That's why I like the Thunderbolt designs, they all look like a cross between a cold war fighter jet and a commando. Something obviously mechanical, but also equipped to task like something out of a special tasks group.

Thunderbolt really did the design justice. They were always kind of laughable but they managed to make them into crazy goblin water commandos. I think the altered weapons is a big factor. They look much more specialist.

Since they're so much smaller than the normal Acguy, they could do a double set like they did for the Loto

It's interesting that the only other time the franchise made the Acguy threatening, 08th MS Team, did it in the completely opposite way. These guys are small, fast commandos with varied loadouts who work as a guerrilla team. The one 08th was a big, heavy bruiser designed for amphibious ambushes and close combat with a single multi-purpose weapon. Piranhas versus a snapping turtle.

08th MS didn’t redesign its mobile suits as much as TB. If they redesigned their suits like TB I imagine they would’ve used the Gogg for that, since that’s much more how it was portrayed in 79 Gundam. Thunderbolt’s Acguy’s are strangely a lot closer to those of the original than the one in 08th MS.

Acguy is often said to be a cute mobile suit in Japan. But using weapons is scary. I can't hide my surprise at the difference between the cute appearance.

The general design philosophy for Thunderbolt seems to be "strap a shitload of weapons and thrusters to the og designs" and I can't say I dislike it. Plus it looks like any new Origins content will follow that with the Cucuruz Doan's Island film outfitting mobile suits with shoulder cannons and missile pods.

Some small details I enjoyed: -The missile the Acguy fires at 1:18 seems to be wire-guided. The cables flying around confused me at first, but then I remembered that wire-guided missiles are a thing. -I'd like to point out that the GM at 1:37 is using a Heat Hawk! I'm not sure if many people noticed it when watching this video for the first time, but from what I've seen of Gundam it's not often you see a Mobile Suit pick up another MS's weapons, especially a opponent's (I'm very new to the fandom, just an FYI)

It's not a gm, it's a... zenny? I think? Though I also remember that the ssa call theres dahls. Point being it's a zaku that looks like and uses some parts of a gm, cause it was thrown together in someone's backyard with a box of scraps.

The Lore is that the Zanny was one of the federation's first ever mobile suits made from captured Zakus (which DID happen, you see a squad of captured Zakus in IGLOO), but the project had very little funding, resulting in the Zannys being extremely shoddy and simple, and any that made it out were really just used for testing and training stuff. The Zanny design and name originates from an old 1996 PC game for a really old system. Why it's called the Dahle in the anime is something I'm not sure about, maybe it's copyright stuff.

I love how Thunderbolt turned the Acguy into a early Jesta :D

This is how Zeon should have fought. With types and variants of mobile suits meant for specific roles to compliment each other. Not as a hodge podge of random wunderwaffe. Even if some designs honestly were damn good wonder weapons and even produced in good numbers, to be fair.

I love this Fireteam concept and would love to see the EFF equivalent!

It's an alternate timeline with a slightly more competent version of Zeon. Also, these are special forces variants of the Acguy; Zeon typically has an obsession with custom variants and ace pilots. They'd rather spend a ton of resources and capital producing a handful of ultra-high-end specialist Mobile Suits to be given to a small number of high-end pilots then actually produce numbers that could win the war -- and that's before they lost Odessa, and not figuring in their gross misunderstanding of Earth geography and tactics.

ハッチ閉める前に水流れてくるとか、不具合でちゃんと閉まらなかったら怖いよねと思った。

サンダーボルトのMSの戦闘は、ファーストの時代には自分ではあまりそぐわないと思う高速のトンでも戦闘ばかりだけど、このアッガイとダーレ(ザニー？)の戦闘は、重量感と重機独特の鈍さがあり、マシンガンの弾道(曳光弾使用はおかしいとかあるが)やミサイルの軌道とも併せて、リアルロボットの戦闘描写でも飛び抜けて良いと思う。

I’m usually a little eh when it comes to some of Thunderbolt’s redesigns of the amphibious mobile suits (namely the Gogg) but I absolutely adore these Acguys. They add so much badassery to them whilst keeping the goofy (and honestly cute) design spirit of the OG.

Biggest crime is that finding the series is impossible. I watched I think 1 or 2 episodes and of course the movie. I love this type of gritty-real-war-vibe of gundam/mobile suit action and not that twink stuff (gundam wing was ok when I first saw it as a kid but no way I can watch it now, I just ffw to the fights)

プラモデルの説明に「超鋼スチール」とあります。自分も仕事で超鋼のキリを使いますが何回か使うと研がなくては切れません。ジムはチタン合金なのに簡単に破壊されるの意味がわからない。でもアッガイは一番好きなモビルスーツです。

Beside Thunderbolt being in a alternate UC timeline, Zeon during the OYW was investing a lot of resources from Earth into Space. Losing the Odessa mining base caused the Zeon Earth forces to be cut from their main supply line and started a massive escape back into space. Zeon due to lack of understanding Earth geographics , invested in making a naval force instead of strengthening an air force where most of the Federation rule the skies along with having a steady supply line. Eventually aquatic MS development reach a halt when Zeon started abandoning Earth.

@@sirbachelorboredmen1314nah the war started in space. Zeon wiped the federation forces in the battle of Loum. After that they invade Earth while the federation was on there heels playing catch-up with ms development. In the Uc timeline the one world government is the federation.

idk why they omitted these things being capable of a beam saber despite being smaller than a GM.

I think Zeon's Gelgoog are the only MS capable of wielding beam weapon. Acguy's reactor is probably less powerful than Gelgoog and that Gelgood was developed much later with the intended of wielding beam weapon in the first place. Acguy was developed much earlier than that.
