Have you guys tried this product before? I think there’s some potential for sure, but man does it sure kick up some dirt and rocks!

I would get some rubber matting or mud flaps and make a guard to keep those rocks down in Subdivisions.

We use it and love it! We generally only have to break it out on a property once a month and we string maintain the rest of the time. DO NOT use on muddy edges, trust me lol.

Also, to beat the shallow issue I have my string man knock it back before I come through with the blade. You would think that would take longer, but it actually speeds the process up quite a bit.

I've had one for a few years and it's still going strong. I bought an extra one and still haven't needed it. It's really hard to believe that it's taken so long for you to try one.

Top Notch was given one to try, it can be wonderful on terrible edges, goes fast, does throw extra dirt.

Besides adult activities, there is nothing more satisfying than a fresh clean lawn edge!

I found that its easier, dragging the edger backwards like a bed redefiner. It cleans out, and is easier to keep from jumping out of the crack.

I thought that it looked like carbide and checked out the link and found that I was right, that will cut through anything! I would be concerned about throwing rocks and at that price the life span of the tool. Great vid!

The amount of lawn care channels I've seen lately are astonishing. Never woyld of thought something like this would be so popular. You obviously do good work and I'm happy for anyone on yt like you. Definitely amazed by the following though

Fun fact: those "teeth" are cutting tool bits used for machining metal on a lathe. They're called cemented carbide bits. Basically a big piece of carbide brazed to a steel shank which the maker then welded that to a steel disc. Carbide is extremely hard but also very brittle so i would avoid hitting concrete when possible. Itll chip the carbide and wear it out faster.

It should have a thin steel disc on one side to protect the edge, and to use this disc to roll against the concrete.

Exactly! From the mind of a machinist! An old school carbide turning tool. I personally think the width of that tool doesn't make it attractive to me. I can cut out at least 10-20 of the slim style OEM blades on our water jet machine out of one sheet of steel, and complete that job much quicker and cleaner, IMO.

I’ve been running these for a few years now. They last forever and the edges look great.

I’ll bet that will tear up some sprinkler heads on the curb or sidewalks.😂

Great video Brian, I found them on Brian’s channel from Top Notch lawn care, which made me get one when he does his overgrown properties and they are a game changer when cutting over grown edges! I highly recommend them!

I don't usually comment, but this blade is so good I thought I had to. I am 79 years old and still enjoy doing our lawn. We are in southern Alabama with centipede . I have had one of these blades for about four summers now and blade still good. There is a learning curve, but it leave a real clean cut. People are always asking how I do it. I have a Echo pas 225 and have hit my share of concrete and rock.I have found it works best not to lean it either way, just straight.If I were in the business I would have one on every edger. No I don't have a dog in this fight,just an old cogger trying to make it easier on the young folks.

That thing is more like a rototiller. You can edge and plant a garden with it.😀

Brian in my experience using the golden edger if you walk backwards it doesn’t kick out as much versus walking forward

I think I would use the regular edger blade cause that blade could cause serious damage to anything and you don't want that 🤔.

I prefer a more narrow channel

I started using the Ballard Sabre edger blades and they are amazing! Way better than the standard blades.

Been using mine for 4 years now and i still got about 4 more years of use left easily. I think it’s called golden edge. I’m in Michigan and it’s perfect for our grass type

In my opinion, when you have an edge thats overgrown like that you have better results with a walk behind edger.I don’t think it’s worth the money and it leaves an edge like you just ran a ditch witch through there. If you had a walk behind edger you would’ve been done with the job already,you’re working too hard with the stick edger.

Yeah for sure, a McLane edger with a 3HP Briggs on it would rip that a lot faster and cleaner. Put a star blade on it and rock it. Way less operator fatigue too. I had one with the optional set of curb wheels on it. A walk behind edger would do that in 1/2 the time or less. Really.

@@johnmiller9602 any walk behind edger will do. If you watch the video they are really working themselves and the tool on cutting a new edge. If you have a walk behind edger there’s more weight to it and more control. And you don’t work as hard and you have a better result because it is not jumping around

Very interesting blade for shur. I use the gator blades. It has fins and it kicked the stuff out of the ditch. And I haven’t broke anything yet. Great videos keep up the good work.

I have one for a few years. It actually improves the drainage of my poorly designed driveway. It is a mess in the dry it is dusty and if it is real wet it throws mud clumps. Probably the best thing is to cut when dry but sprinkle the area a little first to hold down the dust.

Is that how Brian's Lawn Maintenance does it. Edge lawn and kick the scrap into the road! Let mother nature take care of it! LOL. Just having fun, keep up the good content.

Would be putting HUGE strain on the gearbox and bearing of the brushcutter

I have tried the Golden Edge and definitely only use it on overgrown edges.It is overkill for day to day use. It creates more cleanup work on a normal property.

Golden edge blade works amazing for overgrown stuff especially. But have to becareful it does shoot debris backwards about an extra 15 ft.

I keep a golden edge on a pas attachment and use it on overgrown edges but you have to be extremely careful whats behind you. Ive had mine for about 3 years and it still works as good as the day I got it.

I love this edeger blade use it 100% of the time and my customers love the thicker edge it makes

A shorter blade depth may require less torque allowing it to work with more edgers. Larger CC head units like your’s which are rated to push a bed definer could easily handle a longer blade depth. So, as you suggested a Golden Eagle Pro is a great idea. I’ve always loved Walker mowers, would be great to see your review of one. Thanks for all the wonderful videos.

Nice new product, nice to see traffic giving you room to work. In Florida you have to watch out every second for traffic that is just barely missing you! No one cares about the guy working on the side of the road

I've been running it for a few years with the same motor edger just in a PAS. It'll help if you put the wheel lower and just move a little slower. Full throttle & let the edger eat up the grass don't try and force it like in the video. It's not as light as a regular blade so it spins a little slower. But like you say, it shoots stuff way behind you. I'm probably going to get a small piece of rubber to bolt to the flap on the edger to help with debris being shot behind me. I've been running the same blade for almost a year and a half & am just now about needing to put a new one on. One more thing, be careful when you come up to the end of a sidewalk, it'll chip out the concrete if you're not.

Maybe get an extended guard to cut down on the rocks being thrown. Nice job! I would be impressed with lawn edges like that.

I wonder if you could put the old style blade on with the Golden Eagle. Put the old blade in between the center of the Golden Eagle teeth.

Wake me up when Rob gets down towards the end. I like the blade, especially when the property is maintained. Saw something the other day, it had teeth the full circumference. Kind of like a sawblade. Can't remember the name of it. I think you can find them on Amazon. I was wondering how those would work for edging

Renegade Blade?

I use a serrated bread knife with a comfortable hand to cut back overgrown curb edge. It actually goes pretty quick. Then I'll run the edger with the flat blade as long as the soil is dry. Over time I will widen the gap.

Golden Edge

Rob’s comments were a bit confusing to me. He said the cutting bit needed to be longer as it wasn’t long enough to get through on the first pass and you had double pass on the way back! The bit didn’t grow between the forward and the back pass. Maybe slowing and allowing the blade to work on the forward pass would solve or help. Thanks Guys! Good Job!

Eh, I can't say I noticed any better of a performance from the Golden Eagle. Looks to be about the same amount of effort and time it'd take with a standard blade for edge transformation on something like Bahia. Granted, most of my yards in Florida are St. Augustine and grow more up than out, but I have difficulty imagining this product working at all for my purposes. I'll mow at 5.5", edge with a regular blade, and oftentimes still have to clean it up by "soft" edging with the weed-eater. That said, some of 'em are so fibrous that I *do* wish I could get a wider edge; I'd just need quite a bit more length than what this offers.

It's working better with dragging back than digging forward.. second is it possible to fit it opposite in the machine (I don't remember what they're called or how they work if possible try that that would solve the 1'st problem!

I have been using it for 2 seasons. I broke 3 windows with that thing it throws debris 40ft easy especially with a high power edger

I love mine, every customer i have loves it compared to the normal blade. Makes their driveways and sidewalks pop just a bit more. And you dont really notice rocks/debris after the edge is established.

A Bed Edger Has 5 to 7 Of Those Carbide Tipped Fingers On It . So You Could Possibly Angle The Edger To Make That Work 👍

At first I didn't think too much of this. I especially didn't like how it was hard to keep it in its track. I'm also wondering how well would it hold up with hitting concrete constantly. This is not a dig at you or your boy I know both of you know how to use an edger. I think it's more because of the width of the blade that was contacting concrete. At the end seeing what you accomplish I was impressed. So I have already gone over to the link and ordered one. What I might do is try to match the metal of a tooth and fine a short piece at the metal yard and try take welding to be existing one that's on there and keep it as long as I want as long as it fits in the head of the trimmer. And then play around with perhaps cutting a little bit off here and there to see what might work the best. This will make a final winter project. I enjoyed watching you show off a new product. I cannot believe you guys use snow shovels just like I do. I always thought I was unique in that way. The first time my wife saw me doing that she was laughing until she saw how well it worked. So now I have snow shovels for yard work and snow shovels for snow work. Look forward to your next video again thanks for demonstrating a new product. You should try to work out a deal with them since a lot of people in the comments look like they all bought one.

I prefer to use a brush cutter inverted and without the guard.

Put that wheel down and let the edger do the work. Interesting tool though.

I'll bet that edge would catch a bicycle tire pretty easy, but the edge itself is very dramatic.

You would have better luck with a straight shaft edger and a shindaiwa because they have the driveshaft not an overgrown speedometer cable drive. Interesting piece, would like you to try two std blades to compare to the golden edger.

I have tried it. Be careful it really throws the dirt. If you're close to something it will be covered

Any tips on edging asphalt?

The issue is the longer the blades tips r more torque it would take and the bigger the rooster tail of debris behind u. Ive had these blades for years now and ive got one on a edger thats been on there for 3 years later today ill take some pics and send u them on fb so u can show people how well they wear and owe was going to say its the "golden edge" blade not eagle lol. They r so worth the money and mess for the amount of time savings

Never used that blade, also never used a curved shaft anything. Ya get more power with a straight shaft, the curved shaft just looks awkward to use too
