The Most Unhinged Cartoon Series Disney Has Ever Made

Ойындар

Remember those Mickey Mouse shorts you saw on KZread and Disney Channel? Here's a video about them!
Wasn’t sure where to put it in the video but did you know that was going to be a short inspired by Runaway Brain, but got scrapped since it was too early to make Mickey feral?

    0:13 I think it's because Bugs, Spongebob, and Mario have personalities and identities outside of being mascots. Mickey is also a lot more synonymous with Disney, since his head is literally the logo. Disney's nefarious actions also involve Mickey himself; like lobbying the US Congress to keep their exclusive ownership over him.

  • @victoriabell9546

    @victoriabell9546

    Well, to be more specific, the **Disney Channel* logo is the one that has Mickey's head as its shape. The Disney logo is more recognized by its iconic lettering from the mid 1980's to now.

    That's not really the case, Mickey DOES have a personality and identity outside of being a mascot. There's plenty of shorts, series and Movies showing us that. People on the internet tend to forget that, and picture him as the greedy leader of a creativelly bankrupt company, when in fact he's a character with dreams, personality and his own identity.

  • @TheMainOne.

    @TheMainOne.

    2 ай бұрын

    Yeah no, I'd say Mickey has more of a personality than Mario. Even then that doesn't excuse the total character assassination that Mickey gets around on the internet with him being betrayed as an evil corporate mascot solely because he's the most iconic character within Disney's lineup but that doesn't mean he should be held accountable for Disney's greedy and horrible actions because then by that logic I could just make SpongeBob's entire personality him being a greedy soulless corporate boss because that's exactly what Nickelodeon is right now but that wouldn't be right because that's not SpongeBob's actual characterization. Do you know how many people don't like Mickey because they actually believe he's a corporate greedy, selfish, mean-spirited character?

    @@martintobar7966 I blame South Park for that depiction of Mickey as a greedy, corporate, heartless (no pun intended) hack who just wants money. People just don't like separating the art from the artist, or in this case, the character from the company.

  • @yeeyeeyeeye

    I agree with you there about Disney's actions being more tied to Mickey. The copyright law they lobbied for to keep ownership of him is literally nicknamed "The Mickey Mouse Protection Act." You don't see Warner Brothers Discovery or Paramount lobbying congress for laws that only benefit them in the name of Bugs Bunny or SpongeBob.

    While it’s unfortunate that this series ended… I’m at the point where I’m kinda glad it did ONLY BECAUSE I feel like it began and ended on a high note. The greedy executive suits running the rest of Disney into the ground never got the chance to sink their teeth into the creative process, and that’s why the show shines as bright as it does. I do wish this show would have reshaped the fab 5 permanently. They’re so much more rounded as characters in this series, and less like the mascots the suits currently running Disney would prefer.

    The best I can describe the Mickey Mouse series is the closest thing we will ever have to a modernized version of the 1920s-1930s animations. Back when animation wasn’t just for kids and was for everyone’s equal entertainment. It kept the classic formula, balancing the line between “unhinged” (and/or unpredictable) and comical.

Also uses watercolor/stop motion backgrounds and keeps that line between unhinged and comical like Mickey Mouse 2013.

    This is legitimately one of my favorite versions of Mickey Mouse. I adore the watercolor-inspired backgrounds, I love that both Mickey and Minnie have actual personalities and lives outside of each other, the animation is nice and snappy, and I love that this iteration of Mickey is the most faithful to his personality/shorts from the 1930’s (if you thought these shorts were unhinged, then you need to see his original shorts; they were just as unhinged). Paul Rudish also worked on The Cuphead Show on Netflix, which is basically these Mickey Mouse shorts but longer, and with Cuphead and Mugman. In case you want more unhinged rubberhose modern cartoons.

    5:49 I’m surprised you never mentioned the funniest part of that episode. That’s Nguyen believes that the spooky noise out in the woods is just a squirrel, only for Zombie Goofy to reveal himself. The squirrel then screams like a girl, and runs away, but then walks back slowly to pick up his acorn with such a deadpan emotion ,then screams like a girl again, but walk back slowly this time, with that deadpan face. This by far was the most funniest thing ever animated, and I’m surprised nobody has made a 10 hour repeat of that scene.

When I was watching the short where Mickey loses his ears, I was watching it on a computer in my elementary school's computer lab and when everything became silent and muted when Mickey's ears blew away, I thought there was a problem with the computer's audio, it took me a long time to figure out it was part of the short.

    This series truly felt like it’s where 95% of OG Disney’s passion went. Corporate greed, and soulless executives is what took over their animated and live action FILM departments (from Disney, to Pixar, to Lucasfilm, and even Marvel). This series, however, remained untouched, and unstained by the disconnected suits running Disney (likely because they assumed it was mindless entertainment for children, and didn’t feel the need to get involved with the creative process). This series was an incredible breath of fresh air! The fab 5 were written 3 dimensionally, with so much more personality to love. The comedy and the animation was so infectious, I still binge watch the series frequently. This is by far my favorite version of Mickey (followed closely by Wayne Allwine’s King Mickey from Kingdom Hearts, and of course Walt Disney’s classic Mickey). Chris Diamantopoulos is insanely talented, and to me, he’s the definitive modern Mickey. The guy can scream, sing, and gravel his voice, ALL WHILE maintaining that high Mickey pitch. Genuinely insane talent! I have nothing against Bret Iwan… but Chris should be the MAIN voice of Mickey.

    Honestly, I think that there is a range to Mickey that I think needs to be contrasted with the world around him. The more morally good and intelligent he is, the more he has to work against those who are evil or to inspire those who are flawed like his friends. If he is not all knowing and/or all good, then everyone around him must be good enough to make up for or to show the comedy in his shortcomings. Good Mickey is inspirational, Bad Mickey is hilarious. Anything else is just Mickey Mouse.

    This is why I love Mickey and why this is my favourite Disney series. It perfectly encapsulates what Mickey Mouse is truly about. Mickey in this is not the representation of a greedy billion-dollar company or some pre-school mascot. He is a modern interpretation of what Walt always intended him to be... A character.

    This is what reignited my love with Mickey Mouse. This is Mickey at his core, not the money hungry greedy rat persona the internet has created for him. It's very Looney Tunes, which is ironic because Mickey and friends came waay before Bugs and his pals. The best part is that you can literally pick up any episode and enjoy it.

    I freakin' love these rendition of modern Mickey shorts. It's chaotic, but clever chaotic. Not like the later modern seasons of Spongebob where everything is so fast paced and every character does random meme-like faces every time they react to something. No. More like, the golden age of Cartoon Network clever chaotic. As in, during the late 90s and early 2000s. Those were the days man. But not really surprising since the modern Mickey shorts has Paul Rudish in its involvement. This guy has been involved in GOAT classics such as Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack. Not to mention the modern Mickey shorts also has a quite the number of adult and graphic jokes. Even gore to some extent, disguised around a series of kid-friendly visuals. Which is also a staple of golden era cartoons. It's just so~ good.

    @@ryanb4940 It ain't about that. Although *I'm* curious as to why I would have lost credibility about the LGBTQIA+ argument. My issues stem from four things in particular: 1. Record lows of recent films, as they are all Disney cares about these days. 2. General lack of care or empathy for employees (as seems to be common with conglomerates), for who knows how long. 3. Malicious copyright abuse, denying even children to use the characters (Recall the Mickey Mouse daycare trial, and the Spider-Man gravestone refusal for the child that died.). 4. Shady business decisions through the making of their media, and my mind goes straight to using North Korean internment camps for filming Mulan 2019, on top of thanking the North Korean government for its usage (in the credits).
