One of the Sim Gurus just confirmed on Twitter that ladders will be added in the base game patch before the pack releases! SimGuruGeorge also said that we can use them indoors or outdoors, and I imagine they work just like stairs. Usually EP's have a pretty big patch beforehand, so I'm excited to see what else comes in it. But most importantly: LADDERS.

What all of the KZreadrs aren’t getting is the price difference between stuff packs, game packs and expansion packs. This could have been a game pack and $20 cheaper. That’s why people are upset. They get all of the packs for free so to them it doesn’t matter whether this is an expansion pack or not. It also feels like all of the game changers have been instructed to put everyone back in line for complaining. I just want an honest reaction and I haven’t seen a genuine one. All they’ve done is praise this pack and tell their audience “This isn’t recycled content!” yet point out all of the similarities between Eco Lifestyle and most of the previous packs. I love most of the game changers, but this is just frustrating.

Shawna Christine I didn’t tear apart the pack in my comment, and I’m not asking them to do that. I just want someone to point out the obvious flaws about this pack and it’s similarities to other packs, rather than get mad at us for being critical of a pack that seems recycled. It seemed to me that yesterday when the game changers released their videos all they did was shout their praise for a pack. Which I understand that if they really like it, but already today, Plumbella has posted a video with her criticisms about the pack. No where did I say that they should berate the pack and tear it apart, I just wanted a tiny bit of honesty instead of pretending like this pack is perfect and just what we asked for. You can say that we voted for it in 2017, but that was for a stuff pack and since then EA has released several packs that have included eco living. I understand your frustrations as well, and I know that some people may really enjoy this pack. My comment was more meant to express my frustration about how the reviews are hard to take seriously when they will get these packs for free and don’t have to worry about the price and how much NEW content you get for the amount you’re paying.

You dont have to pay for the expansion packs which I'm not hating on at all. But those complaining are expected to pay 40 pounds for recycled content that is truly going to add no real substance to the game. Of course we might get more details which are out of this world but right now I actually want to cave my head against the wall at the stupidity.

The “bees” swarming around that guy is probably a new Sims death that they’re bringing back from the Sims 2 which is death by flies. I forget Kayla and a lot of the community started off on 3 and 4 - back in the Sims 2 if your home got too dirty and trash and plates piled up everywhere, there was a chance that if your Sim stepped over them, they’d be consumed by flies. So I’m guessing they’re bringing that back again!

I loved that death. It would be great if they brought it back.

I really dislike when people say "if you don't like it don't buy it" because there's only so many packs left before they abandon Sims 4 and only make new content for Sims 5. I wouldn't be mad if this was a game pack, the idea is neat, but I'm upset that one of the few EPs we have left wasn't used for something that impacts the game as a whole. This content will only be able to be used in that one world. There's nothing to do in other neighborhoods aside from a few new crafting things. We need expansions to be content that effects the entire game, like Seasons and Generations, or stuff that can be used in any world, like farming. I like that we have more stuff for the "rags" side of rags to riches, and this world when dirty will go really well with crime and zombie mods, but I'm upset that it took the slot of an expansion that could have made a better contribution to the game. Content that can only be used inside one world, like Strangerville and occults, need to be game packs. With Sims 5 in production now, we're allowed to express disappointment in the last few packs we get in Sims 4. Don't shut down honest feedback.

Of course the pack is out now and I’ve bought and reviewed it myself, and all I can say is EA is getting better, GTW doesn’t impact ’normal’, Outdoor retreat doesn’t Get to work Get Together City Living Seasons Cats and Dogs Get Famous Island Living Discover University Eco Lifestyle The gameplay just gets more versatile, Over all I do agree with you we need more packs that resemble a day to day routine not packs like ROM and Vampires and Strangerville

Seriously though, they could have updated City Living with that concept and fixed Sulani's with cleaning concept. I wish this pack would have been better if it impacted ALL worlds, then I would worry for all my worlds. Sulani's cleaning system was BAD, you had to forcibly control your sim to clean up everything, other Sims did nothing and thrived in the clean environment that you cleaned alone.

Magali Mizuki - I hope that there’s something in the settings. Like a list of all the worlds you have and you can toggle whether the pack is off or whether the world is grungy or clean. I feel like that’d keep the playability without the pain for builders (and gameplay players who keep creating new worlds) having to clean it every time they start a new save and want to build something not disgusting.

I'm so disappointed. I thought out of all the main game changers you would be the one to call out the reused materials and concepts. This should be an expansion pack. What happened to you going off because you recognized we were spending so much money to get more of the same? Not to mention- when eco living was voted on we didnt have island living. We didnt have so much of what eco living is "trying brand new" to the game??

@@dustin628 from what I saw, she was talking about people who were hating on a pack that isn't even released yet. Which I agree with her on. You can't pass judgment on something that isn't yet out. All I see are people being ridiculously hostile about this pack. And yes I have proof to back this up. Head over to the official trailer on KZread. Then click on the first comment posted under it, which was by the sims team, and read all the comments people wrote to them. Seeing the way people are acting is awful, like crazed children throwing a fit. It's fine to give your opinion on things, but calling something straight trash or shit or garbage when it isn't even out yet is ludicrous. And even calling the other packs in such ways doesn't help the matter either. Constructive criticism is the best way to get your point across with detailed reasons behind why you disliked it. Not just doing a shit emoji or calling it simply trash, that doesn't help them learn why you don't like it.

After seeing the way people were attacking Kayla on Twitter for saying she was excited for the pack makes me sad. People accusing her of lying because she’s getting paid by EA is dumb. She talked about how much she disliked multiple packs before they came out, if she was getting paid to say she loves packs she wouldn’t be talking so much crap about Strangerville and Mosquito stuff

I remember spams of comments in the past asking for an eco living, not even related to the voting. It was as annoying as asking for cars. People DID ask for this, and acting like people didn't is wrong.

The thing about those surveys is that they give us a limited number of options to chose from so just because eco living was voted second most popular doesn’t mean people actually wanted it more than other things not listed in the survey. From what I can remember I wasn’t excited about anything in that survey I just voted for the best out of a bad bunch. Not really reflective of what people actually want from packs.

I understand where you’re coming from but they can’t exactly have an “other” option where you just type stuff in because imagine the sheer amount of different things people would say. It would take hours to read through them all and I think people would be even angrier if they didn’t get what they wanted. Also, they can’t think of every possible idea and list them all as options because it will be very overwhelming for people taking the survey, and they won’t get anywhere near as many results. Jus my opinion on the topic, but I get what you’re saying and I agree with you too :)

Yes, EXACTLY. I voted in all the surveys for Nifty Knitting. That doesn't mean what I voted for was something I would have chosen myself! They are NOT. I voted simply because it was all they offered. The one thing I wanted was the rocking chair. Now that I've found out they'll include a METAL RADIO STATION with it, I'm totally gonna buy it. But what I REALLY want is BANDS. Gigs. Drums. All the CAS/build/buy mode stuff to make a rock band's stage or recording studio look cool. Horses, stables, a world with large lots and trails to ride on. Fairies & werewolves. And SPIRAL FREAKIN' STAIRS. ffs

The thing is, for people who are so actively invested in the Sims 4 and the community, and vote on all the polls hoping for cool features, it kinda feels like a slap in the face when people say “if you don’t like it just don’t buy it!” That would be nice, but we don’t really get that many packs, and it’s only a matter of time before they stop making packs and move onto Sims 5. It’s like, yeah, we asked for an eco-themed *stuff pack*, but that was before we got so many eco features in Laundry Day, Island Living, Tiny Living, etc. And again, we were voting for a stuff pack. This is an expansion pack. People say there’s not enough content because it seems like it could be compared to Jungle Adventure or Strangerville, adding a fun adventure that can be played for a bit but doesn’t overall impact the whole game. Expansions are meant to expand your experience, and so far I’m just seeing a bunch of recycled content and new objects instead of game-changing mechanics.

There’s really not enough packs for you? There’s 20 something packs released and if you actually paid attention, this expansion literally changes your town based on how you play in it. And at the end of the day all of you are forgetting they need to make their money somehow to continue doing what their doing for the sims. And this pack is nothing like laundry or nothing like island living and it’s annoying to watch everyone compare the packs as if any of them are similar because they all have their differences and it is just a damn game at the end of the day. You can only do much for a game.

dude, Nobody said the town is not beautiful, but honestly, I’m sick of pretty things I never use?! I don’t need more stuff, I need more gameplay. This is maybe good for you if you’re a builder, but some of us aren’t. I and a lot of other people don’t care about the new, pretty *stuff* we want some new, quality gameplay. Everyone in these reaction videos are only excited about the stuff (ladders, solar panels, candles etc) and that itself tells a story. Who is excited about this new freelancer maker career? Maybe you’re gonna play it once or twice and it’s over. And redoing this community cleaning (if you want your town clean and pretty) in every save? Girl, give us a break. This is a Strangerville deja vu. And let’s just talk about boring personalities that sims are having. Only three characteristics and a quest-like aspiration. And even with that I wouldn’t complain if the personalities had a slightest bit of depth. But no. I can turn a non-flirty evil sim who hates children into a father of 5 with a wife he never had an argument with or never even cheated on her in just a few clicks. And traits you get by completing an aspiration are even more useless. That is a fix we need, not recycling. It’s a good idea, but there should be some priorities. I would be excited about this if we already had more in-depth characters, generations-like pack and npc story progression 🤷🏽

I have seen a ton of people who have to pay their own money who are super excited for this. I'm one of them. Already pre ordered it. If you guys don't want it, don't buy it. Shawna Christine Who is being a brat? All I’m doing is criticizing the moves that EA and some of these (sims youtubers) influencers are making, nothing is personal. I personally have paid almost $400 on this game which is absolutely ridiculous and a scam. Nothing that I said was incorrect. Your allowed to like this pack I’m not personally going to purchase it but go ahead. A lot of people are boycotting this pack because they’re tired of having to pay so much money for barely any content. This pack was voted for being a new STUFF pack not an expansion (which is why people are mad). Anyone that pays their hard earned money for this game should be allowed to criticize it. Talking about one pack is nothing since they continue to promote their stuff anyway and turn a blind eye. The people that say “don’t like don’t buy it” are missing the point, the reason why we continue to get horrible lack luster packs is because people buy them are desperately in search of new content. If you choose to ignore what EA is doing and be complicit that’s on you mam. Being rude is so unnecessary imo

no hate. but for some of the people who are saying “it’s just a trailer not full gameplay” would you watch a movie if you didn’t like the trailer ? personally i have no emotion for the pack so I won’t buy it. but for both sides don’t disregard the way someone feels about it. People will like it and others won’t but do not ignore their opinion by saying “don’t like it, don’t buy it” or “we didn’t ask for this”

I usually buy stuff way late when its 50% off. So I'm in no rush to get this.

I completely understand that reasoning. I am personally excited about the pack, but I do also want to tune out from the world's problems. In island living, the nature conservation stuff is cute - creating awareness, cleaning the beach... feels good. In eco lifestyle, however, I might not like garbage and dirt, either. OR maybe I'll love that I have a genuine chance at making it better (unlike in the real world). We'll see! :)

I think it's unfair to say "oh the community is complaining because they made an eco pack when this what we literally voted for a few years back" Most important from that is that we were asked to vote on a STUFF PACK, not an expansion. If the vote had included a question, do you think Eco living could/should be an expansion, then likely the overwhelming response would have been no. I'd have been down for this theme to be a Game Pack, but there's just not enough content (even after viewing the trailer) for it to be an Expansion. I feel bad for the developers cause it's not their fault that someone fake leaked the Country Living pack just before their real announcement. But it just illustrates the chasm that exists between them and the community. This should really just show them that they're way off base with what we, the ones that pay for their game, want.

It’s always difficult seeing advocates for the sims community defending the money-hungry management of EA. It’s not fair that the company can just expect to recycle old animations, concepts etc. from other packs and resell them to audiences under a different title, for £30+.

I like watching these KZreadrs discuss the Sims 4 games but I never take their word on how good the games could be because alot of them, get the game for free, knows people who work on the Sims 4 team and attend different events. I'm not saying she is getting paid but it comes off like she is marking the game.

Courtney Carter I agree with you. Honestly, until recently any negativity I heard surrounding the sims was something I didn’t want to dive into, because I had invested so much of my time into it and sincerely love the franchise. But a recent rude experience with EA Help service sort of forced me to confront it. I like Kayla and her content a lot, and I like her wouldn’t want to think about the games in a negative way. I think EA are just going downhill and it’s hard to watch sometimes...

@@princessofjedi That's kind of the problem with Sulani. It's just a pretty place to be in but there's nothing to do. Sure, you can aimlessly swim or sail but there's no real point to it.

The primary problem with the Sims 4 expansions is the preference of area over volume. Adding dispensable and superfluous content with set story arch "endings " doesn't erase the fact that mundane gameplay is invariably uninspired and dull.

i agree. The storylines revolve around basic actions that characters have to complete on top of their everyday needs. It just adds stress for me. Like when sims get distracted while doing story driven tasks or have needs. This is also the type of story that you could really only enjoy once and never really touch again.

Still patiently waiting on them to make a generations style expansion which was hands down the best pack in the franchise and parenthood ain’t cuttin it.

Imo we will be getting a teens pack eventually. I'd rather them take the time to make packs focused on each life state. Otherwise we would probably just get some half assed game pack that's trying to cram stuff in for every life state at once and that won't work.

Yeah, there were theories about it so I sadly got my hope up for that. And I remember hearing from somewhere that EA was like oh thsi is a totally new project, we've never done this before!1! And ig the pollution thing is new but as people are saying, we've already got a lot of this in island living and tiny living and all that. So it's just very annoying that they didn't take those aspects into one instead of milking for money by doing multiple and trying to say this is new. I kinda get Simsie cuz I also think the building stuff and laddrrs seems cool and the gardening, but it's still so fucking dissapointing

corporations that plant 1 tree for every X typically end up doing more harm than good, because they buy out property, clear out the native plant life there (native plants being good because of their deep roots and synergy with the rest of the ecosystem) and plant non-native trees super tightly packed in a way that forces the trees to grow in such a way that mitigates any good the trees can do- a much better place for ea to put its money would be to organizations that preserve forests and native/aboriginal lands (which are well-cared for by the native residents)- either that, or they can donate to community gardens or cleanup initiatives, a goal that imo is very in-line with the theme of this pack sometimes the most eco-friendly and most impactful answer doesn’t look as pretty on paper, but there’s a lot more to supporting the ecosystem than just planting trees 💕

Kayla, your argument about “people wanting eco living” is kinda flawed. I would’ve be SO HAPPY if we got eco living before. An eco living pack with off the grid items, tiny homes, a conservationist career/goal, and updated gardening system would’ve made for an *AMAZING* pack!! The problem is, all the content has been spread out over multiple packs (pretty poorly tbh). So now, everything left for an eco living type pack has been pretty much done; all of this content is recycled.... You can’t justify paying $40 for content people have already paid for and should’ve been included in other packs already!!

But WHY would it have been included in other packs? The other packs had what they had, you can't say they should have had more, the sims team put in what they put in, it's not an unlimited thing! They can't just keep stuffing in items and gameplay, they have a limit on how much the packs can hold! This has a similar style but that doesn't mean for one second it 'should have been with' island living or whatever, this pack isliterally COMPLETELY different to island living other than the world can be improved over time? I'd be happy for ALL worlds to be fluid like that and be able to change them!

Samantha Kate i see what you’re saying, but there’s this thing called quality over quantity. yes, they need to make money, but they also need to be making things WORTH the money. i don’t want to spend $100+ for features that very easily could have been consolidated into one pack. the sims community has been very disappointed with what they’ve been putting out, and that it just doesn’t seem like they’re really trying to make fun packs anymore. what sophia g said about having a bunch of cool things spread out over multiple packs is absolutely correct. tiny homes, conservationist, and solar panels all in one? that would’ve been incredible. instead, to have all of those, you have to spend half a paycheck to get them. it’s become such a money grab and people are constantly disappointed.

Shouldn't a expansion pack add some kind of game changing or enhancing element in it? This just looks like a bunch of gimecy junk

F C I won’t. But the Sims 4 is the main game I play and it’s starting to get really boring. If they really wanted their large group of supporters to stay, they would make things that actually make the gameplay better. People spend a lot of money on this game, so EA deserves to at least give us a good pack.

Agree! Strangerville sucked. It was a thing you could play once, it had zero replay value. The world was cool, and I like the desert/military vibe but that was it. This is literally going to be strangerville all over again.

The only reason people voted eco livibg was because of laundry, which was clear from the very beginning. Now that we have laundry, plus a few other packs that includes eco living features (island living, tiny living), we certainly would not vote eco living again

I never, seriously never send negative comments on this platform but this video was so dismissive and patronising it’s shocking. It does not help EA or the community in any way to have game changers who belittle the concerns of loyal consumers.

I really like your videos Kayla and I understand that you want to remain positive but it just makes me kinda sad when the community (specially us that have to actually buy the packs) has valid criticisms about The Sims 4 content and you a lot of times write them off saying we should be grateful and excusing all of EA's horrible practices. We shouldn't be grateful, they are a company profiting off our money, we should have the right to complain about The Sims 4 (objectively the weakest one in the whole series) without being regarded as rude or toxic. We get that this is how you make your money, but they also won't change until the influencers start being more real and vocal, the games will decrease in quality as much as EA can possibly do it until we start talking with our wallets. It would be nice If you could try to see it from our point of view as well.

Exactly, it's such a gross misrepresentation of the arguments people have against Eco-Living. We voted for it YEARS AGO. And we got content for it already. Not trying to be mean to Kayla but, really, it's just dishonest and I'm not sure if I can stay subscribed to this channel. Just writing the criticisms off to her audience is lowkey manipulative, because people who haven't heard of the arguments will see it and think that the criticisms aren't valid.

The things is, they are already reusing so many things from other packs or using things that should have been in other packs. Also, it's just something you play with once and then the "story" is over and you're left with build buy stuff, cas stuff and some new gameplay that is not gonna be useful in any other town than the one which is gonna come with eco lifestyle. This is really not something EA can justify for this price.

I understand we voted for eco living but we knew we were getting a stuff pack but that vote was about 3 years ago, before island living if we took that same vote now the results would have been different. For months we’ve been asking for horses and generations and better babies i haven’t seen anyone asking for an eco pack and this whole carbon footprint thing is dumb because we don’t have cars.

It takes a while to make a new expansion pack so we don’t know how long they have been planning this pack. It could have started back when people seemed more interested in eco living stuff. Keep in mind tiny living was a pretty old trend and that pack just came out.

I like the idea, but here’s the thing: we voted for an eco living stuff pack, not an expansion. This looks too empty, and it probably should’ve been a game pack. Who knows, though? I hope I’ll be pleasantly surprised when we get more information.

We don't even have a full list of features and obviously, we've probably missed a lot of stuff in the trailer that is hard to see. It's too soon to judge it yet. I'm personally really excited about it as someone whose whole life revolves around eco-living including building my own tiny house on wheels haha

The thing is though, this game is becoming more and more like those lame mobile game ads you get, where the ad is nothing like the actual game - upcycle sounds really cool but then we end up getting two pieces of furniture that looks ratty and we click «upcycle» and poff it’s beautiful... nothing you do really matters in the game or actually affects anything. Looking forward to seeing you play it though! 😍

We voted for it 3 years ago and they gave us eco living elements over those 3 years in other packs so I think that’s why people are bummed. We don’t want it as a pack anymore because between laundry day and island living and we a lot of those elements already. So it’s just not AS exciting as it would have been if it wasn’t following island living

when you have just been watching reactions to this pack for the last half hour this is definitely the one i’ve been waiting for

the reason i don’t this channel as much anymore if i feel like you always have EA back. not all of us have the money to drop every time new content comes out. this “expansion pack” doesn’t have enough content... to warrant its price tag THAT is why people are upset. the sims as a game is already ridiculous... a life simulator that you have to pay hundreds just to have basic things like seasons and laundry and pets. just disappointing. no hate towards you at all i just wish you saw most people’s side of it and stopped justifying ea ripping off its fans.

As a Geography and environmental science student, IM LOOSING MY MIND. Sustainable energy, vertical farming and living roofs. This will highlight so many sustainable living methods. This is my dream pack!!!!! I hope the way this pack works is scientifically accurate, otherwise I’m gonna be mad haha.

Lol am I the only one who’s tempted to leave it all dirty and pretend that it’s the not so nice area of San Myshuno? Especially since there are already some mods that add drugs and gangs. It would be great for storytelling.

Avry Towne girl I know you did NOT just use gangs to excite me into buying this pack 😂😂😭 gangs sound like a good idea for a story-based thing, I just feel as if it may get boring and repetitive (the club system) without potential mods (such as the violence one).

The problem with TS4 is that, after twenty years of expecting EPs to flesh out a theme, TS4 never quite manages to do it. Vampires and Spellcasters are the only themes that EA seemed to finish in one go. Everything else is spread out all over the map. For example, what did eco-living have to do with the tropical pack that some of us in the community have waited five years for? Nothing. The Gurus keep saying that they have content planned years in advance. So, why did EA shoehorn two separate themes into a single pack? The off-the-grid and conservationist stuff in IL could have been saved for the planned Eco Lifestyle pack. In their place, IL could have had more than one type of boat. IL could have had vehicles that could carry more than one rider,. There could have been water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving that wasn't a rabbit hole, or more fleshed out mermaids. Likewise, Eco Lifestyle could have had tiny home mechanics, more combination objects, small conjoined lots, and off-the-grid elements all in one pack, rather than three! There's no motive to break up single themes over several packs other than for increased monetary gain. EPs used to fill the niche for big themes. Now, they're a hodgepodge of ideas that don't really gel. And in the end, they cost the player more money by forcing us to pay for things that we don't want because they're crammed in with stuff that we do want. No wonder the community is rebelling.

Yeah, sometimes it feels like EA's milking people for their money a bit? Which is upsetting since it's so expensive to buy expansion packs and stuff. I don't hate this pack but I get a bit frustrated when It looks so similar to other packs. I think this also contributes to the feeling of a lack of depth in the game unfortunately. Bc EA seems to be spreading some content out to fill multiple packs.

it kinda annoys me that all the gamechangers are sorta "defending" this pack. Like I get what she is saying, but I just don't think anyone really wanted this (except the ladders)

i saw an article for this (it was advertising the "clean up the environment" part) and immediately thought, "we already have this in island living." why would i pay $40 for a feature i already paid $40 for?

I love Kayla and that she's being positive like all the other KZreadrs I've watched so far but my biggest problem with this pack is that it's an expansion. And before people come at me because of what Simsie said, my reasoning for this is The Sims is already super expensive. From everything I've seen on this pack so far it looks like IT COULD HAVE ALL FIT into a game pack. So RIGHT NOW it looks like I'm paying $40 for a game pack. And yes, there's a world but game packs also have worlds. I think the Eco Living is cool, just looks TO ME like it's too empty for an EXPANSION. And we are ALL allowed to disagree with the Game Changers/Simstubers so don't hate on anyone for their opinions. Same for those who don't like the pack, let some people be happy about it. And this could be me personally but I felt like some of the Game Changers were trying to be excited when they really weren't. Idk.

Evelyn Ramsey the sims free play on ios has cars and it’s not open world. basically they sit on the curb in the front of your house and i think you can tap them to travel? idk but you can shop for cars and it would be cool if they were placable in the lots and when you click on them it triggers the travel thing

I normally like your content but this video really rubbed me the wrong way. Using that annoying voice to represent people giving valid criticism is just not it and trivializing how we feel, you shouldn't just say "don't buy it" and dismiss any of our input, it's really aggravating.

I just don't get why sims need to be eco-friendly. They don't have cars, there's no big factories polluting the world, their garbage just disappears (I know this pack will be different with the trash), but to me it almost doesn't make sense how just garbage piling up leads to such a polluted world.

Tbh though even if you don't get it for free, you should give the pack a chance since there's been no reveal on what the actual CAS objects, furniture, and gameplay is actually like in play. idk I think people should just... wait and see if it's something they'll be into? There's no expectation that you need to buy it lol.

It's interesting to see how so far all of the sims youtubers that I've seen so far seem excited about this while the community is clearly not.

When you’re talking about how eco living won 2 years ago, it won as a STUFF pack. No one, especially now with all the eco stuff we already have, would vote for this as an expansion pack that we get once a year. Expansion packs are suppose to be filled with major new stuff, I can’t think of anything that could possibly be put into this that we don’t already kind of have from game packs and stuff packs. This was a horrible idea. Sorry, it was. It’s redundant. I don’t even care about farming, the price, ect. I’m upset that we get ONE expansion pack a year and THIS is what they came up with? Stuff we already pretty much have with a few added stuff (which could of easily been a game pack instead). Disappointing. I would of loved almost any other idea for an EXPANSION then eco living for the 100th time. I’m also sick and tired of these packs not having an longevity. Like strangerville, you play it once and you’re done. Granted, the build mode is nice but what would of been nicer is having content we pay for being able to be enjoyed more then ONCE. Reusability is important. I miss Will Wright and Maxis. EA is destroying this franchise.

Yeah, it would be cool for a stuff pack or maybe even a game pack. I wasn’t even excited about the farming. We literally have enough stuff in sims, and I have mods (that I download for free) that make up the stuff we don’t have. People are gonna buy this pack only for the stuff in it (solar panels, vertical gardens etc)..I don’t need pretty stuff, I want good gameplay that won’t get boring after three hovers of playing. Not all of us are builders, I personally don’t even build, I only download from the gallery.

I think that problem with this pack is that people think they would have to play it and transform this world to be nice (if they wanna play in a green version of the town), and it kinda reminds them of strangerville? Also, the people are mostly exited about building stuff, but doesn’t expansion pack have to have some kind of good gameplay going on? Nobody is excited about being a maker, at least I haven’t see it. So people are mostly gonna buy this ($40) for solar panels, wind turbines and aurora borealis appearing on sky when you clean all the junk. Also, will sims have mostly negative moodlets if we keep the junk and all the bad stuff? Like will the game push us to make this world better? Similar like we had weird stuff and people appearing in strangerville. I personally won’t buy it because the ladder I’ll get in basegame, and I have free mods for candles and vertical garden, cool wallpaper and everything. I’m kinda a lazy player so building stuff out of trash doesn’t really appeal to me haha, I would probably do it once or twice and be done with it. I also don’t think I want a farming pack either. I think I just need some good gameplay and an open world (I know it’s not gonna happen), for me, we have enough stuff already. I would like NPC story progression, I would like my sims having a reaction when they are cheated on (like in Sims2 for example), I would like having more interesting careers that I can go to (why can’t I do some cool missions when I’m a cop), I would like to have hobbies and more personalities (also personalities that affect gameplay?), crushes, etc... But that’s just my opinion, idk.

I bought the other packs praying it would make the game better but every one I got, I got more and more disappointed with the bs gameplay until I just gave up, I haven’t played the sims in months because every time I open it up I’m reminded how I lost hundreds of dollars and if I am able to get passed that I can only play for an hour max before I get too bored. My boyfriend showed me a bunch of new FUN & CHEAP games on steam that we can even play together. I’m over the sims until they can give us what we want. Hopefully paralives doesn’t take too long! 🥺

im not hating on you or anything bc good for you but you forget that we have to pay for this. so this simple pack which we've basically bought before is 40 dollars or pounds or whatever currency. it couldve been a game pack for 20 dollars less. so we are paying to get the same eco friendly content over and over again. of course we dont have to buy it but people like me who play literally hours on end want to have all the packs and want to get new things like generations. so pls remember when you're talking about how it different or its not recycled content or that we shouldn't say it should be a game pack bc WE have to pay for it.

The problem with pointing to the the vote as a justification for this is: We vote out of a finite amount of options. To me, this vote and the knitting vote, specifically, were based on voting for the least crappy option (imo). If EA wanted our real honest opinions and wants they'd let us come up with the options. The community has been vocal about what it wants for YEARS. I don't hate the concept, but this deep into the Sims 4 lifespan it seems like a way to artificially extend that lifespan with packs that are "filler". Imo, this should've been a stuff pack. The gameplay features don't particularly interest me. No matter what "stuff" they add to the game, it gets stale super quickly, because the sims themselves are boring to play. The basegame needs an overhaul and imo, it's time for the sims 5 (or paralives). And I believe this all points to the bigger overarching theme of EA creating packs that aren't super desirable, because it builds anticipation for each release to be something we actually want, and because they know people will buy the packs no matter what. So, when they then release something that was highly anticipated, we all spend more money. I think they might do a basegame update for babies/ story progression at some point, but in order to offset the cost, you get this, or My first pet stuff, or Tiny Living. TLDR: EA prioritises profits over customer satisfaction and voting is only as good as the options presented: South Park's Douche vs Turd Sandwich springs to mind.

Yeah I really feel like these packs COULD be really fun if sims didn't all feel like cardboard cutouts of people just mechanically doing things you tell them to. Sims right now are like babies and these packs are just handing them different toys they can play with for a second before they get bored of it v_v it's fun for awhile to see them do new things but it feels like it's the OBJECT that's interesting not the SIM, which makes for a boring game after awhile.

It is weird how this turned out to be on 9f the most liked expansions after all the initial community backlash before launch

When Realm of Magic came out, Kayla said something about people don't wanting shallow DLCs that was like "It's better to have lots of samll content more regularly than to wait a whole year for one big DLC". And I really love her videos, but I feel like she doesn't see much outside of her bubble. In some places an Expansion Pack costs 160 and a Stuff Pack 40 (whhile minimum wage is 995), so we want as much content as possible in one pack, and we have the right to feel bad when EA just delivers a bad rip-off version of the worst parts of Island Living and Get To Work for 160 bucks. Also, DLCs should be something we have fun playing with for years, not just something to entertain us for 1 month until we get bored and start wanting more. If EA wants people to want to buy their DLCs, it should be because their content is so high quality we want more, not because it's shallow content that gets boring so easily that we just have to buy more DLCs to have fun with the game for a little more time.

this pack just sounds like theres no depth. something like university was good, it has a lot you can do, difficulty with rewards, expanding real life, maybe not different to the series but something NEEDED for the game. Eco life? you all might have voted for it but I guess I just do no understand how this was needed or how you are saying its revolutionary in some way? i just dont see any depth, isnt that the problem with the game we've been saying for along time now?

Last time, people voted for ECO as a stuff-pack theme. Stuff pack, not expansion pack. Expansion packs are the most expensive packs for the game and they should include something which is new to the sims world and has influence on general gameplay. This one has parts of other packs, such as 'changing game world' (Island Living, Strangerville), sustainability (off the grid from Island Living and Tiny Living), and the hundredth (that's how it feels) US-based world. Ladders should, and apparently will, be included with base game. There are some new makers, that's cool, but how often will you use them in general gameplay? How often will you try to clean up that world again in a new save, with a new sim? It's not a long-term influence on the gameplay, unless things like University, Seasons, or Pets.

I never even heard about the leak and when I watched the trailer, before even seeing any of the comments, I felt like they were taking bits and pieces of other packs and putting them into one. I’m not at all excited for this pack personally, not because my expectations were high because again I didn’t know about this county style pack that was falsely leaked or whatever, but because it seems so empty

AGREED! I knew nothing about the fake farming leak and still when I saw this was going to be the new expansion, I was like....really.....😑. The whole thing just makes me feel bored.....

Totally agreed, from a consumer's point of view, I feel like this pack isn't worth an 'expansion' pack but definitely can't be just a stuff pack. At first, I thought that ladders were exclusive to this pack so I felt like, oh there are lots of new animations for new objects that's probably why they classify it as an expansion pack. But so many simmers say that the ladder is more likely a base game update (which I'm grateful for if it's true because...finally!) then, this pack should have been a game pack in my opinion. But well, things are probably very different from the dev's point of view. I'm sure they have a good reason why they call it an expansion pack.

I’ve never heard of the farming pack leak either but I’m personally extremely excited about it. They have so many different things going into this like up-cycling, candle, and juice making and this expansion pack looks almost all game play which we need more of in sims 4. And its a completely new world, which most new worlds come in expansions packs. So, i’m very excited and I don’t think their taking bits from other packs. Like the world helping thing is kinda like from Sulani but in Sulani you couldn’t worsen the environment and the environment wasn’t even that bad to begin with, this one is (Or atleast seems like it is). I’m very excited and think this is really cool. But i can kinda see where your coming from.

literally same, i saw the announcement of the eco living expansion on the sims instagram today (and i love sims but i dont follow all the info and "leaks" so i didn't know about country pack or anything) but this seems so boring, like making candles or juices? ok cool i guess but what, just so i can burn a candle? idk it just seems boring to me and idk its just eh

Am i the only one who is genuinely excited about this pack?! I've been using mods for this kind of stuff for ages and i can't believe it's finally being added-

I still kind of think that this should of been a game pack because its story progression kind of like strangerville where you can only play it through once.

Literally not at all, you haven't played it yet how can you possibly say that? You can live in it just like any other world and it can slowly get better in the background or you can choose to use it as a dirty polluted world like i know a lot of people are already really excited to do!

Dina Kohn Then you continue to use the entire community aspect of the game? And you build houses and have families same as you would in any game. And by the sounds of it the world may even be able to change back if you don’t look after it.

there's always going to be bad things about everything. However, just because there are a few minor bad things, they doesn't completely derail the entire pack.

@@Tre_stories i feel the same. i feel like we've gotten 1/2 the pack already throughout the bits we've gotten in other packs. i'm not paying $40 to expand on... a recycling object? a candle making object (i'm assuming it's there to help promote the knitting pack & the sims "etsy")? cleaning a town? i haven't even seen a lot of new animations; i have seen them reuse island living & strangerville animations though. i'm just.. meh. i'm in the same camp as other people that i wouldn't complain nearly as much if it were a game pack but being an EP feels like a huge waste.

kayla's "everything wrong with x/y" videos are constructive criticism on the things that the sims 4 puts out. like how builds are bad looking, incomplete, or how annoying gameplay can be, or comparing it to previous games. it's not just complaining or hate. she's said before that she doesn't hate the sims 4 or the packs.

We voted for an eco living STUFF pack Also I don’t want a pack that I play through once which is going to be this one. I tired of story gameplay this is a sandbox game I should do anything I want with my family. That was the Sims now they keep pushing this story thing with Jungle adventure, Island Living, Strangerville, and now this it annoying.

I have to b honest this trailer just made me reinstall sims 3 and I kinda want to abandon sims 4 at least for a while now 😭😂

Seriously, I just want to go play my fairy rock star in Sims 3 and have him play gigs with his band members, and go ride horses on his down time.

The thing I'm most upset about is that they're not calling it "Eco Living" ; we already have City Living and Island Living... why didn't they keep the ball rolling?

I personally agree, but I also saw someone in a Facebook group the other day when the fake “Country Livin’” was leaked complaining that everything has living after it. So it’s impossible to please everyone 🤷🏼‍♀️

Island living was more focused on cleaning up and protecting ocean ecosystems. From what we’ve seen and been told it seems this will about your sims live an eco green life and working with your community to keep the world healthy.

eco living was not the second placer. laundry day was a subset of the over-all theme that we voted for and the overall theme that won was eco-living.

I know that people defending the sims team can be annoying, but for once I think they didn’t mean to be “recycling” ideas. Every thine we’ve gotten little bit of eco friendly content a lot of people have been really excited so they probably took that as a sign that we wanted more and that’s why they did this.

@@terminalindeedgames2398 no, she is not. first vote was for theme and the five options they gave us were eco living, starter home, arcade stuff, dangerous stuff, and wedding stuff. eco living WON that vote. during the 4th vote they finally let us vote on what the main focus of the pack would be. the options for that vote were laundry, off the grid, food preserves, and carbon conscious. we literally ended up laundry because eco living WON the first vote.

i feel like people need to remember that when we voted for eco living, it comprised of literally every single thing from laundry day, island living, AND tiny living. also the world resembles strangerville. eco lifestyle only contains smog and garbage, but of course it’s liked by game changers because they’re not spending $40 on it. laundry day, tiny living, and island living are the “my first pet stuff” of eco lifestyle lmao

I’m just a little worried that the expansion will end up feeling like a game pack, but at the price of an expansion pack.

this seems really up my alley...why are so many people hating on it. like literally it’s only a trailer you can’t judge it on a video that is a minute and thirty six seconds long. give them a break. also we get ladders....LADDERS
