I LOVE LOVE this series so much. I am a Sims player that held on to the Sims 1 with her grubby little hands and did not play another version till Sims 4 (!!!!). I have so much affection for the OG, and hearing other people talk about is fantastic (plus, I'm learning about features I didn't even hear about in all my years playing!!).

You haven't played Sims 2?! You were really missing out. I'm a Sims 1 stan for life but in terms of the sequels, 2 is the greatest of all. I would highly recommend giving it a go.

Fun fact: in 2003 Maxis released the official soundtrack for the sims superstar on the official websites, and it featured all the full length versions of the karaoke songs + the buy/build mode tracks (they are still available somewhere on YT and on the web). the soundtrack also came with a lyric booklet. this was the tracklist: 1.Superstar Theme 2. Superstar is timeless indeed... that classic Hollywood style never gets old. They did so well with music and decorations, definitely the best "downtown" region in Sims 1. Now I want to play again :D

I'm such a Sims Superstar stan. They've NEVER done it justice in the later installments. This expansion pack is just *chefs kiss* Also you UNLOCKED a memory with Glabe Glarn. I used to know all of the singles by HEART. The jingles too!!!

Yay! Finally, The Superstar expansion review! I absolutely agree that it was a magnificent mish mash of the classical Hollywood and the modern era. I remember, I was OBSESSED with getting all the trophies and getting rid off the competition (often by making them fall in love with my sim via magic spell, so I usually ended up having an entire harem of the celebs, not really knowing what to do next with them, lol). I think the main factor which drove me to this pack was it's concept of the open career since it was so fascintating to follow my sims durning their work time and micromanaging every single thing, so this pack and TS2: Open for Business are my ultimate faves from the entire franchise. Looking forward to your Makin' Magic review! I still think that it had the most engaging magic system throughout all TS games.

Wholeheartedly agree with this take! I am a one-sim-at-a-time micro manager in play style and this pack and Open for Business are perfect for that!

The way I played with this pack so much my CD became super scratched haha! There was just so much gameplay. I considered it an achievement back then when the Obsessed Fan showed up, like omgg I’m so fame! The way I was grinding my skill points too because getting more stars was sooo hard. I think the only pack I played more was Makin‘ Magic so I‘m looking forward to see your video on that!

Adore the fact somebody is taking the time to review these GEMS. I remember being young and going to studio town and editing the lots so I could dance along to the music in my kitchen when nobody was home, old sims was truly lightening in a bottle and this is just the absolute apex of what the franchise was back in the day. I had no clue being friends with the anybodies kept the obsessed fan away! Such a clever mechanic, I also loved how there were items that were added bonus content if you had addition expansion packs like the black roses. The aesthetics of this pack also have aged so so well imho You are my new favourite youtuber by far! I Cant wait for the Makin' Magic review. Bone Hilda is an icon!!! Keep up the good work!

I’ve always loved the fact your Sim actually appears in the stories in the tabloid. Makes it feel as if your Sim actually has an impact on local pop culture.

Supericonic expansion pack, even as an adult it's still hard for me to get past the pop up events during the recording sessions, combining the long sessions with the fast decaying needs my sim would never exit the 3 stars threshold. Just once I made it into fashion runway but it was a mess and got demoted back to 3 stars haha

I just adore you and your videos about Sims 1. you're so passionate about this game just like me lol. Superstar is definitely my favorite expansion pack of all time since I was a kid and still is until these days. every single detail about this game was perfectly created, from the Nobody's & Somebody's, the rise for the fame process/status/awards, Studio Town itself and even spas, restaurants, NPCs and their unique styles, moves and voices. plus Christina Aguilera and Avril Lavigne are my favorite singers so it added a lot of personal value for me too. I can play this one for hours like it's the first time and I'm 25!!!!! well I will contain my never-ending exciment and congratulate you again for the vid. keep going girl ;)

Perfect job reviewing this one, once again. I loved every single aspect of superstar, starting with the huge challenge it presented to me down to the karaoke songs at the beginning of a career. YES!! This pack would crack me up because of the multiple rejection animations for each of the Studio Town sets. Sims singing badly and getting booed or sneaking onto the runway and getting yelled at was freaking hilarious

The show-business career activities in this game are so fun, I think it has a lot more replayability than the acting career in Sims 4. And yes, I will forever blame Avril Lavigne for us not getting a fame pack for Sims 2, I bet it would have been iconic :(

A wonderful expansion ✨ I remember how difficult it was for me to figure out how to win the Sim Choice Award. Another curious fact is that they implemented the television antenna, where you can see more channels such as sports, entertainment, animals, etc., and on the entertainment channel you can hear the jingles that they record in the Studio Town 🤭

I cannot tell you how many times I would reload Studio Town map to find the song that you first use in this video! It's my absolute favorite!! 😍 The original Sims games are on another level. Just amazing!!

Superstar wouldn’t be my favourite expansion for TS1 (mostly because the rewards didn’t feel proportional, and it really laid bare the fact that sim needs were tuned around them being at work/school most of the day so they get very low very quickly), but it was still iconic and the best representation of celebrity culture we’ve had in a Sims game. The star system was a very clever way of mapping a new progression onto the existing career system without it feeling the same. I also love how much this pack meshes with Makin’ Magic in more senses than just The Price of Fame. By focusing on Body, Charisma, and Creativity skills (all of which make total sense in the context), it paved the way for MM to use Cooking, Logic, and Mechanical skills.

Ahhhh Superstar is also my favorite!! I've been looking forward to this video, great coverage :)

Another great review❣ Oddly enough, I place this expansion pack nearer to the bottom, even though I am a fan of its content and gameplay. Being an extreme introvert, trying to elevate star levels, just gave me so much anxiety. If course, you have not covered my favorite pack yet, so I am excited to see your perspective. With that said, my sister (artist, singer, and cosplayer), found this pack to be the best of all in TS1, and the best celebrity pack of the entire mainline series. I have to admit though, I do love the wide array of celebrities that the game implemented. Personally, although not a true celebrity system, I prefer TS2:AL's reputation system, which does offer many of the same perks as all the other systems of fame, but instead dealt more with social class elements (with the positive and negative extremes, fitting more to the celebrity system). I suppose, I most dislike the paparazzi (especially in TS3:LN), and the obsessive fan (TS1:S), for the reasons I described originally. To be fair, anyone that wants a real challenge, I do think TS1:S offers the most difficult challenge of any other Sim Series DLC (or spinoffs), to date. It is Super hard to achieve 5⭐ celebrity status. Of course, TS1 is challenging in itself just to survive, but that is just part of its overall charm, and why us Sim veterans still go back and play it (at least that is why I still play it)❣

I love to hear these takes! My rankings are mostly vibes-based and I think personality-wise this pack really really suits me (and it's honestly why I kicked Unleashed to the bottom of the list despite all its features)!

@@k-rce Although, I would not place TS1:U near the top (for me it is higher than TS1:S), it came out shortly after we lost our first pet, so while it is not the best in TS1, it suited our need best, in its timing. With that said, I completely understand anyone's rank placement, especially since if we all agreed with the rankings of our favorites, we would not get any diversity moving forward. I do think how difficulty challenging TS1:S was/is, might be the reason TS2:AL took its elements in a different direction. Of course, that also caused severe backlash as well, hence its successors adding a celebrity system pack thereafter (never reaching Superstar's level of Fame). Did you ever play The Urbz? To me, that was a quirky and fun way to play a celebrity system, even though its difficulty curve does not reach the level of TS1:S, imo.

The only modification I ever use to make my life easier, is hacked versions of the fashion runway, music video, and film sets, so that they allow 3 chances to select the right choice sequence instead of 2. Everything else, I'd say, had been perfectly balanced to make it as challenging as clawing your way up the celebrity hierarchy should be.

Ooooh a new video, yay!! Love this series of yours. I remember I was REALLY struggling to gain the star levels when I played this. I "cheated" a bit because I was better at the makin' magic expansion, and in that EP you could craft a charm that gives a sim instantly four stars! That's the only way I've succeeded with this EP even though it was one of my faves.

Girl, what a great filmmaker you are! Your videos are so well done!! Impossible to not be a superstar making good content like that

This was my favorite expansion for TS1. 11 year old me would blast the buy mode soundtrack near-full volume driving my parents insane lol 😂 I still listen to Botox Forever and 8x10 Glossy once in a while, nothing says nostalgia attack like some good old-fashioned Sims 1 music

I never had Superstar growing up so haven't spent as much time with it, but I think I'm going to give the career a go for sure after watching this. I love this series of Sims 1 reviews! Superstar is my favourite expansion pack of The Sims 1 by far. Rather than just focusing on the acting career, it has everything. It does frankly have the same amount of depth - if not more so than Sims 4! Even how crazy fans behave is better implemented, with the occasional potent crazed fan encounter versus all the townies passing out. :D

@@k-rce When I remembered in your video that Superstar had Spa's my mouth dropped. It's been interesting to see how the game dev sacrificed this kind of ideology of "Sitcom TV" aesthetic for their games when it is uniquely their own and NO ONE can copy that, but because they were a monopoly they did go a more generic route for Sims 4. I wonder how quickly they try to re-embrace and re-capture this magic once there's competition life simulators. The music of Superstar also just hits different! All the Sims 1 pack music has this confidence in the theme and world it is in and makes it so much more immersive.
