The New Versatile Fury High Speed Disk

Фильм және анимация

Video of the all new Versatile Fury High speed disk being pulled by a Versatile Delta Track 550 tractor near Wakarusa Indiana. I shot this video in September 2017 but this was a pre-production unit and was not public knowledge. As of January 12, 2018 Versatile has now introduced this machine to the public and I can post this video. I have a couple more videos of these machines in action in Illinois and Iowa that I will be uploading the near future. I will also be posting pictures of this machine on my Instagram page soon @farmhand_mike686
One of these machines will also be on display at the 2018 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville Kentucky February 14-17.

Excellent. These videos and your channel are so great, for a multiplicity of reasons. I'm grateful for your good channel, the work of your hands, and that in your expertise you'd be willing to share what you know.

Thank you. On an unrelated note, because you seemingly have the ear of the manufacturer(s) I can simply offer my opinion here, as a customer of said manufacturers. Between the options when purchasing new equipment as a producer in Alberta, if the difference is between a luxury tractor (or implements) when I simply do not care about luxury, and a tractor (or implements) that have outboard planetaries that I can easily rebuild personally as a mere farmer, with an inline cummins engine that I can work on and rebuild personally as a mere farmer, then this becomes an absolute no-brainer. If I cannot change the oil or fix a stupid software problem as a man who loves the digital computer advantages of that interface, then I'd rather throw that garbage in the manure pile and buy an old Big Bud or Tiger IV etc. I have a few hired men on my farm, and I'd never ask of them that which I'd be unwilling to do myself. But luxury is nothing in comparison to being able to fix my own tractor, or combine, so to speak. Also, in another sense, for four generations my farming family has had blood which remains flowing with John Deere green color lol, to exaggerate, the majority reason being the following. John Deere for decades postured itself as the farmers best friend, and what my 4 great-uncles absolutely love most about John Deere is that they can spend some time in the winter, for sentimental reasons alone, fixing up a 1956 John Deere 820 or 1964 4020 and still go to our local dealership and get parts for it, or still go to a wrecker and get parts for it, and he/they are still able to bring that tractor to better than new working condition. Now, comparatively, a luxury tractor is only luxury for so long, because it is disposable, and for economic reasons it will never be otherwise. Versatile has always had a place in our hearts because they have always postured themselves as being a farmers best friend, producing equipment that is lovably overbuilt and always rebuildable, when or if necessary, by a mere humble farmer such as myself. I hope they never go the route of other manufacturers, who go from being a farmers best friend to being almost their worst enemy. Going from a decades old rightful honest slogan of "We want to make the farmer profitable, because if the farmer isn't profitable, we cannot be profitable" to an implicit slogan of "In the interest of our stockholders, we need to be as parasitic and disingenuous to the uneducauted naive farmers as possible." I hope Versatile never loses their heritage, and roots, and what made them the greatest manufacturer of 4WD's on the planet, all through my childhood. I am not the only farmer who feels/thinks this. Respectfully and with due appreciation.

My old man used to crab at me when we run the disk too fast and left ridges, this gives new meaning to fast! Really takes some horsepower to get that thing moving, dose a nice job of seedbed prep.

Mike: Back in the mid sixty,s we had corn wagons that used a aux power unit to unload at the blower. Wagon had a backstop that was pulled to the back with cables driven by a gas driven racket unit that hooked onto a shaft at the back of the wagon. Once wagon was empty you pulled the backstop back up to the front with a crank at front of wagon. Have you ever seen a video of one of these. I have tried to explain this unit to my much younger brother and have not been able to find a picture or video of this system in action. Love your videos always.

Hey Mike the video that versatile put out shows the tool plugged up having dealt with field cultivator,a disk Chisel and they plow it would be something I wouldn’t want it ,could been just a fluke. They need to take theirs down and put yours up yours looked impressive

  • @farmhandmike

Probably just a fluke. I was in the field with 3 different ones last fall in Iowa, Illinois and Indiana and had no plugging issues. I could see the possibility of a rock getting caught just right between two blades though. And I'm sure just like it happening on a regular disk it would plug.

Not 100% sure but when it was folding out the one tire was carrying a lot of the weight for a bit. I noticed it was low when we were folding it out in the dealers yard but that was before PDI.

8-12 horsepower I believe but a lot depends on conditions and if you want to run 8 MPH or 12 MPH. I have a video coming of this running in corn stalks and they were only running 8.5 because of rocks in the field.

Isn’t that hard on the drivetrain pulling implements that fast? I was always told anything above 8mph on a tractor was a disaster for the drivetrain including new tractors.
