@@Carma281 It does, the 2 in that position is saying that there's a group of two in that row, nothing more. If it were at the top (where the 1 is) it would mean there's a mine in that row and in that column. It makes more sense when you play and you can toy around with the UI helper.

Tyler does it in a way a little more complicated than I do, in this scenario I'd just do the left most, see how many are not bombs on the right, and take that number away stating from the left, the squares that go over 3, in this case, is the one with the bomb, there's no math this way so it's easier for me kdjxjxjc

@@Typhlosion952 since he voltorb flip is in a lot of pokemon fangames, i have played it fairly recently. 100% you have to guess for soem levels. you can definitely find the more likely spots for no voltorbs though. I do think one important thing to realise for that game though, is that its never worth clearng the board, 1 point squares have 0 value so you only need to click the 2 and 3 point squares to clear a level, this does help narrow it down a lot since you know that if the bombs+points of any row or column=5, then you dont have to click any of the squares in that row/column

@@Aliensrock Hmmm... it's unfortunately that people don't watch it for long, but it also makes sense why. Despite its vastly deep content, 14mv is the least visually and audibly entertaining out of all the minesweeper games you have played. It's made from the same developer of Understand, but at least Understand has funny levels plus different colors to make it visually enjoyable, while 14mv keeps the same color scheme all around and it's all strictly serious. Don't get me wrong, I bought and played 14mv as well after seeing you showcased it, and it is a really great brain teaser (sometimes too great actually when the levels become difficult). But I also understand that most of the gameplay itself (the deduction and reasoning) is really cut and dry, almost to the level of just watching someone else solving math equation. Still, thanks for the reply!

I love puzzles like this. There is only 1 solution so viewers can 'play along'. Puzzle games where there's multiple solutions or where characters/puzzle pieces need to be moved around are harder to play along with as the puzzle to be solved is effectively changing all the time.

So basically sudoku, if you're familiar with the slightly advanced strategies. You're just revealing mines instead of revealing numbers, and the levels can be more abstract. The skill ceiling is probably a tad bit lower than sudoku, since all of the logic is broadcasted right at you, but edit: maybe not since the question marks exist; it's just in a different direction. Always a fun day, seeing minesweeper on the Aliensrock channel.

There is a nonogram twist that I adore: Hungry Cat Nonogram. Instead of having a single color where the numbers refer to the groups you have to paint, you have multiple colors that can be circled, meaning that that colored group is contiguous and not circled, meaning that the color must have another color in between. The game has lots of grids, but every Tuesday, they release a new challenge grid composed of 9 grids as 3x3. I've been playing it since 2014 and it is still my favorite. I highly recommend it, even if it is a mobile game.

5:59 Tyler's proof that this tile is a mine doesn't actually work, as he never considered that *both* of the horizontal 3s could be entirely to the right of it. In fact, it's possible to sketch an entire solution to the puzzle that does that... except that it breaks the ? ? row that he hasn't yet understood. He gets lucky though, because when he does figure what that clue means, it does result in him being correct, but not for the reason he thought.
