People don’t realize how big the game of basketball really is in the Philippines. When I went to Manila.. there was literally a basketball tournament happening in every neighborhood.

There is one legendary neighbourhood basketball field, the tenement - even some NBA players visited it because they love basketball there in this project and have great artists who design the field

It's a well known fact that basketball is big in the Philippines so to say that "people don't realize how big the game of basketball is in the Philippines" is wrong. In fact almost every hooper who visits the country says they know how big the sport is in the Philippines.

You got your sentence wrong. It should be the game of basketball is being played it places you wouldn’t imagine it would be. Basketball in the Philippines has been very big, known fact na yan matagal na

FYI po, ang mga tenement kasi ay isang uri ng pabahay para sa mga low income people pero not necessarily na mahirap. So parang mga ghetto sa US, kaya dyan sila napunta.
As an igorot, i'd like to appreciate featuring our tribes. Basketball has been there ever since I was a kid, I used to watch our local basketball sport here in the Philippines (PBA). Seeing that basketball has been there during my ancestor's time makes it more special. Thank you!

I love how global basketball is, and that pretty much everyone knows that 99.9% of us cannot play like NBA players, but they inspire us to have fun and experiment with style. Wherever you are, all you need is a court and a ball. You can even practice on your own, play one-on-one with just one other player, play 21 or H-O-R-S-E, get a game of 2x2, 3x3, or a full 5x5 game. The sport can scale up or down to match the number of players and level of play, and it moves quickly.
Tribal fusion with the western world! Simply impressive! Thanks for featuring the Philippines
Our very own Igorot brothers just been featured in a NBA channel. Wow!Basketball crazed pinoys of varied culture from the city slums to the mountains. ❤🙌

The Igorots of the Mountain Province are known for their warrior culture and headhunting practices. Just think of that when he said they play a rugged and physical game -- its on another level! Heck, there are money games in the streets of PH where the only rule is "No Blood, No Foul" and that's beside the fact that most street games are played bare footed or with slippers./

The Philippines arguably is the most passionate to a point fanatical basketball country in the world. Everyone plays here barefoot, slippers, shoes and in the streets, dirt, grass, etc. Basketball spaces are even neutral grounds for army troopers and rebels to unwind on Sundays. It is very common in fiestas in local villages/municipalities that someone gets knifed after a game of basketball whether a player or a fan. The Philippines vs Australia "basketbrawl" was nothing compared to local fiesta game riots.
Thank u, NBA. Proud to be a Filipino.

Thank you NBA for doing this, showing our tradition and culture to world, this means a lot for us. Our country really loves playing basketball even most of us are lacking in height, we used to play in the middle of the daylight even its hot, we call ourselves “Solar Boys”, we used to play in barefoot sometimes we call it “naka adidas na shoes 😅”, and whatever reasons, most of the time we used to say “Ball is Life!” because we always find ways to play basketball. You have lot of things to discover in our country specially the sports of basketball, and you can count on us that we will support the sports (the NBA). Proud Pinoy here!
