I really appreciate the interview. It is nice to hear a clear explanation of what specifically is inaccurate and dangerous about Neo-Adviata and contemporary non-dual teaching. I have personally experienced what Jessica is talking about. I have benefitted SO MUCH just by noticing that the ego is not something that can, or should be, destroyed. I think that being present is possible without being completely overwhelmed by our thoughts; I have experienced this and it has freed me from debilitating depression; AND what I think is not helpful is teaching people to attempt to totally and completely annihilate the ego; this attempt, in my experience, has led me back to debilitating depression once again. Living with a grounded ego is essential to a balanced life. ❤❤❤

Excellent insight about non-duality mirroring narcissistic abuse. Years ago while in the grip of trauma-induced surrender, I realized that most of the teachings on enlightenment mimic psychopathy and narcissim, the I-care-about-nothing attitude, the sway of absolute non attachment, the 'you can do what you want but I'm always at peace" rhetoric behind the most breathtaking veils of eloquence-all point towards a profound break from reality on the part of these supposedly enlightened sages.

This exactly described how I felt. Totally disconnected from real life. I’m having to work so hard to get back into reality. It’s been exhausting.

It's quite incredible that eckart tolle has made so many millions out of saying the same thing over and over. Bringing oneself into the present is definitely helpful to calm down etc. Not knocking any of that, but the ridiculous following he has garnered.... Anyway, this lady presented herself really well and I'm impressed she has become grounded so well after all that depersonalisation.

Tony, this is an excellent series and this guest is very well spoken. The amount of gaslighting is pretty intense. Seems like people get on the hamster wheel and (understandably) have a hard time getting off. I completely agree with you about the subtlety.

I have been part of a Gurdjieff group that was emphasising on Presence, Self-awareness and Observation. While I had benefits from their theories, it all felt just a tool to control me. I feel that beyond this struggle to become aware, we all fall prey to the wetiko that is all about cancelling other people, rewritting them and making them obsolete. I saw this over and over, people using Presence as a main tool to render someone else obsolete, and this is where it's all quantified: Presence vs. Word. Whenever the powers that be and even politicians cannot express something and control they step into the "presence modus operandi" or, the attitude of emptiness, which automatically rewrites the matrix. It's a whole game and nothing from the spiritual paradigm hasn't been corrupted, apart from being genuine, organic and knowing true love inside you, the rest has been all corrupted already...maybe in the beginning these teachings were good intended but now they're psi ops. thank you for raising awareness on this!

In Buddhism presence was always meant to be a means towards the cultivation of awareness, not an end. In the McMindfulness movement they make it the goal, as if the mind of an animal were preferable to that of a human. Youre so right, everything gets corrupted nowadays, and watered down until its unrecognizable, and then everyone goes full wetiko anyway. Thats what happens when you banish the masculine principle imo.

the surprising thing is that it turns out that getting sucked into a cult can happen to anyone, though some are more susceptible than others. A great book to understood more about this is called "Cults in Our Midst"

Sounds like she had a misperception of the ego. It's not about killing the ego, just better understanding it and taming it to help bring mental peace. The ego is necessary but can b overactive, which can cause suffering. I've never lost my sense of self from healing mental suffering and ego, quite the opposite. It's normal to distance ourselves from the insane outer world, but not deny it while healing. See the evil and wrongness of this realm, but not get caught up in it. Sounds like she just got caught up in the new age bs while healing. Our ego,Spirit, and body are all necessary and connected while we are experiencing this realm. Must heal all together to gain clarity & overall health.

That is so sad, and I can see how this happens. It's a replacement of one set of conditioned beliefs with another. Beliefs are the problem. Yes be wary of anything that looks like a religion. There is a simple shift available without any of this following, and importantly it changes nothing but does end suffering. I was a jerk before and now I'm a jerk who realises his true nature. No white robes and no angelic presence and totally ordinary. If the new beliefs cause suffering then you know something is wrong, drop them. It is a minefield. Yes the vulnerable are drawn to this. The fact that you suffered and choose to work on this with a wish to not perpetuate suffering a the greatess thing. That sense is it. You don't need beliefs. Iain McGillchrist will interest you. Oh and resonance is not always the best indicator, trust your intuition. Much love.

Interesting story. In a way I think I understand it. For me I really do not miss all that suffering and fear. Yes I can only really talk to a very few people, most have no clue. Yet I have 0 desire to get back to all that pain of being a character or person in this "real" world. For those who have felt unconditional Love. Let fearless Love guide you ❤ It maybe a false light looking unbelievably real. So far I got to this that If there is a false light there should also be real light.

Seekers go through various stages over the course of lifetimes as do non-seekers. This is just one of the steps. Sincere aspiration will draw one through and beyond all the various levels of unclarity eventually. Til then, most everyone is getting what they are capable of asking for in life. Eventually each person wakes up and moves on to the next level of unclarity until a certain level of clarity and selflessness begins to faintly emerge. At that point the traps become more refined and on it goes until in one distinct lifetime, one sees through the games and begins a life of true service to humanity helping to free those who are stuck in the myriad levels of illusion. Everything has a bit of truth in it. Glean the truth and move on.

That feeling of detachment… lack of motivation. Being there and not being… dissolving the ego… how many times they drill that “spiritually” on our brains? Once you start, they lead you to that new age fashion and one lead you to the next trap.

And to top it up, the person is supposed to be looking forward/ be thankful for such experience and believe it's beneficial in any way.. It is sinister to the core.

I’m seeing clearer now. Never liked the Exkart Tolle book. Everyone loved it and I tried for two years to read it. Pick it up. Put it down. Pick it up and put it down. Still I struggled through it. Deepok Chopra was harder to spot. Dangerous with some truths sprinkled in. I see it now. Another one I look back on now is the late Louise Hayes. Many good thoughts but her saying she invited her molestation , as was explained to her from other healers. WTF. Always our faults for what transpires. We aren’t centered enough, manifesting enough, or I’m duality enough. I see it now. Made to feel those children deserved or people deserve bad stuff. We somehow invite it in. As what Delores Cannon speaks of that we have done prior arrangements to be abducted. Head slap. Too bad I got rid of most of my books, as it would be fun to revisit and pick them apart now. 😂 Put hindsight is always there after the fact. Just like after you get out of cults, you see it after. This is slow and happy feeling until you lose yourself. Great show. Thank you both.

It’s important to understand that this is one person’s perspective on ego and no duality. The ego is not a bad thing and I never got that take from Eckhart Tolles books. Support groups? Really? Sounds a bit extreme and fanatical to me. 🧐

It's confusing why the dismissal. Hear it a lot. Many people do absorb that message, and end up very harmed. There are many people desperate for support and I don't think you would feel a support group is extreme if you were suffering in the way that others are. Of course if you haven't experienced something first-hand it could be hard to understand it, but typically this is where empathy and compassion come in.

although i think that nondual teachings are not the typical new age nonsense (zen and dzogchen are nondual) but could actually be a way out of simulation, jessica has simply switched trades: she is now following a teaching that the ego does not refuse. The rest is the same.

Actually my ego loved these pointers, It was fully on board with bringing about it's own demise with them! A far greater challenge to get a self-denying ego to wake up to being an essential, sacred part of the greater whole of what we are

I sent you a comment about Mooji in another one of your videos. He has his adherents bow to him and kiss his feet. He regards himself as a potentate. The Master girded up himself and washed the feet of his followers. Not the other way round. We all have a personal Father fragment given to us individually from the Father of us all. Which means we are all equals. We don’t need to give our power away to a guru, pastor, reverend, priest, etc. We have what we need inside of ourselves.

Many and i mean many, never will.Recently had an elderly lady tell me the arm pokes won't affect her becaue she does reiki She made my head spin.

Also Tony we all keep our unique personality, our unique sense of self. We never become an amorphous blob of consciousness without any sense of self.

That is what you get when you follow others. Influencers and gurus. Everything you need is within you. You just need to let go of your thoughts. And you will get the answer. If the answer comes in thought form, it is a deception. It's the matrix. But what I found interesting is that the matrix is trying to vilify non-duality ...aka the real world through this woman. This is a good sign. The matrix is getting desperate. And I like it.

"the matrix" is raising awareness about the dangers of a system that teaches suicidal young adults that they'll never be free from suffering unless they metaphorically blow their brains out, and helping people avoid throwing away their precious individuality for a curative fantasy😖As for not needing anything from others... we can believe that all we want, but we're reliant on countless people just for our basic survival needs. How did the last meal you ate make its' way to your plate? We're interdependent, whether we like it or not. That's a red pill discovery. I've found it's a precious, beautiful thing to celebrate and be grateful for.

Nonduality and neo Advaita as an institution is a cult. Forget the official meaning of a cult for a moment. There doesn't have to be a leader, however in the modern nondual community there are often leaders/ gurus. One of the charactoristics of an unhealthy philosophy is that it encourages you to relinquish your sense of agency or power over to either the belief system or the tenents of the philosophy: in nonduality that would align with the idea, for example, that there is no self. Many other fundamental ideas or taught and expressed directly by teachers or they are spread through the group members. Another factor in cult structures is the exclusivity of the philosophy. The meaning is defined from within the philosophy and the pronouncements of the leaders and or teachers. The nondual community does not use or encourage secular ideas as a way to understand the philosophy; it's interpreted from within. In fact my observations are that they discourage using secular comparisons or ideas as if they were inferior. To say nonduality doesn't have beliefs is the biggest gaslighting coverup of it's neo-history. It has many implied beliefs and they are expressed in the philosophy as dogma and intellectual ideas and practices. True, it has no well defined beliefs but many many implied beliefs. That's why it can be so insidious and misleading. Many of the nondual community teachers and leaders are narcissists. The entire philosophy has a kind of narcissistic structure through the lack of empathy or felt acknowledgment of the sufferings of the world. It's very much about ME ME ME and MY awakening. The gurus capitalize on that human tendency and exploit it. My 10 cents. Beware of nonduality.

I’ve worked with Igor….cashmere shiavism, that is about being in the body is a positive philosophy… he on the other hand, and it took me a while, but his narcissism came to the surface in how he distanced himself from people at the retreat , shouting at a staff member for forgetting a flower on the chair beside him. He told me to stop taking my meds immediately.. so, the source of his information is useful …. I’d stay away.

@@peterbuckley9731 yes, something in my gut told me to stay away. Other red flags are the perfectly produced videos, with the perfect lighting, and the perfect clothing, perfect settings, etc.. The involuntary bodily movements and vocalizations look demonic to me and the people always seem afraid and timid and like something has taken them over. Something is very off here. Thanks for sharing.

that's regression to infancy after traumatic life event, you can't dissolve the ego, that's nonsense.

The only thing you want to make sure of is not to ever come back here so don't go to the light and keep those f...g light beings away from you , blast outta the Matrix and back home.

there are many great western nondual teachers. You seem to misunderstand that it is all about some 'depersonalization', as you call it. Tolle is not a nondual teacher, he is more of a psycologist, imo, and that has its purpose, too. Nothing is good or bad, everything can be a pointer to the Absolute. I begin to suspect that this hate against neo-advaita that is uprising is connected to the hindu nationalism in India. Going to check that out, maybe I come to another conclusion after more investigating.
