@@jayizanu5990 When has that ever stopped people from buying rackets? I've seen so many RF97A in the hands of sub 3.5 players who have no business swinging that monstrosity. That thing sold like hotcakes even though only the top 5% of the players can use it well. Does Head not want free money?

Ok, I asked Brian Ruditis of HEAD USA: "I'm seeing online comparisons of the Speed Legend racquet to the regular Speed with the same specs. People claim the difference in cosmetic have ruined the play characteristics of the Legend. They say the original plays better. Can a cosmetic change affect play characteristics? " His reply: "No, they can not."

I thought you said the number 1 selling racquet of all time was the Head Ti series?

Going to start off by saying I’m about a 4.0/4.5 level player. Whoever thinks these guys are speaking nonsense; you’re wrong. Because I went through this exact experience! Current owner of a 2024 Speed MP, and I LOVE IT. When I saw things online about the Black Glossy Legend version I knew I HAD to have it. Boy was I wrong. I lost all my power, plow, and depth with the Legend. I was even framing the ball out the fence, and I have never done that with any racket, ever. Gave it a week of play before I sent it back to Tennis Warehouse…

So you are saying, the black paint job makes you hit balls with the frame, that you wouldn’t have with the white? 😂

were the specs of both racquet the same? weight, balance point, etc..???

Are the strings the same and tensions?

I read somewhere that the finish of black/white one gets dirty on clay pitches and this is quite hard to get off. Can anyone confirm this?

So, whats does the glossy frame do? Vs the matte finish. How does it "theoretically" affect play?

This isn't the first time I'm hearing this. I wonder if they took the unpainted back stock of the last generation and painted it black.

How about weight both to show if any spec differences?

@@Fwsmit on paper yes, but there are manufacturing tolerance. Two of the same model can have quite different actual specs.

Racquet cosmetic shouldn't affect play. If the same prepreg layup and same molds are used, how could cosmetic change the racquet? We all know the pro stock racquets on the Tour often change cosmetic. The pros would not accept changes in play characteristics when the cosmetic is changed.

The regular speed 2024 has a special coating that affects the feel on impact. You can go on their website, because it does seem pretty far fetched, but it’s a real thing.
