The Nigerian Muslim Legend who founded a Caliphate

Ойын-сауық

For decades he clashed with an oppressive class of rulers and just so happened to found a new Caliphate state along the way in Africa. He was perhaps one of the most influential West African scholars in Islamic history. Some scholars said he was the Mujaddid of his time while there were others who said he was nothing but a disruptive nuisance. He was Usman dan Fodio.

As a muslim living in hausa land, I assure that this information is correct. Sheikh Danfodiyo was a blessing to us sent by Allah, his contribution to islam can be seen and felt all over modern day northern Nigeria, because to this day there are more 50 million muslims in northern nigeria alone who Allah has blessed with his deen as a result of Danfodiyo's call to Islam. May Allah bless the sheikh and the onepath network for making this amazing video.

I am soo happy about this video I always feel happy whenever I listen to my ancestors history ! I am a descendant of sheikh usman danfodio,a torodbe family from sokoto ,let me share a little fun story with you- I always remember as a child that we don’t eat goat meat in our family 😂the reason behind it is that before the war, sheikh usman danfodio made a promise to Allah that he will never eat his favorite meat (goat meat)if he win the war,and Alhamdulillah he won…and till this day,our family kept the promise and we still don’t eat goat meat 😅 he’s such a great man may his soul rest in peace,Ameen

I remember in my first year in uni I was taught he was just a man who went to sudan, learnt about islam and came back to kill he monarchs in the name of jihad. I felt ashamed actually as a muslim at that time till I came across Albaniy Zara audios about his history. I felt really good and happy that I finally knew the truth about my islamic roots. It's funny that alot of hausa people still do not know the exact story of dan fodio but the lies that was spread. I am afraid that what Dan fodio fought for is has successfully surfaced itself back to hausa people. May Allah help us through and bless Dan fodio.

Little history here, my tribesmen who were at that time traditionalists or pagans defeated the invading Sokoto forces in the middle belt region of Nigeria. Despite defeating the Muslims, my tribesmen later became Muslims, Alhamdulillaah. I am a generational Muslim as well which proves that our ancestors became Muslims not long after they defeated the Muslims.

@@muhammadusman2533 the French government are the entity that continues to oppress Haiti because of the revolution. America neglects Haiti even though Haiti is responsible for the Louisiana Purchase which gave America a large land mass that the French sold to America so that they could have more money to continue to fight the revolting Haitian slaves. In our earliest days, many of the slaves were Muslim and the French sought to beat their religion out of them and the Muslims refused. One specifically was name Boukman, which sounds French/ Kreyol (the language of the slaves formed by several African dialects and the French language) phonetically as if to say "book man", was said to be an educated and well read Muslim. The "book" be was said to have known was The Quran itself. He was a catalyst in prompting the revolution and inspiring slaves to revolt. The stories and tales of voodoo are largely overshot because to a people who live in squalor, if you have any form of a technological advancement, it is so inconceivable to them that it is believed that it is magic. Islam has been largely in Trinidad, Guyana, and other parts of the west indies as well, with musullahs to educate Muslims. However the truth was suppressed in Haiti for so long due to the French being severely bitter for their military loss to slaves, so much so that when Haiti recieved a $1 billion in donations for earthquake relief , the French government took the money and said it was owed by the Haitians for revolting. France continues to facilitate christian and catholic missionaries to be in Haiti to force their faith on them still. However Islam has begun to spread more in Haiti and now more masjids are being built there.
