It'll ONLY cause longer and hotter heat waves, droughts, heavy rains and cause more powerful hurricanes and cause low lying coastal places to be flooded and cause multiple species of both plants and animals to be extinct while also melting the ice caps. I was a little worried about this video due to its age and was wondering if the little guy here could still be alive today, ten years later. I looked it up and harp seals have a natural lifespan of 30-35 years so that means this cutie is still out there which makes me happy :)

Fun fact; Harp seals eat snow on the regular. Most likely because they can't drink sea water so they eat snow to stay hydrated.

Fᴇᴜᴇʀʙʟᴜᴛ [RAGEMODE] been illegal for over 30 years to kill the pups and thanks to protests the Inuit who rely on the ADULT seals weren’t allowed to hunt their main source of food and income while keeping traditions alive. Tell me, why do you think they should not be killed? Is it because they are cute? Would you feel bad for the pig that was turned into some sausages? How about the mouse caught in a trap? What about all the poor insects, many that aren't even pests, killed to grow and prepare some plant based food item, like bread or raisins? How about all the snakes and spiders killed out of fear when other options are available? I suppose none of them deserve any mercy, they aren't cute enough. Yes, killing pups is stupid, killing most infant animals for any reason is a bad idea, but the adults are a common traditional food item and fur resource to many indigenous cultures that they live around, they are killed as quickly and humanely as possible by them, and they have been doing it for centuries. Let's also not forget that seals are prey animals. Only now, the Inuit are competing with poachers who target the pups, a government blaming them for things and idiotic activists who want to protect all the seals regardless of age (not to mention climate issues and habitat loss). Thanks poachers, government and PETA, your combined efforts are successfully ruining an entire culture. As soon as that ban was put in place, their market started to collapse, even with the government noticing the screwup and trying to help you still have poachers and activist pushing them back down. Cut them some slack, they may eat the seals but they respect them more than any of the previously mentioned fools.

Harp seals are abundant prey items that nearly every predator up there wants a piece of, which has included humans for centuries in a regulated hunting process. Harp seal populations used to be great, well over 9 million, among the many other seals up there they were an integral part of the market for the natives, who respect the populations enough not to wipe out one of their main food sources, but after the fur craze and hordes of non-Arctic folk barging in on the seal market, killing any individual they could find and hunting young seals for fur, the population dropped to about 1 million. They stopped decreasing at an alarming rate a few hundred years ago. Nowadays, with the banning of pup killing and various other regulations, the population has climbed back up to 7 million, more than healthy enough to have some hunting (despite the ban, pup poaching still interferes with smaller localized populations, which affects people who live off the seals more than the global seal population). There are enough of them now to destroy whole fisheries, and about half their predators are gone because the biosphere is falling apart, so population decline is not really a problem for them at the exact moment (climate change is probably the only current major population threat).

Lord... it's not fair how cute baby harp seals are. Fluffy, squishy, round, and just the righ size for a cuddle. It's practically torture. You wanna hug one, but you never will. So not fair.
