Those harmonies at the end still give me goose bumps, even after 30 years of listening to this song.

Back then when cassette tapes were still a thing, I had this song on repeat along with other Andrew Lloyd Webber classics.

Poppa = Old deuteromony, Greaseball = Tugger, Rusty = Grizabella,Electra = camp Misto. Red CStarlight Express = Heavyside Layer. The layout for the end of Pumping Iron is pretty simular to 'Rum Tum Tugger'. Then the reference from Joseph is the megamix (or the other way around...I can't remember when Joseph started) which is also at the end of Starlight. I've seen the UK tour, seeing as that it is where I live, so it could well be different for the World Tour! It was fun noting the refs from it!

No they don't sing this song. I've just been to see it. This song has been replaced by a song composed by Andrew LLoyd Webbers' son Alastair LLoyd Webber, it' called "I Do". Don't worry the show is still amazing even with all the changes :)

This song wasnt in the original and wasnt produced by Really Useful Group as I have bough the CD of the new Starlight Express and it says it. The original songs were released in 1984 and this was in 1993

you are correct. the tune originates from the Original London Cast of CATS (it was heard during "Growltiger's Last Stand" as a song called "the Ballad Of Billy McCaw"

Danny is correct. Andrew Lloyd Webber made several changes to the original production of Starlight Express in 1993 and rebranded it. This song has its roots in the song from Cats which was cut and replace with the operatic parody in Growltiger. ALW is famous for recycling his tunes

ANDREW HOLTON and when Growltiger was cut from the Broadway revival, I heard they took the tune from "Growltiger" and ended up using it for Pekes & Pollicles which was moved to Act II where Growltiger used to be
