Regardless how some countries interpreted China ambitions China has been influential and beneficial to global economy in many ways. They are not stopping regardless how hard the US tried to contain them and put any effort to influence the world how bad China is, China marches on without threatening anybody with military might instead China threw in billions of dollars to create this initiative to create prosperity and opportunities for its neighbouring countries. That is impressive. The world needs to look at China in a positive way and join hands to create a better, a more peaceful and cooperative environment for the world.

So far what they did is putting developing countries under debt which these countries can't pay because they keep increasing fees which ultimately results in giving China a good chunk of land instead. It might doesn't involve forceful overtaking but it doesn't matter really in which way they acquire control over other countries. Just saying. Soon whole SEA will be China and the regime isn't known for tolerating other ethnics or religions.

Rich countries like Italy (I know their economy is in pieces but globally speaking they are still quite rich) sold ports and shit to China and now they control their ex- and import. The new silk road is a new way to expand China's export business. Currently US is the biggest importer of China's export goods, therefore it would be hard to deviate itself from the US dollars but with the new silk road, China is trying to expand it's clienteles away from the US market. Once it is developed, China will move away from the petro-dollar, which will be the final days of the US printing press. US will file bankruptcy so fast, the americans won't even know what hit them.

August 23, 2019 45th President of the United States of America Donald J. Trump posted the following posts on twitter @realDonaldTrump Our Country has lost, stupidly, Trillions of Dollars with China over many years. They have stolen our Intellectual Property at a rate of Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year, & they want to continue. I won’t let that happen! We don’t need China and, frankly, would be far.... ....better off without them. The vast amounts of money made and stolen by China from the United States, year after year, for decades, will and must STOP. Question is why do you want to destroy America or any country for that matter? Grow organically, economic growth is not the most important thing in the world. Everybody needs to be factored in and there will be many people who'se livelihoods will completely change for bad as well. Not to speak of the environment and the Earth.

Economic inequality is the roots of war. BRI will help to tackle that. There is no rationale for nations to conquor the whole world anymore, just regional readjustments. International trade needs customers who can pay, so it is only logical to maintain prosperity throughout the world.

  • @EdwinaTS

@zak quen If you merely think of trade as an exchange of goods, then you do not understand business & economics. If say you can buy great tools at a good price from China to set up a business to produce more valuable output, be that be services or goods or merely resell, then it is a good deal for you eventhough you may not have something to sell to China. If you have ambition to do big business, you need to be able to reach buyers & sellers from big markets. And BRI is the infrastructure that enables such ambitions to be realised. If you believe you have the ability to make it in the world, try, but it requires a tough mind to make it in the world. Stay landlocked, then you remain poor generation after generation. Winners become rich and losers are just losers.

*Actually...the so called "Silk Road" started and ended in Japan...by the way of trading vessels...The "Wa-kuo Invisible Bridge" connected the Land of Wa(Japan) to the Land of Pharaohs(Egypt)...the representative and prove of that is the thousands years old symbol of the city of Yamagata...a flower from Egypt/Ethiopia(Safflower)...In Japan, dyers have mastered the technique of producing a bright red to orange-red dye (known as carthamin) from the dried florets of safflower (Carthamus tinctorius). A bath solution of cold water is first prepared, to which is added the collected extract made from a type of plum causes the colorant to precipitate onto a piece of silk.Plants are 30 to 150 cm (12 to 59 in) tall with globular flower heads having yellow, orange, or red flowers.Safflower is one of humanity's oldest crops. Chemical analysis of ancient Egyptian textiles dated to the Twelfth Dynasty identified dyes made from safflower, and garlands made from safflowers were found in the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun. The history of the "Silk Road" pre-dates the Han Dynasty in practice.*
