The only other true contender to this microphone is the Earthworks SR314 which is also a handheld condenser microphone. I have the Neumann KMS 104 as well as the Earthworks SR314. Both sound incredible...

It's hard to choose between the KMS 105 and the KMS 104 plus, but I think, I prefere the KMS 104 plus because of slightly better wind shield, and a little bit bigger, but smoother colorization of the sound. The KMS 104 sounds pretty thin to me.

With a more quiet group, I would pick the KMS 104. It sounds more open and lively. I wonder how much more rejection the 105 actually has? It seems to be the most popular.

I am a singer shopping around for a hand held condenser mic for stage work and for making my own promo videos. After trying out a handheld condenser mic in a show a few wks ago I was surprised how clear and clean the sound was. There's so many brands on the market It's confusing they all claim to be the best. I don't know which one to go for. Although These mics do sound very good.

Ricky Howard You can’t get a better stage vocal mic than the KMS105. Been using mine for over 15 years. Have tried several of the usual stage mics over the years and none even come close.

@@asimioneseioctavian Maybe in some spots, yeah. That's old-school jazz handheld mic technique. You can see that as far back as Ella Fitzgerald. I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying it's probably taught like that.

@Georg Neumann GmbH please make the KMS105 in a traditional broadcast end address microphone chassis. The BCM 104/705 don't sound as good and the form factor is not the best. Please please make the KMS105 in a broadcast style microphone like the RE20. I'll buy at least 6 for my podcast.

Nice demo and nice voice .. BUT .. you got the 104s at a ridiculously different height compared to the 105 and this is not a convincing comparison as you cannot possibly maintain the same position when singing into them. Why was your set up so screwed up man!
