I love that you talk just like us here in N.E Georgia. Love this story. My grandmother, who passed on at 100 years old, told me many stories. One was about an Irish slave girl, named Emma. She was our kinfolk. It's a mighty heart breaking story. I cherish all of her memories and life experiences she shared with me. May she R.I.P. 🙏🙏🙏

My Granny was born in 1900 and died in 2001. She saw saw many amazing changes in this world. I loved her stories of growing up in the mountains of KY. Jared talks like my mountain family does too. Especially my Daddy. He n Mama have passed on too. So it's wonderful to hear.

It’s not just the story itself, but the language used, the tone, the vocabulary, the accent, and “things like ‘at.” The narrator must know the story really well, because his speech must be so much like hers that he may be her cousin, her once-boyfriend, even her twin brother. Beautiful old timey language from them thar hills!

No, I ain’t from the beautiful Ozarks but that’s alright because mountain folk are the same no matter what mountains they are from and we all love tales whether it be true or a tall tale. It kindled memories of my Grandparents raised in the mountains of N.C. and sharing a story about someone "different", even in those days. Born in 1965, known then as a "bastard child"(in those days, it was unheard of to have a child out of wedlock which these days is the common practice😢) In 1971 my Grandmother who I stayed the most time with in my first 10 years of my life, she knew of such "gifts from God" given to "special people". She sit me down after many unexplained and fearfully accurate "preminitions", pulled me up onto her lap and held me lovingly and told me that what I had was a gift from God and not to tell anyone because they would deem me crazy, as my mom, as a "new age" woman did and didn't believe it either and thru time, beat it out of me, I reckon. Cause they stopped until I was in my own home and in my 20's, they returned but I never told anyone because of the ridicule of non believers. I sense evil in people and that is the worst feeling a person can have thrown into them! And I do all I can to stay away from those people, all but my mom. I love her as God loves me, no matter what she did or does, I'll always be there for her. I can't tell you how much peace and joy this video brought to my heart and the wonderful memories of my Grandparents and I sitting on that little front porch of their loving home. God rest Miss Jeans soul in the Lord's eternal presence❤

I have it too. I have to be alone. Being around people for too long, makes me so anxious. I love our little log home back up in the woods. I take care of our lifestock, I garden and can and quilt. I have to be outside in nature to be truly at peace.

Oh my.. I'm crying. She was a wonderful woman and I know how it feels. I've been single since 1998. I scared my last husband so bad... He couldn't understand how I knew everything that had happened that day. I forgot myself and lost my temper. Never should have confronted him.

What a great story the mountains where my wife grew up is about gone the old church has fell in. There are old graves all up thru them hills.It’s sad to go up there but I had fond memories of them mountains.I would like to go back there and live but but to old now. That's something that's lost a lot these days you guns don't have the respect for their elders like we did when young much respect to this lady that has passed God Bless her 🙏 these are the folks that have a lot of history to tell can teach youguns a lot especially today given the way things are going I greatly appreciate you taking l the steps going way out of your way to bring us this history and telling her story may she be standing smiling happy next to our father and his son what a wonderful person hope her dog had a happy loved and good life after her passing may they both rest easy in heaven Amen Brother what an outstanding piece of history

Hi Jared! I remembered you saying that this was a very special witch story but I also didn't hear one bit of creepiness or forboding in your voice. That's unusual for a witch tale so I made sure to wait until I had time to listen to it very carefully. I'm glad I did. This is possibly the coolest story about a person that I've ever heard. She wasn't afraid of what God gave her and learned to embrace who she was rather than fear or hate herself for being different. Jean Wallace was truly a woman of grace, wisdom, God and respect. @@JaredKingTV actually, I think it's throwback to the old country. About 85% of the Appalachian settlers were originally from Scotland, Ireland or the Scotch-Irish (same places, different time period). There, you have white witches and black witches. White witches were the healers, midwives and gifted like Jean Wallace and black witches were those that dealt in the dark, evil ways. I think those ideas continued when they settled in the mountains and are still common language in all three places today. The colors were dropped to just being a 'witch' along the way but the local folk knew who was good and who you didn't go near!

It's ok Patricia, thank you so so much for the kind words 😊💙🙏. In her final days she was trying to make a fire to keep warm using Kerosene and the whole jug caught fire and sadly and tragically burns the home and her inside. She only left behind enough money to bury herself. The community came together and gave her a beautiful funeral with lots of friends and locals that knew her. Hope that helped with the ending. My family came from the Ozark’s I have old tin type photos one of my gram paw Warshing his cloths on a warsh board and a wood tub. Some of them with him and a bunch of men on a horse drown wagon.Have photo of him on a foot ball team early 1900’s Lawrence county .Thanks for your good stories!!!!!!

Great Grandma on my mom's side lived in a Cabin like Ms Wallace. Well to draw water, no electricity we went to visit in 1965 or so when I was 5 and I remember her sewing on her Singer Pedal sewing machine

Yes it was survival I couldn't kill a animal maybe fish or bird that woulda been a hard life to live I cut wood logs as a girl in Portland oregon now I'm old dont do it anymore took care of ma y .en men sad hard work km

Thank you for telling Miss Jean's story. I live in Tucson. I have mostly been a desert dweller in my life, except for a decade in Texas and a year in LA. I really enjoyed the pictures and your voice, and just the history and strength of Miss Jean. WOW! I love her.
