ARe you insane it spoils the looks of this lovely coupe , not only that the big wheels and flared arches damage the frame and make certain manouvers impossible to film without trickery , stuff like wheelspin had to be faked , but its the looks what are spoiled the most .

@@philipchurchill6508quite sane, and a longtime admirer of the standard XJC - in fact an old neighbour had a Daimler Double Six Coupe, which was simply stunning. But, I still like Steed’s XJC - it was after all a spiritual successor to his Bentley Blower - another race derived British car. Sadly by the mid-70s Bentley didn’t make sporting cars anymore, so I suppose the production company thought this was a suitable equivalent. As for the handling - it was a TV show - of course it’s faked. Do you you really think The Duke’s Of Hazzard or The Bandit successfully survived all those jumps when they filmed those shows?

@@stevieboymkii Yes, you're probably right. That Jaguar XJC was a beast though, and a one off (well strictly speaking there were 2 made, the car in this clip, plus a stripped out stunt car, sadly broken up after production of the programme finished). Apparently, it was a real handful to drive, even for the stuntmen. It still exists by the way, although was in a terrible condition a few years back, but sold at auction for £60,000 odd. Hopefully well on it's way to its former glory by now.

We went to buy this very car in the 80s ! We had a black jaguar xj6 coupe and wanted another one for my brother.. they were fetching about £2500 in the days ..we saw this advertised at a garage in Dudley and thought it was a good buy for £1500..turns out it was £15000!! In them days ..the guy said it was owned by steed from avengers and it had a plate on it I think it was STD 1 something.. we kicked some tyres and came back empty hand.. it was after that I saw it on tv :.
