I wish people would finally understand how to really buy a car. Purchase the vehicle, and drive it for the next 20 years while maintaining it properly. Instead people are treating cars like disposable items, which is beyond ridiculous.

My incentive is to keep driving my 2007 Toyota Matrix 1.8L 145,000 kms with its wind up windows & CD player, living the dream.

Good on you. i am mullling around the idea of buying an old 80s or 90s Wrangler and fixing it up (engine and trans swap, new wiring, interior, etc.) and running that bad boy until i die.

Living the dream too with my 99 Mitsubishi coupe, five-speed manual, crank windows, manual locks, manual seats, simple and built to last. Made in Japan too. 234k miles so far, and running strong. I will drive her another 25 years if she lets me.

I am no economist here, however the graph that you showed only took into effect of prices. The only reason those prices rose, is because of the quantitative easing after 2008 that allowed people to purchase more with lower interest rates. In fact, the prices back in 2017,18 and 19 before the C word, people would STILL not be able to purchase vehicles IF interest rates were as high as they are today. The auto companies took advantage of the low rates and increased prices. Now the chickens are coming home to roost.

I bought a ram big horn in 2019 for 42,000$. Now it’s 70,000$. That’s 70% increase in 5 years.

I'll keep driving my old vehicles... they run perfectly fine. New cars are money holes 🕳

Ram ask 20% off MSRP…..Then walk away and don’t look back.

i just want an basic car. 4 wheels, AC, backup camera and bluetooth speakers with radio (and airbags, seat belts, lights). NOTHING ELSE. no GPS, no lane departure, no cruise control, no auto braking, no sunroof, no touch screen. i need my car to carry me and my tools around. not a basement gamer chair that goes on the highway

Frankly, a brand new truck costing $40,000 is unreasonably high. A Jeep at $40,000 is unreasonable. I will just keep driving my little 99 coupe with 234K miles. $0 car payment for 9 years is a wonderful thing.

co worker was paying on his 2020 kona for the last 4 years nerver missed a single payment and wanted to trade it in for a used 2019 mustang gt, dealer was asking 38,000 canadian for it with 60,000kms on it. they also said he woudl be paying 280 bi weekly for 7 years at 19%....THAT IS CRAZY!!!!!!!!! But ppl dont think like we/i do...he thought was was a GREAT deal and well worth it because and this is hsi words "thats a normal price for a vehicle now days..."

2% drop in prices does not equal a collapse! Average prices have jumped up 38% - over 60% in many cases, over the last 4 years - thus 2% is just about NOTHING.

Dropped 2%? They need to drop 200%... Yes, the dealers need to pay US to take their cars

The reason the price of new vehicles is so high right now the manufacturers have been prioritizing production of trucks and SUV’s. Because that is where most of their profits come from. I work for an auto parts manufacturer and we were told years ago that hardly no profit is made by the manufacturers with majority of cars. Remember when ford stopped building the ranger? That’s because it cost the same amount of money for ford ranger as it did an f150. The f150 was not profitable to make anymore They make profit for selling even the most basic equipped suvs and trucks. Also wage increases have shot up a good bit so now it costs more to make any vehicle.

I got a decent deal on my 24 IS 350. Lexus is kicking but in this market. Surprised with all the recent screwups

If Americans knew what it really cost to produce that new $45,000 vehicle they would NEVER buy another. Auto manufacturers listen up. This info will soon be disclosed I promise

you flamed the Chrysler 300 against the Camry, but due to listening to you and the other car info youtubers i was able to get a beautiful Pearl Velvet Red 2023 300 with 10 miles on it and the black out package for 28k OTD, in the crappy dealer state of Florida!! Love it hope it stays good, first foray with a Chrysler/Dodge product!

I work at a CJDR dealer. Because the 300 has remained minimally unchanged for the past decade… it’s actually one of the more reliable vehicles from Stellantis

SUV and Cars present the best value where pick up trucks are the most expensive and present the least value.

If manufacturers are not careful they will lose even more money people cannot afford thses over prices cars etc under 30000 is just about wht people can afford unless they finace these cars for 84 months or longer

My wife has 13' Honda Accord 62,000. I have a 19' 4Runner 78,000. No payments. My neighbor is a mechanic. No issues.

Here's the truth. A 55,000 dollar truck is really worth 32,000 dollars. A 35,000 dollar sedan is worth 22,000. I don't care about the kind of technology new cars have. When you produce enough of something the price drops. Financing a vehicle is the least of priority that most Americans not coming up until retirement age should be worrying about. If you have to finance a car finance one within the budget. Once it's paid off keep it until the wheels fall off. Then when the wheels fall off take a short term loan and repair the vehicle and keep it another 15 to 25 years. Vehicles are a depreciating asset that Americans prioritize over actual homes/property.
