Hillclimbing is one of the most popular forms of motorsport. Drivers compete against the clock, over a tarmac course, typically around 1 to 1.5 kilometres long.
It attracts a whole range of cars, from road-going saloons to specialised single-seater racing cars.
The British Hillclimb Championship is the pinnacle of the sport, with over 150 drivers tackling 14 events around the UK, including Northern Ireland and Channel Islands.
The contest for the title of British Hillclimb Champion is dominated by powerful race cars, with reigning champion Wallace Menzies driving a Gould single-seater powered by a 3.3-litre Cosworth engine designed for the Indy racecar series in the USA.
The BHC Cup runs alongside the main championship and is fought out between a wide range of cars, all running in classes of similar type of vehicles, from road-going saloons all the way through to specialised single-seater race cars.
