The New York Giants are in SERIOUS Trouble.

Спорт

The New York Giants are in serious, serious trouble. Their Quarterback Daniel Jones played horribly last year, but when diving into the film, it wasn’t really his fault. No, he’s not good, but he didn’t stand a chance based on the Giants lack of surrounding talent, ability to scheme open receivers, or inability to protect their Quarterback. How bad was this whole thing? This week’s episode uses the coaches all 22 game film to analyze the New York Giants horrible offense surrounding their Quarterback Daniel Jones.

The #1 problem for the Giants has remained the same for a decade now - they can't build even a mediocre offensive line and without one you will never be able to consistently compete in the league. At least Schoen now seems to be determined to invest resources into solving this issue, but it's impossible to predict if this year's line will turn out better than last year's line. I hate to say it, but I don't believe Evan Neal will ever play well for the Giants.

The only QB on our roster who does have a little bit is Tyrod (still not great at it), and he played for like 5 minutes before getting hurt as he always has in his career. @@yepdontcarebud Jones gets the ball out at an okay speed when you take out QB runs. Something I did not know. was that on a run play for the QB even when they past the line of scrimmage and can't throw anymore it still clocks them while holding onto the ball running for like 8 seconds. So pure pocket passers get the ball out quicker almost always by the numbers just off that alone. Granted yes both Jones and divitto held onto the ball a bit too long sometimes but it definitely only accounted for maybe the occasional sack here and there. Main thing was both guys didn't throw the ball away enough on 1st And 2nd down when none of the receivers got open And ths line failed. But again 2 other things were also going wrong. You got to be good at all 3 levels of offense. They were basically just a rushing team. Even the offensive line was better in the run than pass for sure.

I think the front office did their job in the offseason. They fired the OL coach Bobby Johnson, signed Runyan and Eluemunor, added some depth too. No primetime names but with good coaching they can play well as a unit. Joe Schoen wanted to trade for Maye but it was impossible to get him. He didn't see the franchise potential in the available QB's so he drafted Nabers. I think everybody is happy with this decision or at least can live with that unless u r a big McCarthy/Penix/Nix believer. There is still room to improve but the supporting cast has to be better. As I see the other problem was the preparation. I don't have a chance to go and watch the training camp but as I heard it was too soft and the team wasn't ready for the season. The tough schedule also didn't help and made things look ugly. I hope Daboll and his staff also noticed that. Speaking of Jones, Schoen doesn't see him as a franchise QB right now but this team needs him this year. His '22 form can return with better OL and WR play but he needs to regain his confidence first (that won't happen if he still has to run for his life every second play).

Elite QBs read the D in 2.3 seconds and throws to the correct option based on if its Cover 1 man or cover 2 man, if its not man then cover 2 zone, cover 3 or cover 4 quarters. The first thing, the read we can make on the couch is if its Middle of the Field Open or Closed: MOFO or MOFC which means a safety in the middle or no safety middle will change go routes into a post to the vacant middle.

Great video. I was get called a Daniel Jones fanboy whenever I defend him for the fact his team is utterly awful. While he isn't one of the best quarterbacks in the league and there is room to improve at the position, there are much more important areas of weakness that are far worse on the offense that NEEDED to be addressed first. The only year that Daniel played with an OL that wasn't BOTTOM 5 in the league (ranked 21st I think) they made the playoffs and won a game. I'm not saying he's the guy, but he's far from the main problem right now.

Every single Giants fan needs to watch this. I disagree that they will be awful in 2024 because they are lacking foundation - they have improved the roster this off season by bringing in some good talent. I hope Daboll calling plays helps the offense but ultimately, their success this year all hinges on the offensive live.

When last season is talked about for the NY Giants QB's and the backups playing better, jones faced Cowboys, 49ers, seahawks , dolphins. He had a rough schedule, ppl were injured, the didn't address the O*line until after ward with Pugh etc..... Just saying, it's hard to judge when they haven't given the dude a decent shot. The cardinals game, the second half, should show he atleeast has SOME of it in him.

Great video! I am curious though, what was the difference between 2022 and 2023 that the Giants were so much more successful in 2022 than in 2023, despite having the same coach, the same quarterback, and mostly the same supporting cast? I live in the NY/NJ area, so I hear a lot of Giants talk. I also have an older brother that is a Giants fan, and he has sounded the alarm on the Giants' issues a long time ago. I believe it was back in 2014 or 2015 that he suggested that the Giants should have been looking for Eli Manning's successor. He also suggested after the 2023 sesson ended that perhaps Daniel Jones would look much more competent if the Giants had better receivers. Perhaps the Malik Nabers draft pick will test this theory. The Giants haven't had a "good" receiver since Odell Beckham, and he hasn't been on the team since 2018! It seems like for a long time now, the Giants have been deficient at receiver and at offensive line. Whether it be with Eli or with Daniel Jones, it's the same problems. As someone pointed out to me last season, the Giants have been trying to fix their offensive line since the second Patriots Super Bowl win, and it still isn't "good*. Overall, it seems as times as if the Giants are a bad team, that doesn't seem to be aware that they are a bad team.

3:48 Evan Neal stands straight up and crosses his feet, leading to him easily being shedded. At a HS level you are taught elementary basic concepts like wide base, low man wins. In the clip Neal false steps and takes a step backwards with his left foot, instead of taking a 45 degree angle step toward the defender. His footwork and fundamentals are atrocious. Giants must have drafted him on athletic ability, but without technique he is revolving door.

I'm glad we got another weapon this year but if pass rushers get to tee off on DJ and Lock what's the point?? We almost broke Devito before he got pulled. The kid took a beating till he lost that edge . Taylor put a decent game out there vs the eagles but his other games were the same ole no time in the the pocket & scramble for dear life scenerios.

Who was QBing the Giants in 2022? What QB after DJ is better than DJ? Keep in mind DJ was the Senior Bowl MVP. Drew Lock was the next QB drafted in round 2. Will Grear was drafted in round 3. The Giants don't have a QB problem. They had an OL coach problem, and he's gone. Jim Harbaugh didn't trust JJ McCarthy, which is why he leaned on the run game. Bo Nix got chased out of the SEC. Michael Penix Jr. had a very good WR room.
