Nice review,really like this car,I dont even mind the Transformers badges, however,as you say,some of the touch sensitive interior controls are frustrating,a bit like the touch and slide controls in the golf,why do they do it? Sometimes buttons n knobs are the still the most effective solution in my view.

On the Mk8 golf, if you double tap the Hot & Cold temp control at the same time it brings up a seat heating shortcut on the touchscreen, probably the same in this and other VAG cars too. 👌

Turning on the heater, fan speed, seat warmers and windscreen heater takes me about 3 seconds in my 2012 car. Stop with the fucking no button interior

VAG is missing sales in the USA by not bringing cool products like this over. Love the video, Joe!! A little forbidden fruit to view. You Rock as always!!

Two-finger tap on the temperature slider cycles through seat heat modes. There are many shortcuts to do common things quick and easily. Just need to read the manual first ;)

The cup holder has been done on purpose as well. The front one is for bottles etc and the smaller one at the back is for cans. The reason it’s smaller is so the can doesn’t move around or fall over 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Four months after you Leon Cupra ST R I bought a Cupra ST carbon edition, 1 of 50 in the UK before they launched the R....no ABT or additional camber but otherwise almost identical. Absolutely love it. Family practical and comfortable, but savage when you want it to be. Can't see me ever wanting to part with it, well...until I can afford an RS6! Love your honest reviews, reviewing a car for exactly that and not mearly the badge. Looking forward to the M3 mind you!

Your interior go pro failing was definitely a blessing in disguise. It was hilarious hearing your usual commentary while seeing an outside perspective of your shoulder moving around. Made it much more animated. Keep it up Joe!

Design and colour is beautiful! Really liking the steering wheel and the size of the infotainment system.

@@mrbeedeeaitch fantastic mechanically. Really great car. Software? Absolute trash, so many bugs and crashes all the time, even after being back for firmware updates etc. But i look past that when it goes into beast mode.

Can’t wait for the VZ5, that will be a serious treat imho! Superb review, as always!

Recently got a Leon cupra (previous gen) and I bloody love it. Will never get bored of people not expecting it to go as fast as it does.

This is such a compelling product! Cupra/Seat did a great job. Also incredible value, they sell for around 35-37k€, so around £30k new... that’s basically discounted GTI money.

Not the VZ models, as is the one in this video. They're £39k, and still worth every penny.

When you take into consideration the standard equipment this is arguably the best value suv on sale.

Just put an order in for my vz2 2.0 litre, literally kept it under 40k because I didnt need no options added! Helps the £500 tax a year

Ignition and drive mode on the steering wheel - perfect. They should do that in all VAG cars 👍

A quick two finger press on the heating slider turns on the heated seats.

Cool design and that color!

Sear heating can be activated by touching the heat + and - (climatcontrol buttons next to the Infotaiment) at the same time.

Was hoping the new Hyundai Tucson would look more like this, just my thought. Thanks for the video Joe.

Ive got one you wont be disappointed. have a look at ABT Sportline upgrades. Having the car lowered in April by Richier automotive. They are waiting for VAG approval to offer the power upgrade too.. 370hp !!

Nice video. Thanks. Another issue with UK model is no option for ABT upgrade. LHD markets have option to specify ABT upgrade on factory orders to get the power to 365bhp. And no Beats Audio or 12v socket in the boot for the UK Market.

I just ordered. Tucson ultimate. My sons Formentor is brilliant, my youngest son has an Audi A3 All of these cars are legends.

Love this car!

I had a seat Leon cupra with the adaptive cruise control which includes the anti collision sensor, sounds great until a gust of wind blows a crisp bag in front of the car and it slams the brakes on.

Really like this car, can't wait for the VZ5, if what I have heard is true. Looks stunning in this colour !

Great video! It really is a great car, but what you brought up as annoyances along with a few other things I discovered is what made me not buy one and turned my head for a different buy. I still look at these whenever I see one, but for me it doesn't work having as an everyday car...

Jo I recommend trying the Ashbury to Wantage Road, particularly in your M2 😁

I’ve got a VZ Edition which replaced my Cupra Ateca. Some mightly brembo brakes on this version.

😂 see what ou did there, of course it’s a Seat but according to my local Seat Dealer it isn’t, it so much isn’t that they aren’t allowed to sell them and seeing we don’t have any “Cupar” dealers in Northern Ireland I am having to get mine from England 🙄

If sound is being created electronically then there should be a way to switch it off deep in the ECU. ?

Good video Joe. I have find that seat in the rear is not comfortable and you can not adjust it. What about ground clearance? I missed this info, looks no more 16 cm.

Doesnt the Ateca and Formentor have different engines, they both have 2 litre turbo charged but the formentor has latest developed volkswagen engine ??? The same as in the series 8 golf r?

The question for me is whether it is worth paying more (quite a bit more) and go for an RSQ3? At least for the 5 cylinder

A friend of mine has one of these beasts & it gives my S3 a run for its money! Lot of SUV for the money too.

How far is it from driving Audi S3 ? Is it really different that S3 driver won’t be happy on a formentor?

Just a hatchback essentially though and for £40k there are lots of options, but it’s different I guess.

Would appear that the T Roc R is cheaper, have you ever compared it to the TRoc R? Odd how the high level brake light is not high level, sort of defeats its purpose.

This is a car that has lots of standard options that would be very expensive options on another car. Amazing for a lease this car you wouldn't need to tick anything.

I am not liking the interior quality, but exterior is so aggressive in just the right way. Huge cudos for bravery on design. I come from 3.0tdi, so to me it felt like less power than 300ps and a bit lively through corners compared to a normal estate. 10 years ago I would have been all over it 👍

@@Nathan.150 I currently own a 2016 A4 S-line - the Formentor is no where near that in interior quality. Formentor is more like a Ford. It is fine but nothing special apart from the Transformers logo ;)

@@christianolsen9781 I disagree. The car you own is nice but the difference in interior is no where near night and day between your car and this. Maybe you prefer your cabin. But most of the time sometimes you really do need to see things in the metal to if you like it more than the video (or not). But I’m surprised that you’d talk about it’s power regardless having owned your 3.0 tdi when driving the a4. You’d notice the power difference considerably between it and this. But personally if I had to pick between your car and this. I’d pick this. And you have a nice car. But that’s personal preference.

@@KING0SISQO not sure I understand all of your comment, but I have driven the Formentor if that is what you mean. And quality feel is very different to me ( except Formentor seats which are very nice). Switches and screen in Formentor is miles from Audi quality to me.

Can't wait for mine to arrive. Only the 1.5 but I love the look of this car. But the blue leather is horrible, happily I've gone for black leather with desire red paintwork

You press with two fingers for seat heating, no need to use the menu

Currently have a cupra ateca...love that car but this is definitely an upgrade

Great Video Joe 😊. My neighbour got one on a 21 plate a week ago and it looks stunning. For me it’s the £40k price tag, you can pick up a good used highly spec’ed X4 M40i or GLC 43 Coupe. I think they will do really well on the used market once they get to late £20k.

This or the 135i as a second car in the family? Was really keen on the yaris gr, but I dont think it can cope with the kids on a school run from time to time.....

you would have loved it with the panoramic roof....

well, i like it, i may be a little biased as currently drive an Ateca and previously had a leon, (both non sporty diesel autos) but still, nice allrounder in my opinion

If it was your money Joe would you take this over the Ateca as one o these is my next car. Im still leaning towards Ateca as a tow bar for bikes and all the crap that goes wih a weekend at a bike park.

This car is pretty slick...

I've had this car in the VZ2 310 bhp version for over three months now, yes it is very good but there's that infotainment system that's full of bugs and does some weird stuff like not letting you enter the car, or it can make random phone calls to even slamming the brakes on for no apparent reason whatsoever as just a few examples. VW know about this problem as it's a similar problem across their range of cars fitted with this infotainment system but the Formentor has many electrical niggles that need sorting, what are VW doing about it? Very little.

Hi Joe, did you find you were a bit too tall for this car to be totally comfortable?

I know they are totally different segments, but would you choose this over a M135i as they are priced very similar

How is the cabin noise ? Is it fairly quite on motorways ?

interesting comments about the PHEV version. I have to have PHEV for work so Im opting for that in this car and of course I wont be expecting the same drive as the 310. However that PHEV running gear which is also in the Cupra Leon you hated is also in the Skoda Octavia iVRS and Golf GTE and in those cars the press have mostly great things to say. So im wondering if you were just spoiled by the Seat Cupra Leon back along and nothing will now compare?

I'm really hoping that they drop in the VW GTI's 245 engine, DSG box and front drive... No sign of it coming but it would be the sweet spot in the range for many I think..

I’m Cupra/Seat salesman here in Spain and we just got told(literally today) that orders are now open for the 245hp front wheel drive version but ain’t sure if it will be available in every market

Good review Joe but the front is nice looks a Maserati grille ..the back looks like a Volvo which is the let down however the features are very good...performance great so the my overall conclusion is average...but if the shortfalls are eradicated it would be a plus 👍 ..

These look absolutely great in person, I’ve just swapped my 2019 Audi Q3 for a 2021 Tarraco FR Sport in deep black 😊 hopefully get it at the end of next week. Whilst I was waiting to sign the dotted line I had a look at one these and they look absolutely amazing.. especially in the nardo ‘lookalike’ colour with blue nappa leather. PS - for a Cupra Formentor V2 1.5 you can get them for sub 27K on carwow deals.

@@KING0SISQO For the price I paid for it and the spec was a no brainier, got every single option on it besides a panoramic roof as I travel with a roof box when on trips etc, mine is getting delivered tomorrow morning. I got mine through Perry’s Seat in Blackburn, worked out at 18% discount off list.

@@richardpearson6774 you got a sweet deal. I’m not sure what options she’ll pick. But I do hope it’s the 190hp model. She drives a Tiguan currently. So the power increase would be a noticeable difference to drive. If she could only pick one option. It’d be the sunroof which she has in her current car. It’s essentially the same car but more car for less money. I’m counting down the days. I’m excited for her. I know you will enjoy your car. My last car was a seat and I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless what snobs think.

Hi there. I have the VZ edition. You can change the settings to a low sensitivity. I drove an M performance 340i xdrive before this. it was alot easier in that BUT it just takes 20 mins sitting in the car to learn to change the settings. Have a look at ABT Sportline. Richier Auotomotive are VAG Cupra approved business. Having the ABT Sportline suspension added which lowers the car by 35mm and stiffens up the ride. The are also waiting for approval from VAG to allow them to upgrade power to 370hp currently offered in europe. Its around £500 for a tuning box which does not affect warranty . Happy driving
