People don’t realize how big the game of basketball really is in the Philippines. When I went to Manila.. there was literally a basketball tournament happening in every neighborhood.

There is one legendary neighbourhood basketball field, the tenement - even some NBA players visited it because they love basketball there in this project and have great artists who design the field

It's a well known fact that basketball is big in the Philippines so to say that "people don't realize how big the game of basketball is in the Philippines" is wrong. In fact almost every hooper who visits the country says they know how big the sport is in the Philippines.

You got your sentence wrong. It should be the game of basketball is being played it places you wouldn’t imagine it would be. Basketball in the Philippines has been very big, known fact na yan matagal na

FYI po, ang mga tenement kasi ay isang uri ng pabahay para sa mga low income people pero not necessarily na mahirap. So parang mga ghetto sa US, kaya dyan sila napunta.

I love how global basketball is, and that pretty much everyone knows that 99.9% of us cannot play like NBA players, but they inspire us to have fun and experiment with style. Wherever you are, all you need is a court and a ball. You can even practice on your own, play one-on-one with just one other player, play 21 or H-O-R-S-E, get a game of 2x2, 3x3, or a full 5x5 game. The sport can scale up or down to match the number of players and level of play, and it moves quickly.

The Philippines arguably is the most passionate to a point fanatical basketball country in the world. Everyone plays here barefoot, slippers, shoes and in the streets, dirt, grass, etc. Basketball spaces are even neutral grounds for army troopers and rebels to unwind on Sundays. It is very common in fiestas in local villages/municipalities that someone gets knifed after a game of basketball whether a player or a fan. The Philippines vs Australia "basketbrawl" was nothing compared to local fiesta game riots.

70 percent of the friends i made in America when i migrated from the Philippines were made through basketball. It's so sad today's youth don't have that physical bond yet proud of their faceless online friend playing CoD.

This is a very accurate representation of the Philippines' love for basketball. Basketball is literally everywhere in the Philippines. I remember that when I was little, my Mom would always take me to a basketball game during fiesta celebrations. It's crazy how everyone cheers, even during outdoor games in the middle of scorching sun.
