Am in Africa, but I never knew about TLM my mother told us about it sung songs but we never understood what it was. Until in 2020 when I learnt about it. And I now attend only TLM. It is fulfilling. The Almighty God led me to what I longed for but didn't know. I even went to Pentecostals yearning and searchingly but it was even worse, I tried charismatic renewal but my spirit got tired and fed up . I longed for the tridentine which I used to attend when I was young, but it was no where to be found. I thank mother Mary for leading me to the truth. May I live and potray it's truth.

I cannot get over how well I was educated in the Faith by the nuns back in the 50s!!! Some people are saying about the TLM: ''Well, we didn't understand anything!'' as the prayers were in latin. The nuns taught me how to serve mass (although I never did!). I had to learn all the prayers in latin (note that I was below 10 years old!). But the nuns explained everything... I understood everything. .. and I still do to this day as I can see from this documentary. NO started in my parish with a rock band... I walked out!... and I was nelow 20! So much for attracting the yourhs!

Jewish convert to Roman Catholicism here. *The TLM makes perfect sense to me, as a Hebrew.* It is the most wonderful, awful, terrifying, sanctifying thing in the world, once one understands the _full significance_ of each prayer and gesture, in context. The NO is an aberration, without any dignity, an awkward performance, that conduces away from the verticality of the truth, toward the horizontality of the flux of worldy experiences.

What does Jewish mean? Many things. It is commonly referred to the post scriptural Rabinic (man made) religion expressed in Talmud (essentially the Mishna, but reduced to writing, an occult gnosis, “secret knowledge” obtained during the worship of the golden calf, a satanic religion carried on by repetition and memory to protect its secrets), finally reduced to writing in Babylon after the destruction of the temple in 79 AD. Let’s call them “Judaics” who believe in “Modern Judaism” When you boil it down into its essence it, to its “Jewish” adherents who themes become their own because to the goyim, everyone not “Jewish” adherents to the Talmud, the “Jew” has the right to do whatever he wills to goyim, device, steal from, rape, murder. It is imilar to the Islamic right of Muslims over infidels. Judaism rejects the profits any many books of the pre-Christian Septuagint including the prophets and their prophet books about the Mesias: Isais, Jeremias, Ezechiel, Zachariah, & Malachias, and of course and especially the religion of Faithful Israelites who believed in the Father Yahweh, and who had eyes to see and ears to hear and became or become true Catholics in obedience to God. Jewish today by definition means a rejection of the Mesias who is the second person of the Holy Trinity. John 14: 6 Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me. 2 John 9 Whosoever revolteth, and continueth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that continueth in the doctrine, the same hath both the Father and the Son. I think many if not all references to Jews in the New Testament refers primarily to such as them that wanted a carnal worldly kingdom whereby the few Judaics rule the world, who preferred the rules of Men over God.

With respect, brother, the liturgy of classical Judaism is unsurpassingly powerful and brilliant in its theological richness, beauty, and immersion in Scripture. I don't know, of course, what kind of Jewish upbringing you received, but I'm sorry you were not given full access to the way of Torah. I recognize Christians as fellow travelers when they are not trying to convert Am Yisrael away from its covenant with God (or otherwise follow in the harmful footsteps of their ancestors), but Christianity has many deep theological problems running through it from the Jewish perspective. For a Jew, it is totally unnecessary. Home will always be there for you.

  • @Louis.R

    @Louis.R

@@KingoftheJuice18 Thanks brother for your thoughtful, if uncharitable, reply. Firstly, I was brought up an orthodox Jew at a Jewish school in a Jewish home, with all varieties of Judaism as influences, and "full access to the way of Torah". Insofar as I am a circumcised and barmitzvah Jew according to the law, I am not "converted away from the Abrahamic covenant with God" merely because I am baptised in a ritual not recognised by the rabbis. I may be an apostate, but I remain a son of the flesh of Abraham like you. As regards Abraham's faith in God's Word, by baptism I am brought into unity, but you cannot understand this yet. Secondly, there is a difference not in degree, but in kind, between a synagogue liturgy, and the Sacrifice of the Mass. For one, the latter is a sacrifice, the former, an incanted reading, which, although very beautiful and God-oriented, is not a sacrifice. As regards the Sacrifice of the Mass, it is not merely a sacrifice either, but the representation of and participation in, the perfect, divine, final and atoning sacrifice of the ages. You cannot understand this yet. However, the idea that sacrifice is "totally unnecessary" is, even from a Jewish historical perspective, delusional and, from an orthodox religious perspective, heretical. The Jews will re-establish sacrifices when the Lord sends Messiah and the Temple is resurrected. Tolle lege, friend. God love you.

Sorry to say, you do not understand. Found this by accident, and it is not a valid Catholic site. It misrepresents some information and lies about others. I will only mention three problems: he never says "body, blood, soul, and divinity" but only "body and soul" being said at Mass. This is incorrect/it is a lie. He says the Mass said in English is invalid and a heresy, and it is not although he tries to present it as such. There are no dates for when the visual examples of the Mass said in English with variant forms were done, and in fact there is nothing to distinguish between his so-called examples of the Mass versus any other possible celebration that are often held in church. We are a universal church with variants, whether he wants to admit it or not. He said one can be a Catholic even if the Mass was taken away? Really? Then why such a long video of the value of the Latin Mass while labeling the other as blasphemous. How would we have the blessed sacrament of Holy Communion/the Eucharist which is the essence. This is either a heretical Catholic site or a protestant site instigating trouble where there need be none. The masquerade is holier than though people pretending to love the faith while tearing it down.

@@Andrea-jq4ts Their's a time and a place for dancing. The Mass is totally different. We can certainly dance for the Lord, but the context of the Mass would deem such an action irreverent and inappropriate. In Holy Mass we unite our prayers to the priest (in persona Christi) who then offers them to the Father on our behalf, in turn, we receive Jesus. Dancing has no part of this, it detracts from this Sacred Mystery we as Catholics profess. God loves dancing. But their's a time and a place, just like any behavior depends on the circumstance. Dancing can accompany prayer, but not contemplative prayer which the Saint's say is cultivated in the soul during Holy Mass. Contemplative prayer is the deepest and most interior form of prayer we can seek to have. I would point you to St. Theresa of Avila's "Interior Castle." I hope this helps understand why he thinks its "disgusting!"

@@Andrea-jq4ts I don’t want to come off sideways or anything, but to a lot of Catholics (myself included) that dancing and tomfoolery is extremely disgusting and disrespectful. In the presence of Jesus, only respect and reverence should be shown. I could be wrong, but I personally feel, that this great disrespect shown is due to only a small percentage of people believe in the real presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist. Mass is not about dancing, it’s about the Holy Sacrifice and keep our mind body and soul completely focused on God and giving him everything and giving him the utmost respect. Humility is key and it is a virtue. I went to my first TLM last week and it was so amazing the respect that was shown. I could spiritually feel the difference, there was no distractions. And my question is this, if you were at mass completely trying to give your whole heart and soul to God in mass, and some people start playing guitars and dancing, would that be a total distraction and make you lose focus? TLM has Gregorian Chant which is extremely beautiful and it’s not distracting at all.

I understand what you are saying, and it is a worthy and obvious point, bc many priests conduct the Novus Ordo Mass in a very reverent manner (relatively speaking - turning their backs on Our Lord, administering Communion in the hand, etc., notwithstanding) These types of Masses were much more prevalent decades ago, and are now in certain "pockets". .. . That said, it's a necessary visual reminder that the Novus Ordo is wide open to an unimaginable array of abuses, and you will see that outrageous abuses ARE going on today, if you follow this stuff. There is simply no way to assure that such abuses (and lesser abuses) do not occur in the Novus Ordo Mass. it was, after all, designed with non-orthodox customization in mind. The TLM is a safe haven, and assurance of devout, orthodox, holy sacrifice of the Mass. More recently, 3 come to immediate recollection: Fr. Terry Keehan and his guitar blessing on the altar, terrible blasphemy, Fr, Jerry (fabulous) with his I-phone yoga breathing on the altar - (not to mention that yoga is pagan, but paganism seems to be the New Order trend). And of course there are the 2 "married" "Catholic dads giving the sermon in Chicago on Father's Day, lamenting their days of trying to "pray the gay away" while they congratulate themselves for being accepted as a married couple and parents, in the RC Church. - all while the priest gazes on with admiration...

This is such an important and insightful video. Thank you for producing this. I have only known the new rite and I now realise that I had been robbed of so much that is sacred in the faith. If we give up what is Catholic, what is there to identify us or to attract those from other religions to the true Faith. God has been so patient and working overtime to reach each one of us through this watered-down rite.

I always thought that V2 Mass was "off," although I couldn't say why as a child. I figured they were just going through the motions and it was flat and understood that inherently. As I got older, I knew that it was done on purpose to destroy it and that we had been denied our heritage and inherited a diminishment.

Thank you for this thoughtful video. I'm a convert of about 6 years, and we came into the Church in a Novus ordo Parish. Having grown up Episcopalian, the Novus Ordo "Mass" was not a huge "leap" for me. But in recent years, as I've learned the Faith more and more, I've become very TROUBLED by the very sorts of things you point out in this video. Recently, I did something that BROKE MY HEART... I watched a Lutheran Protestant Sunday "Service" on KZread - the comments indicate that most viewers thought it was a very GOOD Lutheran Service. The words differed, and some of the elements were in a different order - but it was otherwise Almost INDISTINGUISHABLE from a Novus Ordo "Mass". :-( Anibale Bugnini must be laughing from the pit of Hell...... :-(

Unfortunately I've become deeply involved in several ministries so leaving that parish entirely is out of the question at this point, but I go to a TLM when I can. A quick example on the prayers. The Confiteor in Latin acknowledges the priest offering the Sacrifice of the Mass for those present. No priest, no Mass. The Confiteor in English deletes the priest and just asks the brothers and sisters to pray for them. 2nd Confiteor watered down you see. The protestants don't believe it's the Sacrifice of Calvary.. How did they water down the Offertory prayers? They didn't. They deleted them all. Why? Because almost every one of them "smacks of sacrifice," as Michael Davies noted.

I'm guilty of singing a song at the choir of a Novus Ordo mass. But immediately after, I felt ashamed. My intention was to try and get people to focus on how beautiful Christ is during Communion, but it didn't feel that way afterwards - I just felt guilty. It was only a few weeks later that I realised, I'm not there to focus on myself or even on other people, but to focus on God...

Steven, you are not alone in your difficult situation. During the original lockdown I discovered the TLM on you tube celebrated at St John Cantius in Chicago. My eyes were opened to the vast difference between the TLM and the NO. It brought back memories of the Mass from my childhood. There are various reasons that I am unable to attend aTLM in person so I have continued to attend Mass via streaming. I miss receiving the Eucharist physically but pray that will eventually change. You may want to contact a traditional priest at St John Cantius and discuss your options. I will pray for you and all in the Church during this difficult time that there will be a conversion of heart of those attempting to destroy this long standing sacred tradition. Please pray for me as well. God bless you.

41:09 Watching this as an Orthodox...I was not aware the doxology "For Thine is the Kingdom..." was not present in the Tridentine Mass. This is of course, based on the version of the Our Father given in Matthew 6:13. For some reason, it is missing in the Vulgate. It is present in the Orthodox Greek (essentially the original text) and Slavonic translation of Matthew. In the Orthodox Church, whenever the Our Father is said, in either the Divine Liturgy or in one of the canonical hours, the doxology is included (which must be said by a priest - the rest of the prayer is typically said by a reader or deacon). So anyway, it is important to note that "For Thine is the Kingdom..." is not a Protestant invention, but is present in the original Greek and has been used in Eastern Orthodox liturgy since before the schism - the absence in the Roman Rite I surmise being due to the Vulgate being translated from different source manuscripts.

@@nifty1940 Yes, sure. And I do not want to pass myself off as an expert in Biblical texts. But yes, when the protestants starting making vernacular translations, they did not just translate the Latin Vulgate, they used the original Greek for the New Testament, which had become widely available after the edition published by Erasmus. The Greek contains "for thine is the Kingdom..." Wycliffe doesn't have it because that was just a Vulgate translation. Douey-Rheims is also based only on the Vulgate.

I go to Novus Ordo mass because I am young and I have never been in a traditional mass. There are some behaviors that you are showing here that I have never seen in mass. I understand the mass and every part. Some things that you are saying are fake or at least I have never seen them before. I love Jesus because of going to mass very often. You can judge things on how you see them but God judges the heart. The latin mass is beautiful and part or our tradition. But you cannot say that Novus Ordo is not valid. And protestants hate mass no matter what. They make fun of us. I think the holy spirit teaches us how to adore and behave in the church. At least he has taught me many things and specially to love mass and the most holy Trinity.

The Novus ordo service has many options. The use of multiple options allows each priest to tailor fit the service to whatever the people happen to believe. In a more conservative parish The priest will choose the more conservative option. However even the most conservative option in the Novus ordo has some basic problems. For starters it is not offered to atone for sin.

As the Apostles traveled throughout the world they did not have bibles to take with them. What they did have was the mass. The mass predates the Bible and in a way, is a kind of fifth Gospel account of the last supper. The Apostles adapted the mass to the lands to which they traveled. However, it is important to note that these adaptations to the liturgy were only accidental such as adding prayers to embellish the mass. The core substance of the mass remained as Christ established it. What is striking about these ancient liturgies is not their differences, but rather how much they have in common. For example, although the prayers of these various liturgies may occur in a slightly different order, and they may be worded slightly differently, they all still express the same sacramental reality. They all use the sign of the cross, they all put water and wine into the chalice, they all have prayer for the living and the dead, there are all offered to atone for sin, and so on and so on. The consistent properties of these ancient liturgies are irrefutable proof of the apostolic origin of the Mass.
