I have both of them. The Puma is the more comfortable upper and a softer ride over the Adidas. The rocker on the Puma forefoot is not as aggressive as the Adidas, the Adidas has a more rolling ride. The Adidas is the faster shoe on threshold pace, on tempo pace they are equal, on recovery pace Puma wins hands down. They are both good shoes to have on rotation, although they accomplish the same purpose they offer different stimulus

I have both and can recommend them both (and I have MANY different running shoes) Boston if you want to go faster. Puma for more comfort but can definitely still pick up the pace and better for light trails.

Ordered boston 12 first, put them on but after trying it for a while I returned it. Why? Because they were too big with the size I normally use on other shoes. Also I was struggling to get them on my feet. After 2 months I ordered puma deviate nitro 2 as they were heavily discounted and I'm amazed by them. Easy to wear, very versatile and had a better grip on wood pathways than bostons.

… , they both dont have a carbon plate. Adidas has got rods. Puma has got a nylon, not a carbon plate

Based on what they say in their marketing, AND based on having handled the individual components in store, it's a plastic plate with carbon particles blended with the material. The Deviate Elite has the woven carbon fibers encased in some plastic, giving it more stiffness than the plastic and carbon powder composite in the standard Deviate Nitro.
