    Yeah, the Lakers averaged 6 more free throw attempts per game than their opponents during this past regular season. That topped the league. The next two teams averaged only 2.8 more free throw attempts per game than their opponents. Yet, there are still LeBron fans that claim the refs don't call when opponents supposedly foul LeBron.

    The best part: Jovic doesn't carry on like a 7th grader out there. He wants to go home, when the job is finished, and be with his family. I don't see him knocking out his girlfriend/wife in an elevator, or crashing a car doing 80 around a corner, or partying at nightclubs flashing his Glock. He does give what he gets, though. He knocked down another player that "tested" him. Oh, he doesn't flop, or throw tantrums, and hasn't been jumping around hunting for rings, at least not yet, but I don't see it.

    It’s difficult to map a strategy against the Nuggets because the team adapts to different situations as they’re happening in real time. It’s a nightmare for the opposing team because they play the next best shot no matter the player, which is unselfish basketball that starts with Jokić, and is bought into by the big 4 starters - not to mention a decent bench. Box scores don’t track teamwork beyond assists. The chemistry of their team is special.

    Just to be clear, Jokic had good numbers. That's not the reason it was considered a bad game for him. It's his lack of aggression in the 1st half and the 7 turnovers. It was very uncharacteristic of him to do that.

  • @vlada

    @vlada

    18 күн бұрын

    Actually, he does the 5 shots in the first half but quite often in season but in the playoffs he doesn't. What he does often in playoffs and through this series is going overboard trying to get Murray going. When the latter is going 3/16 in a half, you'd wish Jokić would just take over (so that opponent doesn't distance themselves) but instead he keeps trying to get Murray to snap out of his shooting funk. Im guessing but I think Jokić knows that he could single handedly win a game or series but for them to win it all, Murray's shooting % has to get back to normal. 40% shooting, 29% from three like it is now just won't cut it.

    To answer your question....for the same reason that they push so hard the "LeBron as GOAT narrative." The empty suits and skirts of so much of the media feel the need for their GOAT (and MVP) to have a social and political agenda that they approve of (I hate the use of the word "woke." It's just so cliché anymore). And neither Jokic nor Michael Jordan are outspoken enough on "Social Justice" to suit the Room Temp IQ's at ESPN and other media outlets. So they fawn over LeBron James, the most overrated "superstar" in the histories of all four North American Major sports leagues (and also why they fawned over such a miserable human being like Megan Rapinoe).

    I don't know why it's said like that - I saw a good game by Nikola (taking into account that he was always doubled by two strong guys - Lebron and AD who is the best defensive center) but I didn't like the overall team play. They didn't move well, they didn't open up well for shots, Murray had a worse game than what we're used to, Gordon only started in one game and the others he played mediocre like KCP and R.J. who can do a lot better than shown... but kudos to MPJ who shot fantastically and with his game (along with Jokic) pushed his team to the next step. But unfortunately the bench does not bring them enough - unlike last year. I am not optimistic that I can easily reach the finals if the bench does not get involved much more seriously and provide a greater contribution. I support Denver, but the bench must contribute much more to the team than what they have shown us so far. If all the starters are healthy by the end of the competition, they have a good chance to defend last year's title and win a new title (perhaps a little harder than last year). It would be really fantastic and a very big success for Denver. It would be great for the team to bring BOGDAN BOGDANOVIC to DENVER, who would be a great addition to the team, either as a starter or as a sixth player. I think they would be unstoppable with him, and I think his contract with Atalanta will expire soon (I'm not sure about that, but I heard it somewhere). I think that he is not an overpriced player and that it would be good if Denver sold some of their players who do not have an important role (and there are a lot of them) and that they pay for that money and bring Bogdanovic as a proven good striker and player in general.

    No one sees that there is a serious problem for the American sports public at the upcoming Olympics. In fact, the Olympic tournament is the only international basketball competition that the American public respects. Here the Americans have the imperative of their absolute dominance by appearance and achieved results. It has never happened in an Olympic basketball tournament that the first star of the competition is someone who is not part of the "Dream Team"! If Jokić accepts the invitation of the Serbian coach and if that team is complete, the Americans could be in serious trouble. Serbs do not respect anyone, and they have by far the best basketball players outside the USA! Believe it or not, in Serbia the cult of basketball is stronger than in the USA, and the fans in the stands create an atmosphere that is incomparably better than anything seen outside those areas!

    And that's a good thing. I will actively root against any team with LeWhine on it. The USNWT squashed the idea that one should always root for their home country. Well, not exactly. I am a Pittsburgh Penguins fan, and I will root for the Canadians so long as Sidney Crosby is a member of that squad....but in that case, I did not actively root against the Americans. In soccer, I absolutely loved seeing Team Diva getting handed a serving of Humble Pie, and I would equally love to see LeBum get his comeuppance.

    Jok is the man. But he's not 1st in points. He's 5th in total points in the first round, and 6th in points per game. He is first in assists and rebounds though, both in total and per game. This is with all teams having played 4 or 5 games. I'm sure these numbers change when game 6 happens in these other matchups.
