Patrice has been awesome for years and Karen, this is my first time hearing her. She's absolutely amazing and the two together are off the chain, over the top and whatever else I can think of to describe how incredible they are together. (lol)
This is in my favorites and I have to play it at least once a week. These women are unbelievable.......
At 5:57, I recognized this song as "Renaissance" a number on the Jean Luc Ponty album, "Aurora". On it Patrice played piano, synthesizer, and electric piano, and her participation made that song beautiful beyond description. That song is one of my favorite of all times because of the magic she brought to it. Jean Luc Ponty, in case nobody knows, is also an electric violinist. Karen Briggs is an out-of-this world musician as well, and I have loved her ever since she was with Yanni. I never missed one of those performances. It is wonderful to see these two artists together. If you've never her on "Aurora" holding it up on "Renaissance", highly suggest that you listen to it here on KZread. I play it over and over again, I can't get enough of hearing the magic she does on that song.
I'd love to see this woman play violin as Rachell Ferrell sang....and Patrice is too nice on that Piano. All 3 together would be a dream performance, don't you agree?
Return to Forever is my fav jazz ensemble of all time - anyone talented enough to play their level of complexity is awesome - kudos Patrice and Karen !
I love this Jean Luc Ponty piece. It is actually my favorite. Thanks Karen and Patrice! Nicely done.
No words can express the joy i just felt watching these two masters performance.
This is still my favorite video, keep shining, keep inspiring!

Awesome Recital Concert from Music Masters.....Thanks ...so Wonderful..
Hey I love both of them. Hey Jean Luc Ponty did this song too on one of his albums!!!!
i love both of these Queens!
For years our talent's where put aside, and not allowed to be heard, Now you see what you have held back, All people matter and have something to share with this world, don't let greed and pride prevent the next great thing to be left behind or delayed. Hate something we can live without. Love Never Fails.
AMAZING!! REAL ART!!
I saw this performance on cable years ago. I'm glad I found it here. Patrice playing Renaissance was the highlight of Jean-luc Ponty's Aurora album. I loved Karen's playing from the opening note of the Vertu album. This is an excellent performance.
Never tire of this live performance nor its inspiration, thank you! One love!
most beautiful!
Wow...thank u sooo much 4 the upload ~ muy bonita!!
I am so so in heaven with these two and I DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE.
I need more of their music!!
8:19pm central 7/9/23 This is an awesome rendition of Jean Luc Ponty! Bravo!
This entire song is called Renaissance written by Jean Luc Ponty in 1975 from his album "Upon the Wings of Music". Patrice Rushen played keyboards on that entire album. It was a Jazz fusion classic.
SO VERY BEAUTIFUL. I grew up on Patrice (baby fingers) Love you.

Patrice. Fender Rhodes Scholar. Jazz legend. Baby Fingers, we love you x
Woooah! Hi Karen! Nice to meet you!
Yeah, this is Patrice Rushen one of the best kepted secrets in Jazz. In the very early 70's she started out as a Jazz and Jazz-fusion piano prodigy, but because of her extreme vocal talents she went R&B and Pop by the later mid 70's. She can play, compose and play with the very best of them in the Jazz world. A lot, but not all audiences know her for her commercial recordings, but she can really play and write.
AWESOME MUSICIANS, AWESOME MUSICIANSHIP!!!!
This is just perfect!!!
was fortunate enough to see Patrice with Lee Ritenour this past Spring, and am aware of her great talent, however, this is my first view of Ms. Briggs, and I must say, she is amazing.
Just magnificent....seriously. I am in awe. Both have always been favorites of mine...I wish the media were saturated with their talent,so our children and posterity can know what it is to create MUSIC....I'm showing my kids this vid as we speak...
Lo mejor de lo mejor. Gracias por darnos la música.
my favorite EVER, GO Karen Briggs and Patrice Rushen GO
Great music, awesome performance. If you like this piece, also check the original version with Jean Luc Ponty, Al Di Meola and Stanley Clarke on their album The Rite of the Strings, this piece is called "Reinassaince". Thank you so much for the video.

Who's the violinist
She sounds alot like Jean Luc Ponty! I love "Rennaisance" by JLP, the 1st song that she played. Some of you might not know, but patrice Rushen did play the piano on the original with JLP back in 1975.
Also, those who know the work of Karen Briggs know that, by many, she is often considered the Queen of (the beginning of) hip-hop violin. You might be able to find some of her videos with Yanni on KZread.
beautiful
I normally hate it when people post comments about one musician being better than another. I love Karen but I got to give Samvel his props too. I just watched him today and I was blown away.
So Magnificent!
very nice is the best music.
I can definitely appreciate her right here!!! Tha lady is better than good.. . ♥
I AM KAREN'S BIG FAN AND I LOVE HER TOO!!
One Word; SUPERB!!!!
TWO OF THE MOST INCOMPARABLE LADIES ON THE PLANET MUSICALLY..I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEM IN CONCERT. I DON'T THINK I'LL EVER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY WITH EITHER OF THEM (OR BE WORTHY FOR THAT MATTER).

OMG THAT WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR ME TO HANDLE
Why don't these two record a CD together? Saw Karen @ the Kennedy cEnter's 'Women in Jazz' festival and she blew me away! And need I say anything at all about 'Baby Fingers'?
playing that classic jean-luc ponty cut, Aurora. Patrice played on the original.
That first cut is Jean-Luc Ponty/Stanley Clarke's.. Renaissance!
@ 15:30 , . . . "Send One Your Love". . . from another prodigy coming out of the 60s!
ahora te amo mas
If you like this check out "Rite if Strings" a partnership of Jean LucPonty Al DiMeola, and Stanley Clark.
Patrice let me know when your playing in LA Please :-)
Hmm. Now I must go check out those two brothers (Nuttin' But Strings) who competed on "America's Got Talent" a couple of years ago (but didn't win) and see if they have any videos uploaded!
This is amazing, when was it done, and what was the name of Jean Luc Ponty's album that this song came from? I know the song is called Aurora but the other songs on the original album have to be just as devine...
@ohemp that was cute...& I concur!
is like a song from jean luc ponty... did patrice rushen create the song?
Whats his name?
this song is from jean-luc ponty
