Recently purchased a D2x and it has reignighted my love of photography! I was using a D610 and before that a D300s. I have now also ordered a D2h! I love the way you have to work harder to get the exposure. back to basics.

Cool. I really enjoy that back to basics mentality. It makes you think twice about the photo.

I always wanted to know how much of a difference in image quality is there between the D2h and D2x. I recently picked up a d2h for 50$ and I keep seeing vids about the d2x saying how nice it is.
Hi from Germany! A few month ago i bought a D2x and i'm enjoy this camera as wellas you do! The picture quality is really fantastic. Normally i use the D7500. But the D2x make more fun! Thank you for your work! Best Regards from Northern Germany (Oldenburg)! Jörg

Cool, well it is a “in the shadows” sort of deal with the D2 series in my mind, since it was so shortly after its introduction replaced with the “Fabled Full-Frame-D3”…Have the predecessor D7200 so I know that series of Nikon as well, it´s a good system too. Danke sehr!
Good to see you again Tobias! Great video! I enjoyed watching all the Nikon equipment. Take care from NY USA!

Thank you!, well you find a brand you like and then it sort of snowballs from there…if the interest is there. Have actually visited NYC, I think it was…. Oh Sh** 10yares ago (time flyes).

@@1989Goodspeed I live in northern New York, so the mountains...thanks for the video!
Love this camera. Like you I got mine very cheaply, only cost me £100.00 and, when I checked the shutter count, I found it to be... 19,700 actuations which equates to only 13% of the total.. Only downside to this camera is that I can't find an L-bracket that allows me access to the battery chamber. Otherwise it's exceptional in every way. Who needs 20+ megapixels..??? Really enjoy your videos - love to see more about the D2Xs.
Just bought a Nikon D2Xs from ebay its my first DSLR hope to learn how to use a DSLR using this. Thanks for the videos.

Super!, well I hope you enjoy it! it really is a brilliant camera (as long as you don´t crank the ISO way up then it gets grainy/noisy quickly). Have a few videos about it now so I can say with some confidence that a clean example will be a cool tool in taking for photography. Really grate to use with flashes too.

@@1989Goodspeed I certainly need to watch all the videos I can. I'm doing OK with the older Nikon18-35 mm lens that came with the camera, but I get very dark images when I try to use a Venus 2:1 super macroV-DX 2:1 by Laowalens. I'd hoped to get some great insect macros with this lens.

Oh, VenusOptics Laowa i really like there lenses, don’t own any of them myself for now but I have been looking at the 24mm Probe Lens and the 15mm wide angle macro. And I think Christopher Frost did a good video about the lens you have. Anyway, well with macro extra light is the name of the game. I have done some macro work this summer, mostly flower and insects and I always use fill flash. I mainly use a Nikon CS-29 flash cable and a BS-800 or SB-900 flash. It is a bit of a learning curve but it works for me Example: kzread.info/dash/bejne/im2GttdvlZaZaNo.html

@@1989Goodspeed Do have a favorite LED ring light that will work with the D2Xs its for use with the 60 mm Venus Optics Laowa lens (but that lens takes 62 mm filters etc).

I actually don’t use a ring light. I do have an older SUNPAK ring flash that I almost forgot I had. So I don’t have that much experience with it… but another commenter (Janis Denby) recommended me the: MARUMI ring flash, apparently it has worked grate for them and it is ferly inexpensive on E-Bay. So I don’t have any experience with the MARUMI for myself but it is what was recommended to me. The SUNPAK is an older more manual system but works.
What is a good all around lens for the D2XS? I’m seeing a trend of people going back to the older digital cameras.

Well I would say any modern or vintage DX or FX lens would work on this camera (not shore about Non-Ai lenses though). But as a “starting ground” for general photography from my own experience... Maybe theese two lenses: AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2,8G IF-ED and Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR Zoom (the version with the RED VR marking). In my mind those two lenses are my “go to” weekend or holiday lenses if I am taking a DX camera like the D2Xs.

I just inherited this camera and would like to use it for Astro photography. What are the settings I should use?

Ok, cool. Well astro photography is something I haven’t dabbled in myself but I know you need a tripod and fairly light strong lenses, from what I have seen most people use prime lenses and manual focus. But since it is an aria of photography I know little about… I think I know a channel that might be of help: AstroBackyard: kzread.info/dron/n3npsPixgoi_xLdCg9J-LQ.html .
After some test and comparisons and having owned a Nikon D3X for years I cannot understand all this repenting return to the corpse of the old and out of features D2x in any of its models. 'Build as a truck" are saying some around. I personally prefer a Ford, a Chevy, etc... "Nice pictures" are saying others... Of course, but the dynamic range is more limited than with my older Nikkormat if you applied the Zone System for B&W film... From that time if you want a truck to take pictures go to the D3X ( that has no crop sensor and have 24 MP) Just remember that Ford and Chevy are not comfortable hanging from your neck...
