The Next New Madrid Fault Line Earthquake: Worst Case Scenario

Ғылым және технология

In 1811 and 1812, the New Madrid fault line triggered a series of massive earthquakes that reversed the flow of the Mississippi River and shook the entire nation. These were some of the strongest earthquakes to ever strike the United States. And once again, this seismic time bomb is about to go off! Experts warn that the New Madrid fault line is one of the top earthquake risks in the United States, right up there with the San Andreas and Cascadia faults. If this earthquake occurs today, it will have a devastating impact on the region's millions of people, with entire cities potentially reduced to rubble and countless lives lost or forever changed. Memphis, Saint Louis, and other major metropolises are sitting ducks, completely unprepared for the devastating earthquakes that ravaged the region two centuries ago. The lack of preparedness is astounding, and the clock is ticking. But what is the true scale of the catastrophe if it occurs now? And what can we learn from the devastating 1811 and 1812 earthquakes? Join us as we explore the forgotten history of the New Madrid earthquakes and expert predictions that will have you ready for the worst.--

As someone who has lived in the region all my life, the general public has been fully aware of New Madrid since at least the 1980s. Almost all local governments, from the big cities down to the little towns, do have earthquake plans. And we are trying retrofit as much as we can. Just remember we're talking about tens of thousands of structures spread across several states, often in communities that have to pinch pennies just to supply water and sewer service. Modern buildings are built to standards that can survive earthquakes. The biggest issue is the massive number of old and historic masonry buildings that are literally everywhere.

Been in Missouri all my life, started looking into quakes about a decade ago. Around 5 years ago I noticed an uptick in small quakes (or tickles is how I explained it to my grandkids) they stayed under a 1.2, they went up between ,2 and,,4 every years for several years. I stopped watching them about 2 years ago when we hit an average of around 2.6 per year. It is coming, I think once we hit about a 3.6 or so the plate will move more. Not positive, but from watching people who pay more attention to them than me seems to be the way it goes.

I'm in California and have been through Big and small. Tips may help...First if your in the zone just lower items from walls and high places. 2nd have extra can food, water, petfood, some cash in small bills. If your feeling a surge of quakes do not sleep with bedroom doors closed because they can get jammed and you will be stuck in rooms. Also store water in sturdy jugs for toilets and whatever. Don't buy cheap gallon jugs of water unless your transferring.

@@CortexNewsService and what do you think of the numerous rials closures happening Today due to sink holes appearing, buckling if land, train derailments, bridges collapsing or being closed for maintenance due to unexpected structural damage etc? The Faulnis already under stress and recent 3.0 quakes have been noticed on the USGS! Please be ready to survive because we are ALREADY seeing the pre cataclysmic signs ready to blow off any moment! Out Earth is wobbling and the reversal of magnetic poles slowly undergoing. If you have or buy a battery powered clock, even better a few of them, you will witness how our governments are hiding from us what they know! Computers are showing a different time because they are updated worldwide, while the normal clocks show a difference of a few minutes throughout the year! Also look at the Moon and its craters. Some days, I witness Mare Crisium positioned at 1 o’clock (normal position) but within 24 hours it can show Mare Crisium positioned at 5 o’clock! WHAT IS INFLUENCING THAT?! Definitely NOT MANMADE. So, in my opinion, something huge is occurring and the public is being held oblivious as all mainstream media is CONTROLLED! Look at Etna, Iceland and the volcanoes along the fault lines! It’s crazy for mainstream media not to be calling our attention to these huge events at th level they should.

The Lisbon earthquake of Nov. 1, 1755, if I'm not mistaken, was the most severe and widespread earthquake known in recorded history where we have at least some extant documentations. The exact magnitude is not known, but considering how large groups of people were killed so very far away from the epicenter gives us a good estimate. I would say it was between a 10.5 and 12.8 as would be measured on the Richter scale. Many died in Madrid, Spain; probably a lot more than the Roman Catholic controlled region would want to admit as it was a high Sunday Mass when it hit. Some estimate a total of 60,000 people died, but it looks to me that was the number who died in Portugal and Spain, alone. It was the aftershocks and Tsunamis that brought the number to a much higher total than 60K. Everyone over the course of over a million square miles were unsuspectedly affected.
