The Motorsport Brief: SVG answers your questions

Спорт

It’s our first chance to talk to Shane van Gisbergen since his big switch from Supercars to NASCAR, and it’s clear he’s loving this new chapter immensely.
Thank you to everyone who responded on social media to our call for questions, including those who put their best radio voices on and sent in audio. While we couldn’t get to all your questions in the time Trackhouse Racing kindly gave us, we covered most of the recurring themes.
Shane provides great insights on how wild the cars feel on ovals, drifting and burnouts in a NASCAR, his potential plans for more Sprintcar racing, the advice he's received from legends on both sides of the pond, and whether he would consider an Indy 500 wildcard like Kyle Larson did this year.
Although we didn’t discuss his now-trademark celebration of kicking a footy into the crowd, we love how SVG is bringing some Kiwi rugby roots to the United States and making his mark!

If Shane feels more comfortable in Cup Car on the ovals I'm very excited if the Cup ride works out next year.. Also explains the forward momentum he got during that one Oval race, albeit no one trusted him in any of his runs forward and hung him out to dry. Cool chat, thanks. DOING GREAT SVG

This was an excellent listen. Rusty you are brilliant. SVG bloody love watching you be happy and adapting to life in the USA. I never thought I would be counting down the days to watch the next NASCAR race but I’m bloody loving it

I am an Aussie but I couldn’t be more proud of what SVG is doing in the states. I get up every weekend in the early hours of the morning to watch him practice and qualify and race. I just want to know when they’re gonna give him a car that doesn’t have mechanical problems. Since he won in Chicago, it seems like every car they give him his some kind of mechanical problem that stops him from winning the race.

Likewise. Watched every lap surveying the totem pole and pit lane to make sure everything is going well. Full commitment when half the race is ads (WTF). Can’t wait for Chicago.

Great job, Thrusta. You ask the right questions, and you do it respectfully, and get the answers we want. Much appreciated! Shane, you've re-invigorated my love of motorsport this year. Best wishes, mate! Also, Happy Matariki from Oz.

Hopefully if he get into Cup he might drop Xfinity Ovals and do some Wildcards or Co-drive in Supercars... Maybe Nascar vs Supercars Wildcards...

Can I stress that NASCAR is pronounced as naScar not NAZZZCAR. I seem to be one of very few Aussies that say it correctly. Great interview tho

🤣🤣 who cars its mostly called crashcars. Winning on a oval is a lottery barely comes down to the actual fastest car/driver winning
