@@Wrecked3 the max laser can disintegrate projectiles so it also avoids damage. And with how fast the laser is with its long range, it’s easier to destroy way more projectiles at a time

3 tall/wide mining is for sure a really good strategy. I would like to add to it, that by digging a single "hole" into the bulk of it, every 4th unit, you will get to see almost all of the center. (This was perhaps horrible way of explaining, but I hope it worked)

Lol, not even a minute after I wrote that, you started hitting every 3rd block. Showing you clearly knew that tactic.

Felt like they didn't need to buff the laser. It's 10 times easier to use than the sword, so having the sword dome be strong makes sense.

It was boring to play with it and you still got something weaker than the sword. A buff/improvement is great. Though, I absolutely agree that it's digustingly powerful right now. I was expecting adding some skill to the laser path, not simply allowing you to pick both major upgrades. At the moment the laser is broken. Wither + laser and you are like: "Why is there a bunch of sheeps attacking my doomsday hell dome?"

YAFI on huge (without modifiers) was absolutely impossible with laser+shield/orchard. Only Repellent cheese could get you the win. A much needed fix, although it might be too strong now

I don't think iron's ever not 2 tall immediatley finds 1 tall iron lode in the exact middle of a 3 tall block

i once found iron that was like 6 blocks wide but only 1 block tall fairly deep down. i don''t think there is any rule preventing 1 block tall iron veins. it is just very unlikely once the veins reach more than 4 blocks in size. But even a 1 block tall vein is not likely to appear in the center of an unmined area. Better to play the odds i think and clear the map faster.

2:15 "I don't think iron's ever NOT 2 [tiles] high". IMMEDIATELY runs into iron vein that's two tiles WIDE, but only one HIGH.

Your long videos have become my Zen every night. Can't wait for another 3 hour plus one to drop.

Yep the first few rounds you should go for 2 layers, but more deeper you can skip 3 layers

Hey Skoottie, two things: 1/ You are so good and logical (analytical almost) at this game that I'm pretty sure the devs must be watching your videos. I mean, I have never played the game, but the way you methodically carve your way into the depths is as satisfying as max efficient. Gotta love it. And you seem to always push the game to its limits: as a dev I'd love to watch this kind of content, especially when a new update has just been pushed. 2/ These days I feel pretty low/sad and watching you playing this game, with your ultra chill commentary, your nice sooth voice and clever diction, has brought me a certain temporary inner peace. Somehow these videos have helped calm me down and ease my busy mind, so thanks. Cheers from France, take good care mate

It was two tiles tall, he never completed the first line to the left. If he had gone all the way left on the row he started, he would have seen the top piece.

I fully expect the double laser to re-introduce the slight decrease in power. Like you get a 2nd laser but both work at 75% power. That's how it was before. Giving you two tier 3 lasers is just a LITTLE too broken. It needs to be available, or a different 'power' buff available to the double laser if you pick it. Like, you can pick laser power 3 and get a single turbo mega laser, or you can pick double laser and buff up the damage, but not to the point it's the same. I'd like to see laser 3 get a unique locked upgrade that causes the laser to split and hit random enemies for partial(50-70%) damage.

I think just adding a couple more nodes to the elevator, even without more speed or any other upgrade on it, it would keep up the whole time. Yeah it's slow, but it's consistent, so every extra node is the same boost too efficiency, I bet you could even work out an optimal layers down per extra node, but I think if you just take the hit on like 3 right away, it'll pay for itself in having your iron at your base rather than floating in the elevator shaft

The enemies just melted away. Incredible run!

You can just drop the bomb from the top before teleporting, but you need either impact detonation or sticky charges if you want it to reach the bottom.

Imagine a world where Skootie mines a load of iron and then actually brings it back to buy upgrades. I'm pretty sure you like just bait yourself with a lift every time, the no gadget run where you found the power of carry weight you were plowing through upgrades like a freight train from just actually scoring the iron lol

Laser dome is better for shorter runs bc you only need to upgrade one line while sword dome is better for long runs (quite possibly longer than currently available since laser is alr good) sword dome is super strong if you have both maxed long stab/fast stab and maxed heavy blade/long blade but that costs more.

Holy heck they aren't exculsive anymore? thats a bit op if you ask me, especially if you have the "fast but weak enemies" setting on

If they were gonna do this, I felt like they should've added the second laser upgrade at least AFTER max upgrade for laser damage. Lol

I honestly thought laser was pretty good already. max laser can melt enemies but only deal with one side while double laser allows you to take care of both sides but at slower pace. Now its just haha death laser go brrrrr x2

The laser buff is powerful, but double laser already cleared the last wave on brutal with minimal dome damage before the patch. You don't need the more powerful beam unless you bump up the difficulty.

So next to fix this, fast stab and long stab need to be non exclusive, and then to fix the inevitable balance problems, they need to add new tougher late game enemies.

Has he done a max shield run? Maybe with the new lazer you can same cobalt by not taking any damage?

Laser was always better then sword dome as it was much more consistent. Sword can be better if you get enough iron to upgrade it fast enough while maintaining most of the usual initial early upgrades. But at least with my rng, that rarely happens.

Some of his strategy in this vid had me WTF'ing all over the video but i was edge of my seat whole time. And holy shit if the developers don't neuter that double laser...

I have a dome keeper challenge for you. Its a very simple challenge, but simplicity does not mean ease. You just have to add all of the custom rules: Longer days, double iron, fast but weak enemies, and starting cobalt. Love your vids man 🤌

I still cant wait for fully mined out large map + max upgrades + double max laser

I feel you overweight teleporter on Relic mode. It's unnecessary even on You Asked For It and Huge, and something like Condenser permanently overcharging your repellent basically doubles your mining time each round (70% extra round time, but you only need to descend and ascend once if you have elevator).

Lift is better if you're willing to invest a little in it the deeper you go. The orb speed upgrade is essential, then add orbs as you get deeper. TP doesn't move resources as quickly as Lift does, but if you haven't upgraded your Lift enough, TP can outperform it deeper down. Basically: TP requires an investment in order to move resources, and then an additional investment to make it deliver resources quickly. It has a static throughput. Lift has variable throughput, mostly limited by depth, but combated by orb speed, orb count, and sometimes orb carry capacity. Generally I prefer Lift because it doesn't take a gadget slot. Lift is also better on smaller maps than larger ones, but even on larger maps it perform well with a little investment. Fortunately additional orbs are very cheap.

The amount of material lost from 3 wide just isn't that much. You'll still get 95% of the iron, but you get to deeper depths 50% faster, which is certainly worth the cost of a couple cobalt or water.
