Between this weakness and his greyscale, he’s likely to prove the greatest threat to Aegon’s cause…if that’s not “the human heart in conflcit with itself” then nothing is.

I like that Aegon told Con that he chose Rolly as Kings-guard because he knows that Rolly would die for him.

I hope the whole blackfyre vs targeryan fued doesn't just end with the blackfyres going extinct but instead even though this would be extremely unlikely the black Dragon marrying the red could finally bring a end to the over a century long fued

If Dany hadn’t stopped and gotten distracted in Slavers bay it probably would’ve happened. She was en route to Pentos where Illyrio and Varys would’ve married her to young Griff.

Well, it’s no BEEEEESBURY!

So, here's my (crazy) prediction for fAegon's Kingsguard: 1. Duck - Already there 2. Darkstar - Makes sense 3. Loras - Will switch sides 4. Balon Swann - I think that he might also betray Lannisters, since I recall conversation between him and Jaime in which Jaime questions his loyalty to the throne (that might be foreshadowing). Also, I kinda like him so I don't want him dead. 5. one of the good Freys - It's been mentioned that there are several Freys who opposed Red Wedding so they would team up with fAegon in attempt to remove their rotten siblings from power and redeem their family. 6. one of the Redwyne boys - if I remember correctly, they are both at Red Keep right now, so fAegon will likely free them. It will also be a good move to gain Redwyne's favor, especially since papa Redwyne will likely be obliterated by Euron soon. This could also show that picking Kingsguard knights based on their house is not always the best idea. 7. Brienne - I just think that would've been cool thing to happen, since there's no way she'll bend her knee to true king Stannis. Or she'll just go to Vale and hang around with Sansa.

I think Brienne is going to be one of the POVs Martin has to kill off…same with Asha and Barristan. They’ve all reached the limit of their narrative usefulness and at points where killing them off would be arc-satisfying (Brienne, perhaps, defending Jaime from Stoneheart; Asha will facilitate Theon’s Kingsmoot; and Barristan has one last blaze of glory at the Battle of Fire.

I like the idea of Perwyn or Olyvar Frey as Kingsguard. They were excluded from the Red Wedding due to their loyalty to Robb and might be in the area of King's Landing since their mother was a Rosby and they may not be welcome in the Twins due to their non involvement in the Red Wedding. Gyles Rosby dies without issue in AFFC and Perwyn or Olyvar might be in line to inherit Rosby, which would stick someone who hates the Lannisters into power right into Cersei's periphery as the Golden Company invades. Olyvar Frey is probably Gyles Rosby's unnamed ward and it's suggested that the unnamed ward might claim Rosby for himself after Gyles Rosby dies. Either way, one of them will probably get Rosby and the other will be a good candidate for Aegon VI's Kingsguard.

If illyrio just had a better communication skills he would have told Barristan about his plan to wed young griff and Daenerys and Barristan would have convinced Dany to head west and he’d be lord commander under Aegon and Daenerys joint rule.

Illyrio probably didn't want Aegon's identity to become known until they started the invasion. Telling Selmy risks the secret spreading through slavers bay and to Westeros. Assuming ofc that Illyrio even wanted Dany and Aegon to marry, and didn't just want to steal Dany's dragons.

In one of Preston J’s latest Tyrion videos (love Preston) he noted that Tyrion III ADWD has an extremely long description of Duck when they first meet… he was talking about how pointless it felt, and perhaps it doesn’t move the surface plot forward, but it really drives home the themes and ideas surrounding knighthood, its honor or lack thereof- the struggle to uphold contradictory vows, or what separates a knight from the common sell sword or highwayman. For that reason I love the character of Duck. He stands beside Oakheart, Barristan, Jaime, Brienne, Duncan, the Kettleblacks (all Kingsgaurd) even perhaps the Others in AGoT Prologue as Knights and their relationship with duty. On a side note I find it surprising that Barristan was never an intended POV… with Jaime and especially with the Soiled Knight in Feast Barristan’s inclusion seems a natural fit.

Duck might get involved in Dunk style duels in the future, maybe against Daenerys's champion (as she engages in champion activities too) or capture castles/ Houses for the Faegon cause by duels.

Something this video highlighted is how goddamn funny Martin's writing is, even though it's not something people talk about much. The entire story of Duckfield is a hilarious, as is that ducklings line from Griff, as well as Tyrion's observations of this part of the book.

If Darkstar joins, that would be the negative version of Arthur Dayne. Aegon VI having a very skilled but morally questionable King's Guard would be cool to see. Especially if this pattern continues and we get other "negative" versions of legendary King's Guard. Maybe Dany comes to Westeros and agrees to marry Aegon, but with several conditions, like her choosing the rest of their King's Guard.

The hammer and anvil connection! You included the pictures, but didn't mention the connection. Dunk's knighthood began with a "hammer and anvil" so to speak, as did Duck's.

At 6:45, House Cargyll is misspelled as House Cargill during the chapter of the Cargyll Twins. Just a note I noticed, but great video talking about this hopeful and young knight. To me, Aegon and Rolly represent that simpler time of old, where they try to reflect on the legacies of Duncan the Tall, Aemon the Dragonknight, and Arthur Dayne, that time of grandeur and wonder before they were killed. Likely George means to have them as a parallel to those days, as he often does, where the good and honourable people die before the start of the series, and will either show them succeeding in their efforts to bring back that wonder, or have them die, too young and naive to realize the world doesn't work that way, and never will.

Check Ser Duck out when he falls overboard-he pops right back up, asking for someone to pull him in. Tyrion throws him a line. Duck should have sank-he has some armor on. And Tyrion sank like a rock...how much armor did Tyrion have on when he went overboard? How is Duck popping right back up {like a duck would} and Tyrion sinks like a stone?

If it duck and dark star then these would clearly bebthe best king gard for story of these two alone.

I feel that Connigton loathing of Rolly as "Lord Commander" is a way for us to see how.....incompetent, Jon Connignton really is. There is no "upjumped" in the Kingsguard. What you need to be a Kingsguard is loaylty to the King and knowing how to use the sword. Rolly seems to know how to fight and he trained Aegon, so they DO have a bond. If anything it is a good move on Aegon's part. Rolly only wanted to be a Knight, now he is the highest Knight in the Kingdom/Golden Company. He has no other loyalties than Aegon and the Golden company. There is no better choice than Ser Rolly for Lord commander. I feel that Jon Connigton beliving himself more mature and wiser than he really is will be the downfall of Aegon's adventure. The man emulates Tywin, one of the most incompetent Lords in Westeros. I mean Tyrion played him for a fool without issue. Connigton is going to have an espectacular failure.

I think his major beef with Rolly is that he's a nobody when it comes to Westerosi nobility. JonCon wants hostages just as much if not more then a good Kingsguard Sure, to you or I Rolly is an amazing if not perfect Kingsguard pick. But to a prick like JonCon, he's only adequate

I have quite the same thought. Jon Con’s infected not only with greyscale but a terminal case of nostalgia, to the point he’s unable to recognize the benefits of having an utterly devoted Kingsguard. His own idea of appointing the sons of the noblest houses to gain loyalty rather than reward, while politically intriguing, only exposes the dangers of another Kingslayer.

House Swann has a waterfowl on their sigil so that makes to at least in Westeros.

Darkstar will be on his Kingsguard as well as: Donnel Swann Archibald Yronwood maybe even the Hound - He is with The Faith and The Faith might support Aegon because of the unrest in the realm, and he isn't a dragon rider whereas Dany will be riding those demons of destruction into battle.

1:39 how is tommens kingsguard terrible and getting worse? Balon swann is a good fighter and loyal. Loras tyrell is a good fighter and unless the tyrells switch sides will probably stay loyal. Robert strong/gregor clegane is a good fighter and is loyal to cersei/qyburn whom won't fight tommen. Jaime lannister used to be a good fighter then ceased to be for reasons that weren't his fault and i don't think will betray tommen. The other three are bad yes but its not getting worse its getting better.

Cargill is not the only waterfowl sigil. I think it's more likely that ugly Duckworth is going to turn out to be a Swann

If Darkstar joins Aegon's kingsguard I'd love if Ned Dayne joined someone else's, whether that be Dany as she's most likely to be in opposition to Aegon or his milk brother Jon should he press his claim on the throne or just be content with being the king in the North and Riverlands à la Robb's will (I know GRRM hasn't confirmed who Robb named but I can't imagine anyone else Robb could name)

Since the future of House Dayne rests on Ned's young shoulders, I don't see him in the Kingsguard (he's also like 13?), but I do like the idea of him backing someone else. Like, Darkstar allying with fAegon á'la discounted version of Rhaegar and Arthur, would the sign for him to avoid that faction.

He had many names in every place he come and the first duck who show a raging duck is force to be reckon with and should be feared. With him traumatize his enemy while tear every town that pissed him off, now aging but thanks to his grandtriplet and nephew his ember lit again

That "duck" is more likely to be a goose. The length of it's neck and length of its body make it most likely to be a goose. However, there are ducks that are very similar in dimension to geese so this is really impossible based on a cartoon drawing. But its a goose.

Yes but balon crowned himself after renly died, so there was never 5 kings at one time unless you count mance.

Jamie is by far the best person out of his brother's in the knigs guard.

huh... this is a bit of a ramble

The exchange between JonCon and FAegon about his appointment of Duckfield is super interesting. I don’t remember exact wording, but I do remember something along the lines of: JonCon: Don’t appoint him, you should appoint someone of a higher station. FAegon: He’d die for me, and that’s all I need. The Kingslayer was of a high station. With that in mind, I think that the foreshadowing is a bit obvious. Rolly will die defending FAegon. ------ Additionally, the part about renowned knights is interesting to ponder. A renowned knight isn’t necessarily a good kingsguard. What I really think, is that Barristan will survive the battle of fire. And he’ll watch as, over the course of the journey to Westeros, Daenerys falls deeper into paranoia, prophecy, the red god, fire and blood. Barristan has always despised Jaime Lannister. He’s always seen him as a monster for killing his king. But unbeknownst to Barristan, Jaime killed Aerys to save King’s Landing from fire. And perhaps, in a crescendo of madness, Daenerys will order the burning of King’s Landing. After all, they worship seven false gods, and cheered for a false Aegon. And then Barristan will be the one to kill Daenerys. Perhaps he justifies it by telling himself she’s a false queen. Perhaps he justifies it considering her madness. Perhaps he can’t justify it to himself, and hates himself for it. But deep down, he knows what’s right. And Barristan soils his cloak for the good of the realm. (I’m not at all certain of this prediction but it’d be fuckin sick)
