This might be the best McDavid breakdown I've seen, especially for the powerplay. I never realized how many of those plays were set plays and how frequently they work just because of his presence

Not an oilers fan, but a sad Devils fan. I can't help though but be mesmerized and hypnotized by how McDavid's skills of scoring and play making mesh together in pure perfection

Love the content. Can we get an analysis on the stars soon? They’re headed into the playoffs with 8 20+ goal scorers, a 20 year old sophomore with 30 goals and fighting for the presidents trophy with the rangers and no one is talking about them. Oh also oettenger has played with a .960 save percentage in the last few weeks with 2 shutouts (including a 5-0 spanking of Edmonton in the last game)

@@dw7276 But if Stars are able to lower Oiler’s game, or Oilers can’t deliver all through a 7 game series, it is definitely something to think about.

Oilers power play is so scary, you have a 60 goal scorer who is also one of the best playmakers in the league skating at you and a 50+ goal scorer sitting on the hash marks waiting for a pass.

I'm hoping next season he takes what he's developed over the past two seasons and combines them to be the ultimate offensive threat where you never know whether he's going to offload to make a play or burn it past you to put it in the net himself.

Quality content man. I rarely comment or like on YT videos, cause I just forget, but I like all of your videos and I'm gonna comment to boost the KZread algorithm for you just a little bit lol.

We have seen this since Gretzky and it was Lemieux. The 91-92 season he played 64 games and won the Art Ross with 131 points. And the 92-93 season he missed a ton of time but scored 50 points in the last 15 regular season games. Insane numbers. Not taking anything away from McDavid he is obviously God mode and is in the elitist of company.

Great analysis. I just have to take issue with the statement that McDavid gave the rest of the league a headstart. Using the Nov 10th date as the start and today (10 April), MacKinnon has scored 123 points to McDavid's 120 (Kucherov had 116pts).

Last year, he took things to a new level by surpassing Matthews' goal total from the previous year, and now this year, as you have rightly pointed out, he has taken things to a new level. How lucky we are to be able to witness this.

Amazing breakdowns as usual

What I still think is crazy.... So many players today are breaking or nearing Gretzkys records... But its MULTIPLE players breaking individual records that were all set by one guy. Ovechkin might pass him in goals, but nobody is even close to his assists or total points. Mackinnon just got 2nd most home points. McDavid is closing on other records. It is still just insane that all of these records are held by Gretzky and in the future there will be 100 different players each with one of gretzkys records.

Thank you for giving a shoutout to Kucherov. So much talk about McDavid and McKinnon. And not to take away from their play or season, but somehow Kucherov has flown under the radar while being first in points.

What a great video. Really illustrates what a nightmare it is to play against McDavid

It would be really cool to see a side by side comparison of great teams from different eras. Could show how they were different, how they utilized the tools they had, and what the evolution of the league was like. Would be so cool to see a side by side of say like the oilers rn with a young Ovy on the caps (feel like Edmonton is doing what Washington did well in their young ovy years)

It's not impossible that McDavid catches gretzky in a few point categories honestly. He's liable to play longer, and better. One can just look at the other recent first overalls who've stuck around for reference on that.

He’s been in the league for 8-9 years now and playing with the second best player in the world? 4-5 combined MVP awards? I don’t even want to check how many Art Ross between the 2 of them. But the most important number that is still attached to both their names is a big fat 0!!! They’re not going to win a cup in Edmonton. All offense, no defense. Zach Hyman? A 50 goal scorer??? What a joke!!! He’s very lucky he plays with McDavid because he probably won’t even crack 30 goals in any other team!!! McDavid should sign with TB when he gets a chance. Go to a real team.

I don't think the Oilers LET him move around the zone in a power play, I think he just tells them that's what he's going to do.

He's a great individual player but none of that matters if his team doesn't win a cup. The whole point of this is to win the cup. It's why he puts skates on... if that doesnt happen then yes, that is on him. The GM surrounded him with another top 5 player, and another 1st overall pick and other depth pieces via UFA market.. They sold their future and 1st's for help so this is it... They're a playoff team, its time to lead. If they fail, this is on him.

Great players elevate their team that last step, that last hurdle. GM and ownership did what they could to get him a contending team. I think that if you're asking him to then push them over the top... then that's a fair ask. If he doesnt, then that's on him. He's had a few cracks at it now.

He has no cup greatest hockey players win cups don’t get points. McDavid can not overcome the physical play of playoff hockey. He pouts n he don’t have that strength to overcome it. Most skilled players are far far from the best hockey players that win important games n sacrafice getting hit n not crying after.
