The New Into The Radius Update is a Trap
Ойындар
Into the Radius has been one of the best VR games for a while but this new update makes it... better? It's scarier. Of all the VR games out there, Into the Radius is one of the VR games I come back to playing regularly. So I was not expecting to randomly hear all these anomalies talking to me in the radius now. The sounds you hear while trapped in VR now are very spooky but also atmospheric. I can't wait to see everyone telling me how not scary it is but I was shooken. Live in front of my audience. And I hope it was somewhat entertaining.

Just hit security level 4 yesterday, was out for a nice relaxing stroll through the village (well, maybe not that relaxing, the tide had come through so I was on cleanup duty)... When all of a sudden I get jumped by a spawn and not one, but two sliders (my first encounter with them). And to top it all off I hadn't reloaded since my last fight. Learn from my mistakes.

I'm just going to say it, it's a crime how much people ignore Into the Radius when they talk about the best VR games out right now. The interactions and interface systems, inventory, etc. are all really well thought out and very much built around VR, but I feel like it rarely gets any credit. It's always "Alyx" this and "Boneworks" that, and those games are great, but Into the Radius always being left out of that general "best VR games" discussion seems sad. Like, it's hard to even find people doing long plays of this game on KZread. Most VR KZreadrs pick up the game for like an hour, get scared by it for entertainment purposes, post one video and then forget about it. At least, that's how it feels. Sorry if I'm being a bit strong here, just feel like it needs to be said.

I agree that too many people recommend Boneworks, but the real sleeper hit is SkyrimVR. ITR has come a long way but it’s still very janky, the story is pretty poor if not nonexistent to the point where the discord community are the ones recording the audio logs, and it runs like a one legged man without a wheelchair. The fun comes from making your own challenges and interacting with all the stuff. Climbing, cleaning weapons, and visually obstructive armor are all really really cool concepts on paper but after 5-10 hours just becomes a pain in the ass. Especially when any jankness can result in your death or damage that felt “unfair” to take

From what i know, light attracts the enemies. So if you're going with the headlamp and jacket light on, you'll attract more enemies towards you. So you'll have to constantly think of when is it worth it to shine light to see better and when it's better to just stay in the dark to avoid being detected. I like the fact that enemies react to you so well, like when habie went in the gas anomaly, and his character coughed and because of the sound, the spawn was alerted.

I just started playing Into the Radius literally last night. Yeah it was pretty unsettling. But I never experienced it before this update to compare (except for one or two of your streams but watching in pancake mode isn't even close to the same). Unfortunately I don't think I can continue right now, the performance just isn't there on my old 1070 video card. Over 50% reprojection, even after turning down settings. And I don't want to do that. I also really don't want to buy current gen replacement at STILL above MSRP with next gen right around the corner. Also if anyone knows how to get the game arms to line up better with your real arms, let me know because I for the life of me can't grab whatever is on my arm slots. My controller impacts my real arm a good 6 inches above where the game puts the arm slot. Have similar trouble with two-handing the pistols. Handling doesn't work nearly as smoothly as Pavlov or Onward, I feel like I'm drunk.
@rdesemple0325

You can set your height and arm length for your character in the settings. As long as you set it to your own size, the arm should line up 95% of the time.

I wish I had something other to say than I haven't had any of these problems, but unfortunately, I haven't. I've been playing on a 1060, and my game runs perfectly smoothly. My only real suggestion is turn down the graphics even more, as you shouldn't be having those problems. As for arm length, make sure you set your in-game height to the right amount, and turn on visible arms if you don't already. They'll never line up perfectly, but it shouldn't be that bad.

I didn't see the "visible arms" setting, I'll look for that. That will help a little. I did set my height properly, but I have absolutely no idea what my arm length is or what the measurement standard for that is (where do you start and stop the measurement), so I just left that default or clicked it up one or two notches from default since I'm quite tall. You'd think it could just measure how far your controllers are from your head. I guess I can just mess around with the setting and see if anything improves the arm slots thing. Performance wise: yeah I could turn down settings to make it acceptable, but I really, REALLY want the full impact playing this game. I'm willing to wait to get it I think. I've got other stuff in the meantime. Thanks all for the input.
