    I think he really should've stuck to highlighting the additives in modern day food like guar gum, meladextrine or whatever else. That type of stuff makes no sense to be in our food, and i doubt we've enough studies informing us of the long term effects of them. I would've appreciated if he went to call out co-op's, "bakery" foods. Something as basic as donuts and apple pie has a whole paragraph of ingredients, most being additives. That's what he should've focused on, instead he gets mad at a woman for eating a bagel from the lidl bakery, which compared to co-op, is actually fresh.

    If all carbohydrates are the same then nobody would have metabolic diseases but if carbohydrates are so bad, why would my body turn any excess protein in the excess fat into glycogen, especially taking some of that from my muscles or stored fat. My liver was Designed to do the right thing for my human function

  • @ExternusArmy

    @ExternusArmy

    Ай бұрын

    Metabolic disease is more complicated than just diet. In my opinion, the primary driver is obesity and caloric intake. For instance, it is virtually impossible to have a high cholesterol while actively losing weight, regardless of dietary cholesterol intake. Dietary cholesterol outside of a caloric deficit does actually increase serum cholesterol (unless it is so high that it won’t go any higher). This distinction where people get the egg debate wrong and there is decades of research that is consistent with this. Metabolic disease like diabetes is also closely linked to obesity since adipose tissue modulates insulin production and usage. It is the most sensitive tissue to insulin and the larger your adipose gets, the worse your metabolic profile becomes. This problem becomes exponentially worse as adipose begins to wreck your hormonal profile with excess estrogen and decreased testosterone. People are debating these minor differences like diets, sugar, etc., when the biggest solution and lowest hanging fruit is and always has been to be at a healthy weight, strength training to increase muscle mass, and some amount of aerobic exercise. You can mess with milligrams of fats or sugars but it is almost pointless.

  • @drip369

    @drip369

    Ай бұрын

    @@ExternusArmy Well metabolic diseases are certainly driven by the kinds of food you consume as well as your bodies ability to process it or not process it comma but If your mother didn't affect your gut microbiome and then negative way and they didn't choose unwisely throughout your infancy until Teenage years, then anything you end up led to in the future would be from your own bad choices. In many ways they are certainly related, they influence each other but if you did have a bad start then you would certainly need to correct that metabolic disease because it's going to affect your caloric output because if you aren't building muscles that will eat up every nutrient you consume and burn off anything stored, then that's a great place to start to fix your metabolism and your gut

    As someone who has worked with medical professionals, I can say from experience that not every certified nurse knows about proper nutrition. You get dudes like Edi Abu who can spew a bunch of broscience and come across as knowledgeable because he has muscles. I buy health and nutrition books like The Abs Diet and various publications from The Mayo Clinic and other well-reputed sources, and I managed to build a balanced diet for myself, rich in lean proteins (chicken, fish, eggs) and leafy greens, and I restrict any fast food that I order, limiting it to trusted Latin restaurants that offer long grain and brown rice as well as quinoa. I also allow myself a minor cheat dessert once or twice a week. I mostly drink water and tea, with occasional decaf mushroom coffee. I’ve lost 17 lbs in 2 months, and I feel great. Proper nutrition education, not broscience from KZread reels or TikTok vids, makes a big difference.

Ultimately, calories in, calories out. People who suffer from mild insulin insensitivity are in fact better off losing weight normally as that fixes the issue. You know , Eddie's message has always been to eat real food. Cut out processed food and sugar. I have watched him for about two years now and I'll agree that the content he is making now is a bit ridiculous. But how many times can you say eat proper food. And the do your own research is probably the best thing someone can tell you when it comes to food. I did a blood test, showed a dietician and changed my diet accordingly and I feel so much better. That was me doing my own research. As far as fruit is concerned , he can't have certain fruits because of his own medical condition. He always talks about what works for him. The world should be praising Eddie for his simple message. It has helped me and I'm sure other people as well.

    Another reason why losing weight quickly leads to gaining weight faster overtime is because the body can only take a limited amount of energy from fat per week. If your caloric deficit is too great it will also burn muscle mass. Long term this loss of muscle mass will reduce your daily maintenance need of calories and you will accrue more excess calories with the same diet. I really like the advice you give on this video, and the whole review is a good way to get people to think and try and "make their own effing research" lol

I am 33, 6'1" and around 190lbs. I havent felt this good since I was a teenager. I'm not saying its for everyone, but it works for me. I wanted to lose weight about 2 years ago coz I basically lt myself go suring the pandemic. I bumped into Dr. Berg's vid and was introduced to keto. I followed his stuff and I actually lost 17kg in about 3-4 months. That convinced me keto was the only truth. But the it turned out that the reason I lose that weight was because I tracked my cals and was on a constant cal deficit. Now I am back to my balanced diet, watching my cals and I've had no problems since the switch from keto. I think the reasons why these diets are so popular is that there is a degree of truth on the surface, like eating whole foods, staying away from calorie-dense and ultra processed food etc. Since these general theories work, it leads people to then believe in those non-accurate claims too. Just like how I thought keto was the one and only.

    Dawg, everything is processed. That does not mean it is inherently bad. The meat you buy is processed, the fruit's and veggies have to go through a process to ensure good quality and is 'safe to eat'. People like to throw around the word "process" because it makes them sound educated. Most of the people on social media are trying to sell you something; 99% of it you will not need.

    @@Ruben9 Fruit and vegetables have pesticides and fertilisers put on them. Are blanched, washed, often covered with a preservative coating (e.g. apples have a thin layer of wax). The act of processing is doing anything to get it to its edible form. Processed food is bad because of its high calorie and low micronutrient content. We have people eating 4000 calories a day and Eddie is telling them to worry about some preservatives. No, it's the extreme excess calories, lack of exercise and sleep that's killing people. Not some fucking aspartame in your coke. Eddie waffles 24/7 about how processed food ruins your gut health. His gut health was ruined from using a ton of oral steroids with ruin your gut, not from having rice crispies.

    I used to think sugar was bad until I realised that all carbohydrates are broken down into glucose by the body (hence "blood sugar"). There is literally nothing wrong with sugar itself. There is only the differences in the packaging that the sugar comes in - e.g. more or less micronutrients, fibre, etc etc - and the amount you consume. This alone (+ maybe whether or not you're diabetic) is what determines whether sugar is healthy or not for you at any given time. Carbohydrates (sugars) are also insanely anabolic.
