Excellent video. Tough to find anything on Conrail in the coal region!

Never knew Conriail was servicing the coal region back in the late 80's on the former Reading.

Funny how 32 years later everything but the power looks virtually the same. Loved this video, subscribed.

Loved the big Blue operations in the coal region. I've subscribed to the channel. Keep this coming. Any video of rail operations/traffic from Shamokin to Trevorton along Rt 61 which was Reading rails? That would be awesome 👍!

This is a fantastic video! Was very curious to see stuff before the R&N, loved those GP10's and pups screaming with those trains!

Liked, favorited, and subscribed. This is great stuff. I've been casually familiar with the Reading and the Reading & Northern for a while, but ever since I rode the Hopper Jet excursion (I can't believe it's been nearly 2 years already), I've been seeking out more videos from the area, especially the CR and if I can find any, the RDG years. Keep 'em coming.

I miss Conrail, but maybe it's better than private railroads (like Reading and Northern, and Norfolk Southern) own the rails in eastern PA than the federal government, which is what Conrail was, similar to Amtrak except from 1983 on Conrail was freight only. They shed the commuter services with state agencies taking full responsibility for them in January, 1983. Freight was more profitable. But, the R&N ownership of the ex-Reading, Conrail coal lines means that they can run excursion trains on those lines any time they want. As well as the Lehigh division north of Jim Thorpe, ex-LV and CNJ rails.

they would be neat to see. That's for sure being that there is vary little out there covering varied lesser known lines that Conrail had before being sold off.
