Hahaha same! They were slow of course but nothing stopped them- they keep so much momentum- rip any O'Driscoll that stands in front of my sprinting shire horse.

@@SHIREANDCARRIAGEHORSESOfficial Best personalities and most all are sweet gentle giants. We have two 7 years old Shire Horse mares and there's very little that they won't do. They've always done anything that we've asked of them and they do it very willingly. Both are also very protective of their riders as well.

I think I love these gentleman showing the horses as much as I love the horses! 🥰

Absolutely Walter. Docking a horses tail is such a barbarian practice and it is sad that nowadays some people still do it.

@@ingridblohm-hyde805 • The horses tails are not docked...some are traditionally braided with ribbons and doubled up so that they don't get them caught in farm machinery (Shires were originally bred to pull ploughs etc), and 2) The show judges in a can see the musculature of the animal's rear end. The tails which are shorter are clipped to look neat. Tail docking of horses has never been a thing in the UK, or anywhere else as far as I'm aware.

Just checking a full tail not docked but plaited I hope. My father could do all these plaits and my hair too. Best hair dresser ever. Beautiful horses

I was so scared that the entire tail would be gone- I'm so glad it's only the hairs that has been cut short and not the entire tailbone! Beautiful Shire you've got there ^^

Docking tails is illegal in UK.

I watched the showing of Belgian horses on youtube and found this venue and these handlers to be much more respectful of the horses. Lovely to watch and beautiful horses!

Those are beautiful strong beasts and they say they are gentle giants I wish I had the money to own one but with the costs of the pen and food and vet bills.

So if these horses weigh 2,000 pounds and run up to 25mph, then getting hit by one is like getting hit by a Toyota Tacoma at 15mph 💀💀💀💀

Shires have beautiful long thick tails; why they dont leave them loose in the shows makes no sense to me.

If you don't mind me asking, how long does it take to club his tail up like that? The braids and decoration. :)

I have a mini version of these!!!! (She is a cross breed with a shire, Throughbred and a welsh)

Does hair dye not work on horses or something? Why aren't there any neon green ones with ghost flames or racing stripes? I mean, they're decent looking horses, I guess, but a nice paint job would really put them over the top!

It’s the cost to keep them, not so much the cost to buy!

I think tail docking is a necessary evil, especially if the horse in question is used for driving. If I remember correctly, it's so that the tail doesn't get torn off in the equipment. Of course, you may correct me, and I will respect your opinion, but don't start fights.

Tails are not docked. The tail itself is not long but the hair is, and it can be clipped short for neatness, or braided, doubled up, and tied.

Any animal shampoo, then dry with sawdust (wood flour) and chalk powder just before taking them into the show ring
