the ancestors and spirits of the dead were back then. A better reference is how contemporary indigenous cultures reference these ideas. It's more of a being, a soul entity, if you will. Ghost busters type ghosts didn't exist for these people, not in the way we conceptualize them anyway.

Wow...I never thought of these realms as dimensions rather than physical locations, which makes so much sense why everything never really added up. I keep running into conceptual Ideas our ancestors had about complex understandings we know today. Like Egypt's description of the sky was "A great sea" which is accurate when you think of it as a 3-Dimensional sea and the summarians had an accurate mapping of our solar system long before telescopes... While they could be coincidences, I don't feel that they are!

Very interesting ideas about these realms and their meanings, but I wouldn't mix them with dimensions in physics. Dimensions in physics are about physical space and time (and as others have said string theory is still in the works), whereas spiritual realms (at least from my understanding) are not mathematically defined or constricted as such, they seem to be about understanding our place as humans in terms of meaning/purpose, not in terms of just a collection of atoms that exists in x,y,z coordinate at time t.

Hel is the underworld, the deep dwelling of the earth where the body and flesh and people who die will pass through literally because of the burial of the body being given back to the earth, either through burial mounds, marshes/bogs and sea burials, like you pass through the earth and become one with the world again and recycled in a chemical/physical sense while your soul or spirit, which doesnt exist in a physical form but in a energetic vibrational dimension. So it's just a place you go before you either are manifested in a new life by birth. So it's a bit vague, but im just giving you an idea of how to think about as not a literal hell or purgatory. but more like the greek underworld. It's a interesting but hard topic to tackle hehe.

Talking about string theory and the "confirmation" that there's 10 or 11 dimensions. It is not confirmed as such, they ellude to there being 10 or 11 dimensions because that's what is needed for String theory to make sense, aka, for the calculations to add up. And string theory is not a confirmation, it is a suggestion of reality, not fact, but a theory

  • @robertmurray6783

    @robertmurray6783

    3 жыл бұрын

You're right that no one has "confirmed" string theory. Thats due in large part to the fact that much of it deals with things far too small for us to observe in laboratory conditions. However string theory isn't posited or needed to make the math come out right. When you do the math, string theory is the only answer we have that fits. So it exists because it fits the math and not in order to fit the math. It has had such staying power because the mathematics of string theory have added much to our understanding of black holes, the very early universe, and our understanding of the very extremes of our universe, where particle physics cannot answer questions. The many dimensions are also just another thing suggested by the math. In order for the math to be right, string theory and multiple dimensions are, for now, the best fit to answer our questions and fill in the gaps. Something different may come along one day, but for now, its the best we've got to help explain why the universe, at the smallest levels, behaves as it does.

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS! it's the first time i ever see someone mention Niðavellir as one of the nine 'worlds' .. i've also seen many use the term helheim for niflheim.. and as you say niðavellir, is often confused with svartalfheim.. but from what i know from the sources, niðavellir is the home of the dwarfs, not svartalfheim... because of the word 'Dökkar' is often the term for dwarfs or Dvergar, because they dwell in darkness- dark - dökk, therefore as elves also dwell our realm, why would dwarves not settle in more as well? ;) i still have the opinion that what dwells in svartalfheim, would be a different kind of elf, not necessarily a dwarf but maybe a similar being, like the Vættir- or landvættir as you suggest yourself, and i just love this... Friðar til broðir.. hilsner fra Danmark, og igen mange tak for at du lagde dette op! bliv endelig ved! ;) To me niflheim would be a misty frozen darklands or frosty plains, no man can venture through without freezing to death, before they arrive in hell.. ((it is hel's realm) i'd say her abode is at the 'center' if you catch my drift (her high seat is hellheim, the darkest point or area ) or just darkness itself ;)

Wasn't it Stephen Hawkings who states that gazing up at the stars was really looking into the back of our own minds? I think we are multi-dimensional beings, this is what the shamanic path is really about exploring those dimensions or realms. The 4th dimension is a bridge between dichotomous duality of the third dimension, to balanced wholeness and oneness of the fifth dimension. You also have in the Celtic Worlds Tree how it flows chronologically: roots: past, ancestors, cauldron or spring of rebirth. trunk: present moment, nature spirits, duality but merged into oneness, branches: future, gods and goddesses, higher state of mind. The past, present, and future are not separate as through the center of the whole tree is a scepter of light, a serpent, and anchor of alignment to make it whole.

Bigfoot is similar in description to jotuns. The Yeti is often described as being a large, bipedal ape-like creature that is covered with brown, gray, or white hair, and it is sometimes depicted as having large, sharp teeth. It suddenly appears and suddenly disappears, mostly in the mountains locations. Humans are usually afraid of him when encounter. QFT (Quantum Field Theory) is better analogue for dimensions, "String theory" (inc Super/M/etc) are bollox... Think of them as a set of imaginary parameters that can be applied to a situation to dial it in to an already known situation. A framework of math that can be applied to logically break down the constituent parts of a complex physics situation to allow us to comprehend it. Nobody seriously actually claims it to represent reality it is a math tool. Besides all the "dimensions" are by definition not of spacetime so contain no matter. In QFT "Fields" in the same spacetime have differing interactions through energy spots or quarks, these go on to form matter but essentially all "9" fields are needed to form the quarks that form the atoms that make everything.

It seems more like a cultural difference, to me, based entirely on my unguided, disorganized, unscientific language studies. A thousand years ago, the world to which we could travel was all we knew. As our knowledge has expanded, perhaps a more accurate word in modern English to the "world" translation would be "universe," not because we're thinking bigger, but because we can see farther. I think if we ever truly discover (read: "either visit or otherwise directly observe") some... "outerverse" that the word "universe" would, after more understanding is gained, be too "small," like "world" is now. On the other hand, this could all be me talking out of my ass, since I haven't started on Old Norse yet, because I'm still working on Norwegian. If that's the case, maybe I'll have something useful to contribute after I've done some studying. Addition: when you spoke about Alfheim it reminded me of the descriptions of a fourth dimensional being as seen from our 2-dimensional (because we live in three dimensions, but see in two) perspective. The idea of ancestral spirits existing in the fourth dimension, projecting themselves onto our plane of existence, hit me hard. I had already thought about this in the past personally, but had never seen the link to Norse paganism.

Got a theory about Muspleheim. Surtr is a fire giant that waits until Ragnarok (Which can be interpreted as the end of the world), when he'll take his flaming sword and the whole of Midgard will be engulfed in flames. In about 5 billion years our sun will run out of hydrogen, which will cause its rapid expansion and Earth will be made uninhabitable.

Note that if the 9 heimr are dimensions, and string theory is actually right about there being around 10 dimensions, and we want to map these concepts... it means that Midgard might be the x-axis, Svartalfheim the y-axis and Alfheim the z-axis. Time would be - let's choose another random one - Jötunheim. Yes, that does not make much sense.

I don't think these dimensions have *anything* to do with dimensions in physics. They're more likely different states of consciousness much like the realms shamans in the Siberia access in trance. In some places in Siberia they also use the word tree as a symbol for accessing these realms (as Mircea Eliade writes, because idk any other sources).

Our world is actually the first four dimensions because the fourth dimension is time and it is a singular linear timeline of material procession. The fifth dimension is the entire spectrum of potential unfolding from a particular data set that is physiologically embodied by the arrangement of the center of our verse. The sixth dimension is the spectrum of all potential verses and then I do not necessarily understand 7 through 10 or 11 depending on who you listen to. These nine realms are more likely facets of consciousness and the tree is the fundamental neural branching at the root of a brain. And it also represents the fundamental data set at the center of our verse and depending on that data set either of those data sets the nine realms appear in different places that's why they have no set place on the tree outside of the fundamental ones that likely do not change via each data set.

My friends and I developed a system of organization over the past decade, around fifteen years or more that the original creator first thought of it, for writing based on Twelve Dimensions of Consciousness. Consciousness of the Creator: Potential and Existence (Father), Actualization and Gestation (Mother), Manifestation and Birth (Child). Energy: Etheric (spiritual, polarized according to one's 'template' of consciousness, which is essentially their existential makeup from physical to spiritual, with greater control for beings which rise beyond the 9 into the 10, which for the sake of an omniverse means the coalescing of shards into a singular ascendant being), Psionic (informational), Form (nucleic and subnucleic interaction which produces matter). Separation: Spherical (relative, entangled, the conjoining of planes and vertices - this represents 3D and all spatial dimensions beyond), Circular, Linear. Motion: Spherical (harmonic, tied to relativity and entanglement), Circular (polaric, this shows the non-duality of polarities, as they are one thing perceived as two), Linear (causal, the action of cause and effect which produces the concept of time, its concept of 'forward' coming from the asymmetry of entropic decay). Each dimension acts up, down, and all around this lattice. The conjunction producing the fully represented dimensions we understand and experience as Consciousness, Energy, Space, and Time. The spiritual realms would be produced by conjunctions and exposures which separate them from what we understand as 'normal' space. It started out for RP, to correlate all the different ideas into one understanding so logic can cross all boundaries, most of it derived from real life philosophies and beliefs since all fantasy is based thereon with its own twist. That's why it's an organization and not a system, because it isn't rigid and with more knowledge and understanding it grows to encompass more. It seems to have become far more than just a game though, since I've seen these concepts manifest in reality in popular media and even in scientific discovery years after we hypothesize some idea like radio-controlled proteins that integrate into opponent's brains to allow for manipulation. Come to find out that they've essentially achieved that with sound waves and genetically modified worms.

Why would the ancient Norse know about a scientific idea of dimensions? I suspect they thought of these realms as spiritual locations where different kinds of spirits reside rather than "dimensions". The Other Side, as I call the realms beyond the veil, is mysterious, endless, and heavily populated with all sorts of energetic beings who may or may not be able to manifest in material reality. A lot of them can, to some degree. I've seen a few, and so have my children and other family members and friends. We have consistently seen the same spirit entities for the last 25 years in my house and on my property; about a quarter of these spirits are non-human. The journeying I have done has shown me that on the Other Side there are many, many different realms I call 'locations' even though the Other Side is nonlocal--it's the only concept I have to describe what I see. Maybe the ancient Norse saw the same. These realms may have nothing to do with dimensions but there's no way to know this yet. I studied advanced physics and keep up with all the latest discoveries, but I'm not getting the sense that the 9 realms are different dimensions, sorry--but I love your videos and want to see more! You have an interesting theory but so far really doesn't match the physics. Based on my own research and experience, I suspect that the spirit world is non-dimensional.

@@MathiasChris Well I looked a lot but can not find the notebook I took notes in...so going of memory for now. In Norwegian the word used for Evil is "ond" which origionally meant soul or breath of life. The aparent change to meaning evil comes from the use of ond in Old Norse where it was associated with magic & one of the gifts that Odin & his brothers gave to bring life into humans. In Icelandic the word for evil is illr the English cognate is ill. The use of I'll to mean sick in English comes later than it's use to mean wicked/morally reprehensible. From Wikipedia: Adjective Edit ill 1) (obsolete) Evil; wicked (of people). [13th-19th c.] 2) (archaic) Morally reprehensible (of behaviour etc.); blameworthy. [from 13th c.] 3) Indicative of unkind or malevolent intentions; harsh, cruel. [from 14th c.] 4) Unpropitious, unkind, faulty, not up to reasonable standard. 5) Unwell in terms of health or physical condition; sick. [from 15th c. 6) Having an urge to vomit. [from 20th c.] That being said to the minds in the Viking age & earlier being I'll was seen as being possessed by spirits. We know the surviving Norse myths we're somewhat Christianized when written down. The Æsir were written to represent good & the Jötunn to represent evil being equated to demons. The issue is that the stories themselves betray the change. Odin's mother was Jötunn, in fact many of the gods married Jötunns. The gods often sought wisdom from Jötunn. Yes they had tribal conflict, but also tribal alliances. The Jötunn seem to embody chaos, the Vanir natural order & the Æsir war (which is the grey between order & chaos) a balance of 3. The Valknut might represent this; 9 sides of 3 triangles representing the 9 world's. The 3 triangles being lower, middle & upper parts of the world tree. And the triangle itself being a balance of three. The Norse concept of Örlög also should be considered. Similar to the Hindu concept of Karma but with 2 major differences. 1) there is no reincarnation aspect; what you do in a life effects that life. 2) there isn't a rigid "good things happen to those who do good & bad things happen to those who do bad" belief. Örlög is if you do things things will happen to you. I may be you do good g bad things happen or do bad g good comes from it. To me at least this seems to hold a philosophy of neutrality; this is reflected in the modern Norwegian saying of "det som skjer må skje" in English "that which happens must happen". There is probably more than I'm remembering off hand but that is a start lol If I find the notebook or think of something else to add I'll do so

@@asa-punkatsouthvinland7145 This is very interesting, thank you for getting back to me and sharing your knowledge. I am under the belief that all words originate from somewhere (different religions have different beliefs) But that somewhere that made the word, imprinted its meaning into our spirit/soul, and that meaning is forever printed there. So lets say someone would call me "ond" with the intention of calling me evil, he would then be referring to my soul, with a wicked intention, which would infact hurt my soul. I am also under the belief that some words have been changed, perhaps on purpose, or due to wickedness of some men, to do exactly this, but in different ways. Why I really don't like modern language and every year I am much more careful about what comes out of my mouth. From what I've read about the Frisians, scythians etc. It does fit with what you are saying that they would have no word for evil or good, they claim the law is written in our hearts(the conscience) therefore they would not need a word to describe their behavior as they would feel the behavior being right or wrong, there would be no need to philosophies about it, which would just make a person unsure, as he could feel one thing and believe another. I didn't understand everything you said as I really do not know much about the norse mythology, even though I am a Norwegian, but I will look into it later, thank you again

I'd say the literal translations were more closer to the truth than descriptions and your explanations. For me those "9 dimensions" seem to be mental states. Like a person could be in what someone could call elfish mental state (likes elves in real life and so on), then there is dark elf mental state (likes elves, but is evil in his intentions), and so on.. with my thought-pattern it seems very self-explanatory to explain the other ones too now. AND mental states are very, very tightly connected to ""magic"", or should I say, the control of your own powers, doing things that other people deem magical, but is actually just smart use of your body (and mind). PS: As a viking lover, you should investigate "Wim Hof", his breathing technique is for example what some could call magic, and in those ages for sure wouldve called it.
