For "Study Study", that may not mean the literal meaning of study appearing twice. It likely refers to "letting you learn" (and additionally that might not be a Japanese level name at all).

i don't see how パクパク is even in question. パックン is the japanese term for a piranha plant or muncher. (you distinguish them by specifying green or black.) i would translate the full course title as "mystery munch planet".

I think this run is showing how good of a mario player ryu actually is.

Bigmouth Strikes Again is a song by the british band The Smiths. Somehow the feel of the song fits the level quite well - if you play it on top of it.

I literally felt so many emotions in this part. I felt the sheer happiness from Ryu from each and every clutch moment. The stress with close calls from enemies from above. The relief when all was hopeless. You, sir Ryu, are a master at your craft.

some of ryu's sightreads on these speedrun levels just leave me totally speechless. dude is a god

@@peterashworth5875 I decided that thab while technically stronger isn’t as opportunistic as ryu or as good at sifting through jank. Both have their pluses I guess but could see things breaking for Thab and getting a similar or better run for sure

@@cmorinster You could be right. I started wondering why RYU does so well despite being shaky with shell tricks, and I think you hit the nail on the head. "Opportunistic" is a great way to describe it. Like how he found the cheese in the speedrun level in this video. Totally missed it until he took the jump.

@@cmorinster Thab is insane. Ryu ist pretty good for sure, but if Thab would get these exact same levels I bet he would still sit around 15+ lives. But you might have a point that Ryus hot garbage intuition gives him an edge of some of those levels.

Dude... do you have the unedited video? Thab said his record was of 34 iirc. The world record is higher, but that is a beautiful number and it needs to be submitted.

This was the most buttclencher run ever so far, not counting those Butt Clencher levels from some time back. Now I gotta go find them. But here, HERE, we had plot, a story, characters to root for, emotional trauma and relief, a hero's journey and quest, epic showdowns and battles, incredible luck bestowed by the video game gods, and the skills to take advantage of the opportunities. This is the making of a myth to be talked about for ages to come.
