I feel like the main issue isn't that the show contradicts any of the games, its that it makes them almost entirely pointless. Why bother caring about any questline in or around the areas of shady sands or New Vegas when both are just going to be wiped out anyways?

If you replay New Vegas, there’s a lot of dialogue that suggests NCR is on the brink of collapse anyways, so this shouldn’t be that surprising. There’s no jobs, the army is splintering into little bands of deserters, and depending on your actions in Vegas you can absolutely kneecap the entire NCR in terms of trade, killing their president, etc.

If the fall and bomb were separate events there would have been a separate date... Also they moved Shady Sands to LA and compleatly changed the origin of it from an adobe farming village into a city inside the ruins. This compleatly breaks and ignores the plot of fallout 1 btw, this would also mean vault 13 and 15 had to be in LA on top of Junktown, Boneyard and the Cathedral, wow just like Bethesda liekes it, whole game self contained inside 1 city! I suppose Necropolis was one of the LA districts as well (would make sense since we see alot of ghouls in LA while canonicly they would live in Dayglow almost exclusively in NCR)! And the Hub? Let's cut it out, it's too organized and civilized, water, farms and caravans? Thats boring, wasteland shouldn't have any sort of economy!

@@YOGI-kb9tg You mean repeating the fan theories trying to explain his bullshit. Why is there no separate date under a bomb and why would you nuke a fallen city? They just messed up the date because they don't really case about the story making sense. I don't expect anything but self contradictionary vomit from people who wrote Fallout4 and especially the institute and synths, if they can't stop themsleves from contradicting their own lore on every level even on such a limited scope i don't belive they can bridge multiple games and tv show without messing it up even worse.

Shady sands stopped being an Adobe farming village after fallout 1 in fallout 2 its a massive city. Moreover nothing in the show states that its in LA. The show takes place across Southern California not just LA. Moreover the chalkboard date is more than likely a stylistic choice as to provide some ambiguity to the event for when Season 2 comes out.

People aren't arguing that the NCR is confined to a single city. People are arguing that if Shady Sands, the CAPITAL AND FOUNDING CITY of the NCR has fallen, and more importantly been NUKED, then the NCR surely has to be destroyed as a fighting force. In the show they can barely even muster together the strength to battle even a small detachment of the Brotherhood of Steel, a previously minor power in socal. Outside of 3 and 4, the Brotherhood is a relatively weak faction, allowed to exist since the NCR's too busy protecting their borders. Where are the rangers? Where is the economy? Where is the post-war civilisation that emerged to build a shining new republic? Nobody in New Vegas outside of the NCR believes that the NCR will inevitably fall. They call it "Over-extended" and if they do speak negative of the NCR, they discuss how they'll lose the 2nd battle for Hoover Dam. No mention of destroying Shady Sands. Legate Lanius is the only person who says anything about the conquest of the whole NCR, saying "I might one day have the honor of conquering the land known as California." And this is during the Legion ending. Which as can clearly be seen by the lack of mentioning the legion at all, or ANY other faction aside from the BoS, tells me that the Legion ending isn't canon. 3:33, nobody in the game says this. They say the republic is corrupt, but they never claim the NCR will fall from it. They only mention how it is hindered because of this corruption. Losing Hoover Dam doesn't cause the NCR to dissolve. Even House doesn't say as much. Kimball and Oliver would be fired, profits would dip, but the NCR would be back. He never states the NCR is doomed to die. Your entire video is spent strawmanning arguments into existence and then debunking them with evidence that's only half true. Long time fans are up in arms not because they "Don't understand" or are "Confused". They're angry because Bethesda has practically destroyed everything that they've known about Fallout for decades. They took arguably the most beloved faction in the whole franchise, and reduced them to a gang of militiamen for the Brotherhood to trounce in their shiny T-60 power armor and "It's totally not technocratic militarised fascism guys" mentality. People like Fallout 1, 2, and NV for many reasons, and they may disagree on a lot of the reasons. But they can all agree that they like these games because Bethesda didn't write them.

And also one thing to consider in Fallout NV, that Nevada is a frontier, barely regulated by the NCR, and potential battlefield. So everything said and shown about NCR in Nevada should not be applied to NCR as a whole.

Also if the NCR were to fall wouldn’t we be seeing legion forces attempts of invasion. Even if we say the legion and NCR both failed which are both prominent faction how the hell is the Enclave that only had remnants able to resurge compered to the other two. I’m not saying it’s impossible just seems highly unlikely.

It feels like the show runners decided to make every possible decision(that could make sense lore wise) to purposely remove as much of the west coast games influence as possible. The strip and ncr falling apart was always a possibility in the games. But to actually make that happen you have to make so many decisions that could ultimately culminate to that outcome. Not to mention vault tec is just evil now, no cool motives or anything, just evil people who want power. Oh and the brotherhood is the main faction again. Oh and the wastelanders are all stupid backwater people. Oh and guess what the enclave is back (again) after being destroyed in 2 separate games. Yes the show may be enjoyable and even good, but it’s not smart at all. Just like fallout 4, it’s a good game, but it’s not smart

The question remains, why even pick 2277 as the fall date? If its referring to the first battle of hoover dam (nothing else really significant for the ncr that year i think), thats strange because they won. Why not just make the start of the fall in 2281 after the second battle?

They just messed up because they don't care. They compleatly retconed Shady Sands loacation and the type of settlement it was thus braking the story of Fallout 1. The date being a few years off is really not a huge problem in comparacent.

How did they win? In New Vegas you can help the NCR, Mr House or Caesar with taking the Dam they just went for a different ending which is hard to fathom for most. There were ideas of nuking San Francisco way back but it seems Fallout 5 will revolve around San Francisco, so they reused that lore to bomb Shady Sands.

Todd revealed in an interview recently the bombs dropped after new Vegas and 2277 would fit with everything we find out in new Vegas of the NCR falling from political corruption on every level, security so bad raiders are unchecked in the heart of the NCR food and water problems people in new Vegas literally predict when the NCR would fall. It fits perfectly with the timeline.

It is Bethesda bought the Fallout IP and revived Fallout franchise from obscurity, for better or for worse (depending how much you hated Todd Howard). In a "symbolic" gesture, Bethesda had allowed the original Fallout veterans to created a total "mod conversion" of Fallout 3 by asset flipping most of Fallout 3 models and made several models from scratch incorporating elements from Van Buren (the original Fallout 3). The short development time and incorporating more complex RPG element than Fallout 3 means more bugs than Fallout 3 on consoles (specially PS3 version)hurting Obsidian's Metacritic score. I played New Vegas back in early 2011 Core 2 duo PC and hardly any game breaking glitches. Bethesda could have at least collaborated original Fallout 1/2/New Vegas writers to further enriched Fallout Series. I had been avoiding new TV shows because of rampant mediocrity and becoming as preachy as my strict 4th grade teacher or telling me being man makes me a war criminal. Fallout TV series is tolerable enough to be watchable and understands basic Fallout lore and the story and script is better written than what is coming out of Disney/Marvel recently.

A lot of people overlook the fact that the show is an ongoing narrative. Maybe the man in charge is Mr. House. Introducing the New Vegas strip in the initial season might potentially have lead to confusion, considering the creators' intention to evoke a feeling of desperation. I'm just glad that Bethesda, a mostly reputable source given they wrote Fallout 3& onwards is collaborating with the writing team, as opposed to resorting to literally anybody else. Maybe MTV cribs could have picked up the project instead. Honestly I'd watch that too
