Although the Lord is merciful, by His design sin must be punished, when there is no intervention then His law will take effect and that is “sin must be punished” hear this,
“but I found no one. 31 So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.”
Just as Christ took on our sins by giving himself as a ransom and fully satisfying the wrath of God. Thereby, quenching God’s wrath, as intercessors our availability helps to mitigate the effect of sin and satan’s strongholds upon the saints and the people of God.
