The NEW CASPER TEST (2021) Tips and BIG Changes | CASPer, Snapshot and Duet

This will be a guide for the NEW CASPer test which is now being referred to as the "Altus Suite" exams. We're going to be looking at and breaking down the new features of CASPer, SnapShot and Duet to discuss the changes to the exam, the new scoring system, and some tips for each section. We're also going to be looking a conversation that I had with CASPer themselves regarding how to write the exam multiple times in a single year. Whether you're writing the CASPer / Altus Suite exams for Medical School, Nursing, Veterinary School or anything else, I'm hoping that this video clears some things up and can be helpful for students that need to do well on the test. Feel free to leave any questions that you have in the comment section below :)

    Very helpful video. Your tip on practicing first on canadian schools for those of us applying to american schools is pure genius. Bit too late for me cause I'm a procrastinator and my exam is tomorrow but good for future reference haha. Thanks fam!

    Thank you for sharing that! It's very informative. What would you suggest for a first year like me to explore whether I would want to be a doctor?

  • @nxtgenmd

    @nxtgenmd

    Talk to some doctors or students :) Watch some doctor VLOGS from the different specialties. The most important thing to do is ask yourself what you want your life to look like 5,10, and 20 years out from now. Being a doctor can be good, it can also be really really rough at times 🥲 I'm biased, but I love the profession. The pay is good and depending on your specialty of choice, I think there's something for everyone. You work very long hours in most cases though and will need to be comfortable with making decisions that many other healthcare workers do not. In many cases there is a lot of responsibility which can be a form of stress. Keep an open mind and see what interests you :)

    Ok, I see how you knew your score now 😂! So, the quartiles are for a specific program, or is it nation or international wide?

  • @nxtgenmd

    @nxtgenmd

    Glad to hear it :D So far Duet is only required for some schools (just like snapshot) but I expect that like snapshot and CASPer, more and more schools will begin using it in the future.

    If the school does not require the snapshot (like McMaster) would it make us stand out if we still do it or will they not look at it at all?

  • @nxtgenmd

    @nxtgenmd

    Hey :) Some schools don't require Snapshot at all and some say that it's optional. If it's not required, then no point in doing it. If it's optional, the consensus that I've heard from students is that it's better to do it. best of luck!

    Hi there. I hope ur doing well. what would u say is the biggest reason why applicants dont do wll on casper? Alot of ppl follow the same format however someone can get fourth Quartile and other first quartile.

    Hi Ali :) A few of my friends needed to write CASPer again before applying to residency and they did very well (most of which in the 4th quartile) --> I say this because my medical school values CASPer a lot for med school admissions and these are examples of people who have now done well twice in a row. I do not believe that a high score on this test comes down to luck as some online forums have suggested lately. As a result, I believe that the differences in scores amounts to how applicants fundamentally tackle the questions and the prep that they've done before hand. Please see my long video on CASPer for the methods I used for a high score and all the best when you need to write your own test :)

    I’m a RPN working in CANADA as a ventilation and tracheostomy nurse do I need to do this test? I’m not sure I’ve written the licenses practical nurse exam and that was brutal plus I have done the jurisprudence exam for Ontario which is hard too but I don’t know what is the requirement to become a diagnostic Sonographer

    That is correct :) I believe that the only exception is if you are applying to both French and English programs - this may require that take 2 different casper tests. Please check this on the website if it applies to you
