Produced by Trojan mainstay, Robert Thompson aka Dandy Livingstone, the Music Doctor's instrumental rendering of Mungo Jerry's 1970 summertime classic found favour among British reggae fans after their version saw release as a 7" single on Trojan's J-Dan subsidiary label.
The popularity of the recording, featuring top British-based reggae band, the Rudies, recording under one of their many aliases, swiftly led to the company to release a best-selling long-player of the same name.
